Why does it always have to be illegal immigration in the news. Could anyone think of away to bring more attention to those of us that are trying to do this legally? What if all of the ones waiting took over the stadium just before the super bowl kick off ? I suspect maybe we would make the third page. Hoping not to many people notice. Sorry for the rant, feeling a little left out. If... john&jean

I am for the government stopping ALL illegal immigration and increasing legal immigration quotas.

If it takes a fence build it, if it takes enforcing the laws do it, if it takes deportation then do it, and it takes sanctions on businesses that hire illegals do it.

On the other hand I know that in the Philippines they have a lot of college educated people that need jobs. So why not allow them to come. I know that there are many other countries that have good hard working people that would be welcome additions to American society.

I work with many legal immigrants that come from all over the world. I help these people succeed any way I can. They do have one thing in common though, they absolutely despise the fact that they had to work so hard for many years to come here and others are just let in free of charge. Every time I go shopping there is a immigrant family in front of me with 4 or 5 children, not one really speaks any English and they always have food stamps. If they were legal would they not have sponsors for their support?

My beloved Joy is here, married and pregnant!

illegals are the achilles heel of many here...also, global warming...hookers etc.....

and terrorists!

FWIW legal immigration makes for boring headlines.

and a good day at Disney never made headlines....

if it bleeds, it leads!

that's it!

it was bouncing around in my head..... "if there's blood... something" is all I had

Lucky for you I got here when I did ;)

I am for the government stopping ALL illegal immigration and increasing legal immigration quotas.

Unfortunately, the two don't go hand in hand.

Why do you say that? Most everyone here that has a strong dislike for illegals are also saying that legal immigration is a good thing. After all half of everyone here is an immigrant. I know I want more legal immigration and zero illegal gate crashers.

aw, on a slow day on vj..post an illegal thread...muslim thread..global warming thread..hillary thread...........

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Because the recently proposed legislation contained reductions of family immigrant categories. It also contained a 'points system' proposal for all immigrant categories, which would by its very nature reduce the number of people who would qualify to enter legally.

I also wanted to note that the line between illegal and legal is not as stark as some would like to believe. Illegal can become legal, and vice versa--hence, my mention of some fellow VJ users having been illegal at one time. Many are forthright about this when asking questions in other threads. Gee, why aren't some of you hassling them, or better yet, reporting them?

I've wondered that myself....I've seen some of the most hardlined "go back to where you came from" types turn around and wish all the best of luck to an VJ overstayer. Hmmm, could it be perhaps that once one knows someone's story, they can have a bit of empathy.... ?? hmmmm
