I happened to catch this article this morning, it was an interesting read but that's not a job I would like for sure. I would probably fail as I'm pretty sure I have inattentive ADHD, equipped with short term/working memory so poor that it's obscene. That's also not the first time I have heard immigration ask a mother/pregnant woman if the baby was her husband's!

Kathryn, I knew you were in the ATL area but I didn't know it was Stockbridge! My inlaws live there about 15 minuets away from us, I really like the area.

Also, happy anniversary too!

I think we should have an ATL VJ group :)

Happy Anniversary for Saturday Kathryn.

I think we should have an ATL VJ group :)

Happy Anniversary for Saturday Kathryn.

Actually, we do have one - sort of :D . We had a meeting last Fall for Atlanta/Georgia area VJers at one of the state parks. We posted about the get together in the New Life in America forum and 4 American/Canadian couples and one half of an American/Russian couple were able to make it. We are due for another get togeher - we just need some ideas for a where and when. Any suggestions?

And thanks for the Anniversary wishes!

Small world :D - there is another VJ couple in Stockbridge as well. So you are also nearby - that is cool. We will all definitely have to have a get together soon.

And thank you too for the Anniversary Wishes!

Duplicate post of the same article has been moved from AOS forum and merged with existing post in Immigration News Forum. There is one additional thread on this same article that is posted in Off Topic and has been asked to remain in Off Topic to allow for more 'off topic' type of discussion that would not be appropriate here, so for now, it will remain there.

Thanks :D

Why is it that the only one who can stop the crying is the one who started it in the first place?

I did - and it applies to many on VJ. Over submission is not a good idea. How many times have you read a message along the lines of "and I had a box of extra proof with me and he/she wouldn't even look at it".

Hi Kathryn,

having a meeting of the VJers around Atlanta is a good idea - didn't know you already had one last year.

I live in Acworth - 45 min. north of downtown Atlanta; so I might be able to join.

Happy Anniversary from me too!

Not that this thread has anything to do ATL VJers or anything but I just wanna say one more thing!

There are a few I know of on the UK thread too. I don't get there until August. But I LOVE (live for) organising (as sad as I am) so once I'm there and settled I don't mind helping out whoever organised on the last ocassion.

Happy Anniversary for Saturday Kathryn.
Happy anniversary, K. -- two lovely individuals who, if possible, make an even lovelier couple, si man.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
