Hey! I've been reading some posts and I saw lots of complaints about this VC being so slow on sending the NOA2? Specially January filers! Does anyone has the same complaint on any other 2012 months ?? I just filed now on June, I was hoping to be with my love late November!! :/

Watch your timeline after you plug in your info. Only way to get an idea. It fluctuates at all of the processing centers. Early this year VSC was booming and CSC was slow. Seems like they take turns. Just estimate about 6 months for right now and watch the trends.

I hate to burst your bubble, but I think your time frame is highly unrealistic. If you just filed in June, you'll be just receiving your NOA2 in late November, most likely. Assuming your petition is approved with no RFEs, you still have to go through the background check at the NVC (which can take anywhere from a couple of weeks to a year, depending on whether someone on any of the international terrorist or criminal watchlists has the same name as your beneficiary fiance). After that, the petition file goes to the fiance's consulate and they have to file more papers and get a medical exam before they can even have an interview. A more realistic timeline is probably 9 months to a year from your file date. That said, I've heard of a couple of cases put through in as little as 6 or 7 months (only once or twice, though), and I've heard of them taking almost a couple of years (if they have to go to AP or receive a NOID/NOIR). If I were you, I'd settle in, get used to waiting, and count yourself lucky if you've got an NOA2 by December. Best of luck to you!

Every case is unique. That being said, it's a good idea to follow some timelines a month or 2 ahead of you, or even just look at the statistics but keep in mind that everything after NOA2 is country specific.

I agree. My NOA1 date is 18th Jan 2012 and I am still waiting for NOA2. I would say it take 5-6 months for getting NOA2 and then around 3 months to get visa in hand. These are minumum time frames. Logically be ready for around 9-12 months to get visa in hand from June.

I have seen two people finish their K1 journey in a little less than 5 months so anything is possible....but I would advise that do not make any concrete plans....because the average is 6-9 months...but have faith that anything is possible.

Ah yes, another attorney...

She's correct if she's talking about the timeframe from filing the I-129F petition and supporting materials to when you can expect to receive an approval, RFE, or denial. Otherwise, it's more likely the process -- from filing the I-129F to receiving the visa in hand -- will take 8-9 months, if you're lucky.

Yeah, you can go ahead and anticipate at least the 6 month timeframe for getting your NOA2. Then it has to go through some other processes before getting to NVC, then NVC will send the package to your consulate. Once there, you will either schedule an interview or be given a date. All in all, looking at about 8-10 months before you get your visa in hand. Some people get lucky and go a little quicker, some people are not so fortunate and go a little slower. I hope you are in the first group.

VSC is hella slow right now!

I would say that you getting to be with your love in late November is an incredibly generous time frame. I filed at the end of April, and according to estimated times here on VJ by my timeline, I won't even get my NO2 until mid-October.

Keep your hopes up! Maybe you'll be one of those lucky few who get through super quick!

There are some countries that get through really quick, like Haiti and the DR, but I don't know about Portugal.

Like everyone said, 6 months to NOA2 without an RFE, 1 month at NVC, 2 weeks to the Consulate, another two months for an interview date is the most likely scenario. That puts you at April 2013 or later. Or earlier, if VSC gets their head out of their you know where!

I just traveled to my fiance and only had to provide a return ticket itinerary, no problems at all.
