@LIFE'SJOURNEY

To get a replacement card don't I have to go to the US, re apply, wait for processing and do biometrics again. I don't have enough time because of university to that.

Do you have to do biometrics for a replacement card, you can go to the US embassy in the UK and start this process.

You are not the first person to lose a GC overseas, and they don't make them ome bak to the US for biometrics.

Again, If you were my child in school I would apply for a replacement card and call it a wrap. All of that calling and running around would not be necessary. the card would be sent to your US address and then whiomever is left here in the US an send it on to you.

Except that it is a illegal to mail a Green Card out of the country.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

what's up with getting an ISO on the phone with USCIS and going over the 'address stuff' I mentioned in a prior post?

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Could I not get a new stamp after February by going to the US embassy explaining to them that I have university and so need a new stamp, and then re-enter US in July/August and deal with everything then?

Let's do some role play here.

You go to the embassy for a stamp,

Embassy ask why

You explain, you never received it and you want a stamp to enter the US.

Embassy when are you entering the US?

You, mid Aug

Embassy now has your passport in hand, flipping thru the pages....

See's now that you will be out of the US greater than a year, and you don't have a re-entry permit

What are you going to do now???????

what's up with getting an ISO on the phone with USCIS and going over the 'address stuff' I mentioned in a prior post?

What will this solve, he doesn't have a GC. So, lets say the address is correct where will he go from there?

Sure you can try but you're admitting to them you live outside of the US. You're supposed to be maintaining your status. You are walking a very fine line. There are many great suggestions, which you follow is up to you.

@Darnell

I have spoke to them before, they confirmed my address and sent me a second letter with my details (with correct address - same as before) saying your card is in production and will be sent within 30 days. Please don't call until 60 days has past. It should have come early November but didn't. So I don't know if that will work?

@LIFE'SJOURNEY

What if i go in July, before the one year ends? I will explain to them I was unable to apply for a re-entry permit because I didn't have time but this year I am going to.

The gc will be sent out to the USA address. Some OTHER human can get it to him/her..

I do see yer point, though - I think all is lacksidaisical approach to maintaining 'status', really.

I am just wondering is this is a big thing for you.

The Visa was issued in Feb, you had 6 months and left it to the very last minute.

You did not wait for the GC, how long were you in the US?

You now do not intend returning for a year.

This is my final point, OP you need to get your behind back on US soil before your one year expiration time is up. Yes, you can get a GC stamp, but at the end of the day YOU are going to need to apply for a replacement GC.

Your passport will have a trailing history of your leaving the US and entering, so you will not be able to lie about your stay outside of the US.

Cool. Study the first 4 lines of Post #16. You really want to chase after the greencard on a regular postal remail, at this point.
