Is it going to be her first time on a plane/travelling abroad? If yes, I can understand how it would be overwhelming, especially if she isn't that computer literate. Add to that, she's moving overseas, which is stressful for anyone.

CBP is used to dealing with all kinds of passengers, from complete newbies who don't speak English, all the way to the jaded million milers. They aren't going to give her a hard time unless they find something suspicious about her behavior.

I suppose it would help if she watched some YouTube videos about flying to the US so that she has an idea of what to expect. There likely won't be any footage of actual CBP interviews but she could read articles online about what it's like. Just don't watch stuff like Border Patrol 😉

Thank you adventine for your reply. Of everyone responding to me you have been the most understanding. I'm sure I'm not the only one. My fiancee has been to another country like Saudi Arabia many years ago for work purposes but that's it. She has never been to the United States. She is looking forward to it but again this is the biggest trip she has ever taken on before so naturally she is a little nervous and so am I. I realize everyone else means well but I still feel like they are being a little condescending to me even if they don't mean to and I feel they should read how you are responding to me and learn from you. But again thank you for your understanding reply. I will help her with learning about laptops and chromebooks since I have some over here. Take care.

  2. Hello villanelle and crazy Kat. I appreciate your input and maybe I am over thinking this but my Filipina fiancee is easily confused sometimes about things. The poor girl honestly didn't realize that her cfo certificate was emailed to her. She actually showed me the email and the pdf was right there to be printed but she didn't understand that. I had to explain it to her. While yes she is an adult and for the most part does have common sense, she isn't the best when it comes to doing some things online and she doesn't own a laptop or anything like that. So yes please bare with me and try to understand that I am still in this process unlike others who have already gone through it. And I do believe I do have the human and caring right to be concerned about my fiancee getting confused with whatever questions she will be asked. She will probably be be just fine. But I'm guessing both of you went through this process already and I understand that you are trying to help. But please allow me to seek answers and if necessary be a good concerned fiance who is trying to make the process as easy as I can for her. Please bare with me if I do seem to be overthinking this but I love this girl and want to be with her and help her through this as much as possible. I'm sorry if I might seem to be a little agitated and frustrated but both of you did come across as though you were putting me down and that really isn't necessary. I doubt you meant anything but that's how it felt to me. Try not to judge me or anyone else who is trying to help their loved ones in the process. Thank you both for your replies but I appreciate it if you would be more sensitive and not be so judgemental and ask me why am I so concerned. My fiancee has nothing to hide and I don't either but both of us sometimes need guidance, not judgment. Have a great weekend

  3. I will try not to make this very long if  I can help it. My filipina fiancee has her cfo certificate and I have her flights scheduled for next Saturday night from the Philippines to where I live now. She is scheduled to arrive June 19th around 6 in the evening. The main reason I'm on here now is I'm wondering how she should answer whatever questions the cbp officer will ask of her. She will be arriving in Hartsfield Jackson international airport in Atlanta on June 19th around 10am. I'm sure she will be asked what her purpose is for coming to the US. The obvious reason of course is to be United in marriage with me on her k1 visa. I guess she can just say it like that because it is not wrong answer or however she wants to say it. She will probably be asked what my address is and maybe what my occupation is. I am wondering if the cbp officer will ask her to list some facts about the state I live in. I haven't talked to her much about that and I'm wondering if I should tell her some things just to make sure she is ready. I'm hoping someone can share some tips with me.

  4. My filipina fiancee has her cfo phone counseling scheduled for June 6th at 10:30am her time over there. I have already sent her some extra documents just in case in addition to what she has already submitted. I will tell her to have copies of all the copies of what she had with her k1 interview with her just in case but hopefully she won't need it. Her flight is scheduled for 2 weeks after the cfo thing so I'm hoping it will go smooth. I want to wish anyone else who has their cfo appointment on the same day the best of luck to them as well. I am hoping she can get the temporary certificate on the next day at the latest. She has her visa and passport already.

  5. I for some reason was thinking that all countries had to do the cfo seminar but I of course was mistaken. That's all my Filipina fiancee has to do now. She is scheduled for the phone counseling session on June 6th at 10:30 am Philippines time. My only slight concern is whether or not she will get assigned a decent counselor who will mainly ask her a few questions which is expected. But another concern is asking her for more documents which could be a pain depending on what that could be. We have already gone through the list of possible things that could pertain to me and I have already sent them to my fiancee just to hopefully be ready and be on the safe side. Another slight concern is the fact I have already booked her flight for June 18th which counting this week is 3 weeks away. I was really wanting to hold off booking the flight until she got her temporary cfo certificate but she said she wanted to travel on  the 18th of June. So I am hoping the counseling session will go well and she can get her cfo certificate that day or shortly after. I am just wondering how this worked out for other Filipina fiancees.

  6. Allow me the opportunity to congratulate you as well on getting through your interview. My filipina fiancee had her interview back in early April and just finally picked up her k1 visa earlier this week. She is now waiting for her counselor to schedule the phone interview for the cfo certificate. She has already registered and sent in the required documents. I had to help her with the documents but she got it done. She is hoping to have her phone interview on Monday and hopefully have the cfo certificate by Tuesday. Has your fiancee done the cfo seminar yet? This is a requirement to leave the Philippines. But once again congratulations on getting through the interview. This has been a long process. I have already booked her plane ticket and she is scheduled to arrive on June 19th in my home state. She is hoping to get her cfo certificate early this week if possible.

  7. My filipina fiancee now has her k1 visa in hand . She asked me to go ahead and schedule the flight which I didn't want to do until she gets her cfo certificate but i went ahead and scheduled the flight anyway in about 3 more weeks. She said she would do the cfo when she gets up in the morning her time. I reminded her that she can call them if she wants to but I already know that they will tell her to register online because this is how it is done now. How long does it take to get the cfo certificate like this? i am probably being paranoid but i hope it doesn't take several weeks. I told her i will help her with the online stuff if she isn't comfortable.  I just don't want her to keep waiting to do it. Is it possible for her to get this certificate by the end of the week?  I am hoping she can do this on her phone but again i can help her if needed.

No one can give you an exact time frame for how long it takes for the passport to arrive or how long they will hold it. They should have given your fiance a number or sent her a text about delivery. the best bet is to call LBC directly and ask:

    https://www.lbcexpress.com/us/contact-support

My Filipina fiancee did in fact get a text from the lbc to notify her that her visa is ready to pick up. She received the text on Saturday and she has until the end of the day on Wednesday to pick up. She is flying to Manila on Tuesday evening and that will give her plenty of time to do the pick up. She will then work on the cfo seminar while she is in Manila. I'm hoping she will be able to have that done by the end of next week if possible. But at least she will have her visa in hand. I told her I would help with scheduling the cfo seminar if she needs me to but I will see if she can do it on her own first.

  9. My Filipina fiancee will be able to pick up her k1 visa either by the end of next week or possibly the week after. The visa is in final processing. I have 2 questions about this. Will she receive any kind of notification that her visa is ready to be picked up? And how long will she have to pick it up? Her visa is going to be taken to the lbc residence in makati city in Manila. That is where I choose at the time I scheduled her interview to have it picked up. Will she receive an email or something that her visa and passport are ready to be picked up? I ask how long will they give her to pick up because she has to get a flight to Manila from her province to pick her passport and visa up because again at the time I scheduled her interview I was under the impression that it wasn't going to take long for her to be able to pick it up but of course I found out that wasn't the case and I thought she would stay in Manila until then. So I am wondering how much time will they give her to pick up her visa packet because it might be a day or two before she can get a flight to Manila.

***Moved to the Philippines regional forum as consulates differ in the ways delivery is conducted******   Congratulations!!!

Will my Filipina fiancee be notified when her k1 visa is ready for pickup. I realize that it might be a week or two before it is ready but I am wondering if she will be contacted or notified by email or text or however it is done. I don't know if the ceac will go anywhere else beyond issued status.

  11. I am happy and grateful to announce that my filipina fiancee has been issued her k1 visa according to the ceac website. I have messaged her about it and I'm waiting to hear from her. I am guessing she will receive notification when her visa is ready to be picked up. She is in her province in Eastern samar right now and she will have to go to Manila to pick her visa up. The reason is due to the fact I didn't realize at the time that I scheduled her interview that I would have to decide where her visa would be delivered to and at the time I didn't think it would take very long so I picked the nearest lbc residence in Manila. So she will have to fly to Manila to pick it up  once she is informed that it is ready for pickup. I assume once again she will be notified about this but I'm hoping someone can let me know for sure. I will help her with getting her cfo seminar scheduled after she has the visa in her hand.

  12. I am waiting for my Filipina fiancee's k1 visa to be approved and issued but in the meantime I am thinking in the hopeful near future. I am wondering how soon after she finally has her visa in her hand can she schedule to have the cfo seminar? I will pay the uscis immigration fee first and get that taken care of but I am wondering if there is any kind of waiting time for this seminar or can she get scheduled right away. From what I am researching it looks like she will be able to to do everything online and not have to go anywhere for this but I want to make sure. I am slightly confused about what all she needs to do with the seminar itself. I believe she will have to do another interview with a counselor or someone like that but I am trying to find out if she needs to do anything else to get the sticker and certificate. I don't want to get too far ahead of things because she is still waiting for her k1 visa to be issued but I am trying to get ready in advance.

Just tried it now and no issues here. Try clearing the cache on your browser and/or switch to a different browser.

I tried the clearing of the cache and it appears that it might have worked. It still buffers but only for a few seconds. Also, while I am logged on here, my ceac status has finally changed from refused to application received. It states to check back in 2 business days and I guess it will say what the next step will be. Am I safe to assume that this is good news for my Filipina fiancee and myself? I didn't want to create another topic and have a duplicate post so I thought I should bring this up on this thread. I am hoping again that someone will be able to let me know what application received means on the ceac status. She has already had her k1 visa interview over a month ago.

  14. Is anyone else having issues attempting to check their visa status on ceac? I was checking on the status of my filipina fiancee k1 visa status but today everytime I  enter the security code it just starts buffering or something and it won't go any further. I have tried several times and was trying to find out if the website is down but I haven't found anything out. I am hoping someone might know what is going on.

  15. I realize that others are probably in the same boat but I wanted to say something in case something might be going on that I might not be aware of. My Filipina fiancee had her k1 visa interview back in April 7 of this year. Although she passed her interview, she was asked to submit an updated nbi and police clearance which she has already taken care of weeks ago. The status has been saying refused for almost over a month now and it hasn't been updated since April 27. I am wondering if the recent election going on in the Philippines might have something to do with the delay in processing or is something else going on. My fiancee is concerned but I keep telling her that it is a slow process and we just have to wait. Does anyone know what might going on with the US consulate in the Philippines to delay visa processing? I really didn't think it would actually take this long.

  16. I am wondering if other k1 visa applicants are experiencing this issue as well. I was going to hold off saying something but I felt this should be addressed. My filipina fiancee in the Philippines had her k1 visa interview back in April 7th. She was told that she had passed the interview but she needed to get an updated nbi and police clearance and submit them with her passport, which she did. She has not heard anything since then. As a matter of fact she doesn't even know that I'm asking about this on here and I haven't told her so she won't get upset. I have been checking her visa status on the ceac website and the status has been saying refused. I have done some research on this and it used to say administrative processing but I heard they stopped doing that. I have also read that the applicant should not panic or be concerned and the status would change to issu d after the documents requested had been approved. I am assuming that others are going through this as well and I am wondering if anyone has been changed to issued after the status had said refused. I am thinking that this is causing a lot of confusion and cencern. But it hasn't been 2 weeks yet. I am hoping to hear from anyone else who is going through this or recently has been through it.

  17. My filipina fiancee is still waiting for approval of her k1 visa. But in the mean time I am wondering if I can help her with the registration process for the cfo senimar when that time comes. She only has her cell phone and it is very difficult for her to do some things on her that thing considering how lousy the internet is in her province in the Philippines. So I'm wondering if I could assist her with the eventual registration for the cfo seminar. I am hoping someone will advise me on this issue.

  18. My fiancee in the Philippines has already provided the necessary documents that were asked of her following her k1 visa interview. Here is the thing. She wants the visa packet to be delivered to her province after it is hopefully approved. I have attempted to change the delivery address but it can't be done, at least not that I can see. I then read where the delivery address has to be changed before the interview. After the interview the delivery address is locked. Is there a way to work around this or will she just have to grin and bear it so to speak? I booked her interview and I didn't think about asking her where she wanted the visa packet to be delivered. There was a free delivery option so I just choose that one. Is there any way to change this or will she have to go to where it will be delivered from when I scheduled the interview? I can't change it on the website and it won't let me. Her visa hasn't been issued yet but once again the interview has been done. Just wondering if there is a very to get around this.

  19. I am happy to say that my filipina fiancee passed her k1 visa interview the other day. All she has to do now is submit an updated nbi and police clearance along with her passport and she is good to go. I have read a lot about the cfo seminar for filipina fiancee going overseas and I hear it's required to leave the airport. But there are a few that claim the cfo is only needed for younger filipina women. My fiancee is 38 years old and I doubt that age matters. I don't think she can leave the Manila airport without having attended the cfo seminar. I am hoping someone will be able to provide clear direction to me about this.

  20. My filipina fiancee will officially have her k1 visa interview this coming Thursday in the Philippines. She pretty much has everything together. My lawyer's secretary is acting like she needs to have  the form g 28 for the interview which I think is a load of #######. All that form states is that he is representing me and my fiance with the case. There is nothing that says this form has to be with the other documents at the interview. I have emailed the secretary and kindly suggested that she move faster with getting the form to us or otherwise we will proceed without it because it isn't necessary for the interview. Am I right to assume that? As I'm writing this I still don't have it and I'm not going to worry about it. I don't feel that it is necessary to print the g 28 out with the lawyer's signature because it isn't a required document for the interview. I am just making sure I am correct in saying this. This is for the k1 visa interview in the Philippines. She has all her other required documents.

  21. This is regarding the k1 interview for the Manila embassy. My fiancee accidentally left the actual mrv fee receipt in her province. She did send me a few pictures of the actual receipt after she paid the visa fee. Does she only need the number from the receipt or does she have to bring the physical receipt to her interview with her? I have read where the number is needed to schedule the interview which I did a few weeks but there is nothing that states that the actual physical receipt is needed. I do have pictures of it. I don't think she needs the physical copy just the number but I want to be sure for the Manila embassy.

  22. I don't mean to be trying to post a double or duplicate thread about this but somehow I think my last question slipped through and no one saw it. So here it goes again. Does anyone know if the US embassy in Manila ask for photos during the k1 visa interview?  I have read where many people said no but some have said yes. So I'm hoping for any vj person who has had experience recently in the k1 visa category to be able to give me advice for the k1 visa interview. My fiancee will have her interview next week. We took pictures when we met over 2 years ago and I can send some to her electronically if needed. I hope someone will let me know.

  23. This is a short topic. My fiancee has her k1 visa interview next week at the Manila embassy. I have heard several others who have been through the interview say that they don't even look at pictures but one out of 10 people say they might. Should I send her a few pictures since we have met or not worry about it. Any advice would be great from other past Manila interviews.
