Stuck In Initial Review After 5 Months?

I have a question I have been like everyone here constantly checking the status between Visa Journey, Igors List/Berkley List and USCIS.

Our case still says Initial review on USCIS website all of the EAC###### after and before us have moved on, does this mean there could be something wrong with our case?

Every time I call USCIS no one gives me any information instead they respond as if I am asking them for their social security number and bank account numbers. (Never a pleasant call)

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Ours said initial review until it said Approved. Relax. It has been taking a lot of people longer than 5 months lately. They won't do much for you unless you're outside normal processing times, which you are not.

Unfortunately you are in the "normal" time range for the processing of your fiancé visa and receiving the NOA2. Once you hit the 5 month mark you can call the USCIS and put in a service request to see what is taking so long. The officer in charge of the case is supposed to respond to you, but I'm not sure if that exactly clears anything up. Some people on here have waited 200 days and they didn't have a request for evidence or anything like that. It took 149 days for me to get my NOA2. Just hang in there, your time will come. :)

When you call USCIS the operator cant even see your case, they cannot see anything more than you can on the case status website. They don't have the ability to tell you anything other than what you yourself can see.

If you call and request an officer or a T2 operator you are more likely to get information on your case.

Nothing wrong, the approval of the petition by USCIS takes time. It was about 5 1/2 months for us, earlier this year (approval on early May). No point on calling, it'll get done when it'll get done.

On the good news: once it leaves NVC (the next step after you get approved by USCIS, NVC step can take up to a couple of weeks, was 5 days for us) and arrives at Warszawa, it goes pretty fast. Once we submitted the paperwork they wanted, we had our interview scheduled within 1 week. Notice they schedule the entire month the week before the next month begins, so you can get some delays here; the key is to have everything ready ahead of time and as soon as your petition hits the Embassy, you can sent it. As oppose to other Embassies, you would not need to wait for packet 3 or 4. BTW, all this packet 3 and 4 info is at the web site in the Warszawa Embassy, so you can start looking if you wish.

On better news: the interview at the Warszawa Embassy is fast and simple: about 10 min. Ours was 5 with a couple of questions.

Don't know what to tell you except that A LOT of petitioners here on VJ are in the same boat.

There are different answers floating around. While some people are able to get help from their local representatives, for others this route does not work. Some are calling USCIS, however they have 90 days to investigate and respond to your request (so more waiting anyways). Another person posted earlier that they called today and was told that the Processing time is June 16 (even though it says 5 months on the website). Processing time is from date of the NOA1.

It's frustrating, and I'm sure everyone who has been through the process and is going through it can empathize.

You could try taking it to your local congress rep. If you do, good luck and keep us posted. Hope you hear some good news soon!

Initial Review man I am tired of seeing Initial Review when I check case status on USCIS but I am only a week shy of four months so I just have to wait some more. If something don't change by the end of the month then I am gonna be testy!!!!!

wow. I hope you have something to calm you down. Because it's the holiday season and they may slow down, and there's people who've been waiting for 6 months.

For me its 6 months for me. on the 29th of october it will be 7 months. Should I call them and ask what is going on or should I just wait a little more?

Based on timeline data, your I129f may be adjudicated between October 2, 2012 and October 8, 2012*.

This thread is from December 2011.

As the other poster said, Vermont is backlogged, so unfortunately you are still "within normal processing times"
