Looking into my flight options for June POE. As far as I can remember, it's better to get a return ticket right? As opposed to a one way.

Also, will it be an issue (or at least just look weird) that I'll be doing my POE a month and a half after my interview date? I have a perfectly good reason for it in case anyone asks at the border

Look into both one-way as well as return. It can be cheaper either or. Go with whatever is cheaper.

And nope, that won't be a problem at all. The border officers understand (or should anyways) that some people can't just pick up and move after receiving the visa. Some people have jobs that need a couple week's notice, a lease might need to be finished, school might need to be finished, etc etc. As long as your visa is still valid, they won't care. They might ask you about it, but that's it. Just answer honestly, and you'll have zero problems.

Question reg. AOS package to NVC: Do I have to submit all the original documents (paystubs, income tax returns) or just photocopies?

Thanks :)

Well, first off, the tax returns can only be photocopies as the originals are sent to IRS.

As for pay stubs, they can be either or, doesn't matter as they're optional anyways. But I'd suggest sending photocopies.

RE: TRANSLATING THE SEAL/STAMP OF CERTIFIED COPIES

My wife in Indonesia just got the marriage certificate and her birth certificated certified today. Both are stamped in the Indonesian language. So do we need to get the stamp/seal translated into English?

She and I already have had both documents translated previously, so all we need done to translate is the stamp/seal.

This is up to you. According to NVC, you don't need to translate documents if they're in the official language of where the interview will be held. I always suggest translating documents though as I've seen people get checklists at NVC for missing translations. If it's just the stamp/seal not translated, then it should be fine.

...strangest conversation with Geneva at the DoS. She indicated that I need to get in touch with the US Consulate in Montreal and ask for Packet 3 - but she confirmed I have a spousal visa. I think I'll just email them and tell them Geneva at DoS told me to ask them for packet 3....and then explain my situation. Lol. Maybe THAT will get me somewhere!

20 minutes on hold with NVC only to have Angel tell me that I have to be more patient for the IV bill. She said the fee just changed and that alot of bills had to be released so they can't all go out at the same time. She said yours should be coming soon and we'll send you an email with the bill. I told her I ALREADY received the email but no bill was posted. All she said was that I have to be a bit more patient... Sigh... Monday's off to a lousy start...

Weird blink.gif I'd definitely email Montreal pronto and explain your situation and ask them what you need to do next. Expect to wait a few days though as Montreal is typically slow at responding.

Hopefully NVC will release all the IV invoices today. Remember, they've only been open for an hour. There's still 15 hours for them ;)

My patience is wearing thin. The fee changed 10 days ago. I sent and paid my AOS April 4 and the held my invoice back so I could pay the lower fee. I would have rather have paid the extra $100 than to have to wait 3 weeks to get it invoiced. They need to get their ####### together. I plan to fly to Amman for his interview and I have to make arrangements to fly. I know they don't care about me...but I just want my damn fee and to send my packet!!!!!!!!!!

yep, I emailed them and got the auto-response already. The website listed a phone number but I seem to remember hearing they don't answer the phones - is this correct? Wonder...maybe the congressman will get solid answers before they even get back to me LOL. On the other hand, she asked if I got a packet yet. Wonder if that means that "something" is in the works to be sent to me?
