Ok, so the consulate called him back rpetty quick which I was surprised and told him to send it back to them and they would have it resealed and returned to him probably by Tuesday! :dancing: Soooo much better than what I was expecting!!! OMG thank goodness!!!

I told Ben next time he is confused a quick google search will answer his questions :whistle: I'm so glad it wasn't worse but I won't feel better til he is here in my arms lol

(BTW his dad didn't know how serious it was and neither did Ben so I can't blame anyone for it I was just really stressed out!!!!!)

Mar 2011 - After 5mths denied for lost docs - Attempts to follow up failed. Mar 18 2012 - I-129F sent - No sign of NOA1 but they have banked the check...Jul 24 - Update - USCIS has located our file
Infopass Apt - they sorted through everything - our 2011 and 2012 file keep getting mixed up - getting us a Case# (still waiting) Dec- Infopass Appt- expecting to get a case # in about a week ..Still no Case number

Mar 2013 Infopass - advised file was in a box somewhere,and it would be quicker for us to refile. Life gets in the way... New petition submitted July 2014 .

What can we do, he just got it yesterday and his dad opened it today, yes he saw the do not open but his dad opened it anyway....please help me we are both crying we don't know what to do...please is there anything we can do, I know he can't come here while that is unsealed or else they will send him back but will the consulate be able to do something!? please help I'm desperate!!!!

And forbid Dad from checking the mail anymore! :bonk:

Aww it's okay. Accidents happen all the time. Australia is a laid back place so I'm not surprised it's not a huge ordeal. Great that he can just mail it rather than going back in person. An express post envelope is HEAPS cheaper than a flight! :D

Rough Timeline
(I'm terrible with dates)


  • Met online May 2008
  • Began dating August 2010
  • Met face to face July 2011
  • Became engaged October 2011
  • Filed Petition for Fiancé Visa October 2011
  • Approved case forward to Sydney Consulate February 2012 (with the wrong email address- caused a lot of stress trying fix)
  • Packet 3 sent to Consulate April 11 2012
  • Interview date sent back on April 18 2012 (according to them. I had to email to find out, which I got a reply to on April 26)
  • Interview scheduled for May 15 2012
  • Interview on May 15 2012: VISA APPROVED
  • Visa arrived in hand May 21 2012
  • Hopeful wedding date: July 7
  • Married July 7
  • Filed for AOS several days later
  • April 29, 2013: Immigration requested additional evidence (my medical)
