If it weren't for the internet, I'd be very single and probably would have stayed that way. It is nearly impossible, to find someone special, when you are middle aged and have no normal network of singles to draw from. My friends and family no zero single people that I find attractive for a serious relationship. I'm not and could never get interested in the "bar scene". I wouldn't walk up to a lady at the grocery or clothing store to ask for their shopping advice hoping to get a little more. I truly can say, the internet is 100% responsible for opening doors that would have otherwise remain clos] ed.

Totally agree! I also would be very single today if it weren't for the internet that had introduced me to my husband and to other parts of the world that I don't think that I would have had the nerve to venture on my own if it wasn't for the chance at a special love!:luv:(L)

I went online on purpose to see if I could find anyone interesting and remotely close to what I was looking for (like Kazan, there was slim pickings from where I was from), dated a couple of people, was in a period of just hanging out with friends when Jerry and I crossed paths in the chatroom. I never thought I would end up in the US!

Met online, actually it was the first time i had ever chatted online. Was married 7yrs prior. Moved in with mom and thats all she did, at first i thought she was crazy, i had never even seen a webcam before, she finally talked me into opening a yahoo account and a few days later i met my love, didnt know it at the time though, we started out as friends and it just kinda grew. Funny how life works that way.

Lai and I met on the Internet at a singles site. And we were both there actively, deliberately seeking a spouse (gasp!). I find it amusing how often people will say they met on the Internet, but then will be quick to point out that it was entirely accidental and they'd had no real intention of finding a spouse there, as if there were something weird or sad about people who purposely look for their mates that way, and they want to assure everyone they aren't losers ;)

The culture we live in calls that being needy.

I think of it more as recognizing what you need and going out to get it.

I'm happy for both of you :)

I agree. Nicely said, Scott. We met via webcam but it was coincidental - I was chatting with my friends and she happened to be with them at the time. We said our hellos and chatted briefly but that was it...never even thought of her again until a few months later when I stumbled onto her profile on Friendster...then I sent her a message and things took off from there.

According to the poll, we are some of the oddballs.

Her sister-in-law introduced us. (But, not until several months of observation and the decision that I'm worthy.)

BTW: Worthy? I don't know about that. However, I know I am unbelievably lucky.
