Consulate Review: Dublin, Ireland
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : January 19, 2012
Embassy Review : Paul arrived on time to the embassy. They let him and he put all of his stuff in the locker. When he went into the room a man called him to the counter and he submitted the affidavit of support information, his original birth certificate (the man said he would not get the certificate back), DS-156 x 2 and DS-156K. He said that this man was very nice and also took one additional passport picture along with the $350.00 bank draft. The envelope he gave was slightly bigger than what they wanted (12x14), but it was really hard to find that size in Ireland. They were fine with the size difference.
He then sat back down and waited for another 1.5 hours and an American consular called him up. She asked a good few questions and was very snippy. She mainly was mainly asking contradictory questions and trying to trip Paul up in his answers. She asked:
-When did we meet?
-When did he propose?
-How many times did I come to Ireland?
-How many times did he come to America?
-Where did I work in Ireland? Why was I living in Ireland for year?
-What kind of work did I do at my job in Ireland?
-What did I do in America?

He said it was pretty straight forward, you just had to have all your ducks in a row. The American consular was really snippy like I said earlier. She was very harsh an critical. She also made a very rude remark about how Paul wasn't talking loud enough when he said he was practically shouting. She said to him, "stop whispering, your not talking to your girlfriend now." Totally uncalled for. I guess they need to be tough because of immigration scams, but she could hold back on the comments. Besides that it was fairly painless. They took his passport and told him the visa was approved and he should receive it within a week.
Rating : Moderate

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
