Wedding early October, NOA1 given January, filed at TSC. Are we screwed?

Can you move your date? What exactly is holding you to this October wedding? I made the same mistake, but I made sure that all my vendors were aware of the situation and all of them allowed me to move the date with no penalty. My October wedding is now a May wedding. Have you talked to your vendors? They're much more likely to be flexible now as opposed to a month before the wedding day.

You are over complicating matters, just delay it until you get the visa.

I filed in November of last year at TSC and I am currently predicting my fiance be here as early as October, possibly later.

NEVER make set wedding plans until VISA is i hand. It's just the nature of this game.

When filling in your timeline, please understand that all I-129F's are sent to the LOCKBOX in Texas, and then ROUTED (not transferred) to your ASSIGNED service center- the one in Texas "TSC" (not the same as the lockbox!), or the one in California "CSC". If your tracking number starts with WAC, you're at the CSC, you were not transferred! There are no transfers at this time. If your number starts with SRC you're at the TSC and that's where you will serve your entire sentence.USCIS isn't fair.

They don't care about you.

Nobody can possibly tell you if you will make it or not. Approval dates speed up and slow down constantly. My wife's friend filed for AOS 2 months before us and got hers in 3 month, when we filed we waited a year. It's bureaucracy at the best. Destination wedding! Obviously if you are having a big affair type wedding you may want to re-think. You should know if you haven't received approval about a month before there's no way your significant other will get all the stuff done in UK needed that is left.

Don't make wedding plans before you have the visa.

If you're a ninny and do, move the date.

Thread solved.

December 12th, 2013: Picked up marriage license.

Boiler's post is ""absolutely correct"".,.,. but remember, never break the VJ.com "golden rule" never, ever plan anything, or buy any tickets, until the visa is in your passport! Never.

Just do as Boiler said, he is smart, and straight to the point, and usually right!

I would never consider, a CR-1, giving up your K-1, and starting a 1-2 year journey.,,..,.I would hope you would never consider this!

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Honestly you are better off moving the wedding if you see you aren't going to make it then you are to do CR1. Just because you have to start all over and you have to be apart during that process and it takes a long time. But that's just my opinion. Ours is just now on the way to NVC and we submitted ours in August. Honestly there is no way to know for certain. Good luck.

Hi Guys,

So me and my fiance filed the K1 petition in the new year, thinking we were allowing plenty of time for out wedding in October. Now it seems like the TSC is working on a huge backlog and is still processing the cases from September. We're both panicking that the visa isn't going to be issued in time for our wedding, should we be worried or can I still expect to get the NOA2 in time?

It's very difficult to project actual POE date.

Therefore, it's very stressful if you try to pinpoint the wedding date...as you know by now.

Best thing to do is plan a simple civil marriage ASAP after POE at the court,

which is very easy and quick to do, so that you can get the AOS/EAD/AP processing rolling,

and then take time to schedule a separate wedding ceremony afterwards.

Speak to a lawyer, I know what they'll tell you but we cannot say it here.

and what exactly is a lawyer going to say? The same EXACT thing others have said. Never ever make final arrangements for anything until you have a visa in hand. Why waste the money for an attorney?

Probably not actually.

You would be surprized. I know exactly what the easiest way to get into the US is, thanks to lawyers.

Oh yeah? Please share your secrets! I'm sure all of us waiting patiently at TSC would love to know how to get our loved ones here faster! $

Lawyers are a waste of money, period. You can tell yourself otherwise, but they don't know any more about what is really going on with USCIS than the members of this forum do.

Have you consulted a lawyer? They are not a "waste of money" if your case has special issues.

I won't give advice here because I am not qualified to do so. Especially when it comes to the sensitive topic of adjusting status from within the US.
