MouadsWife got a reaction from Happytobe in ignorant comment
My husband and I have been together for a while now... and quite a bit has passed my ear since then and quite a bit will pass yours.  I have learned that what passes mine I keep in mine and do not pass on to my husband.  Yes I want to vent and share with my husband but sharing negative comments said about him and his culture only stresses him out.  You have to remember, "same as mine" that your husband is over here in a new culture, adjusting, and the more negative things he hears will just make it harder.  Keep things light and positive and don't whisper in his ear all the bad things people are saying about him/or his religion or culture or he 'may' develop a negative thought process.  You want him to be happy, make friends, and be welcoming, and have the ability to treat others and he would want to be treated.  This could close him off and build walls.  Just a thought... not saying you are.

The cell phone account being in your name will be okay, proves residence, and you can also show that she is on your account by showing she has a line on it. Show also the shared savings. If you can get a letter from the bank showing when the account was opened. And if you make regular deposits, show ongoing deposits (how much you deposit each year for 2015, and 2014 and previous). This shows that the account isn't in name only, that it is being used.

When I met my now husband online in 2008, after the discussion of possible marriage, I did some posts and research, and some on VisaJourney. Why not? It was something new to me, I was not sure if it was even possible. So I sought out information on VJ. How could that possibly make our relationship a scam? We have been together ever since, although VJ viewed our relationship with having 'red flags'. I think it is smart to research BEFORE meeting someone in person. To know what you can and can't do, to know what your limits are, before you get emotionally tied up, before you get finally spent flying back and fourth only to find out your unable to achieve what you started out to do. That, do not make it a scam. As one poster wrote, proposing marriage early on is in their culture. Do all relationships end in rainbows? No. Are their a lot of success stories? Yes! But be smart in the beginning and do your homework.

My husband is from Morocco. I was 40 when we met and we also have an 18 year age difference. Our visa was without difficulty and went very smooth. If you love each other do not worry about the age difference. But I won't tell you that its peaches and cream all the time. He will want children. There will be those awkward times. You will have to work on the marriage. And there will be insecure times you will have to overcome. As I said, we love each other more than anything. There are marriages that work and some that don't. Even the same age marriage tend to fall apart. So don't judge yours too harshly just because of the age difference. Its takes two people to make a marriage work no matter how old you are. Keep allll your proof... take a million happy pictures when you go... and if you truely love each other Allah will be with you till the end.

Well, you can't protect him. And your farther up north, there are quite a bit more muslims up north than there are where I live. Try living in the bible belt of good ole Alabama! My parents are Church of Christ. They resisted this whole relationship in the beginning, until they got to know him. We have faced our share of racism. Or rather 'I'. What has happened I have kept from from him. Slanderous remarks from our landlord, being turned down for housing, mostly that was the two biggies. Overall, he has been pretty much accepted and welcomed by our community. It was very difficult getting employment. Not having working history here. Doesn't matter what degrees you hold oversea's, without United States work history, your starting from the bottom... and it's even hard to get in from the bottom. We gave up trying, after applying to every place in the area. So we started our own business. We have a very successful Cell Phone Repair business and he has been accepted by our customers... many are very curious about where he came from. lol Even the Adhan goes off right on time in our business, and no one says a word, conversation goes right on as usual. Now this is a town with a church about every block! You are going to meet alot of ignorant people out there. What is important is, "What are you and your husband going to make out of your life?" What kind of example are you going to set? Don't spend your time worrying about what other people think. Because there's always going to be 'those' people out there. The more you stress about it, the more he will stress about it. Already he is worrying too much... just be happy and enjoy the life ahead of you. ;-)

MouadsWife got a reaction from Deleted_Account in Selective Service
You can call the Selective Service registration information line at 1-847-688-6888 t check your registration status. If they say you are not registered, fill out a 'Status Information Form'. https://www.sss.gov/Registration/Status-Information-Letter. After filling out the form, mail the form to the address on the form and you will receive a response back. When filing for your naturalization, submit a copy of the letter you receive back from them. You always, always, always, keep the original with you. You will want to have it for college, etc., or whenever information is requested on it as to why you did not, or failed to register. Please read the link I sent you and the below article. My husband did the same thing and had no problems with naturalization.
How to Get an Official Response from Selective Service
If you did not register with Selective Service, and are now a man 26 years old or older, you may be ineligible for certain federal or state programs and benefits, including U.S. citizenship. Some agencies may ask you to provide an official response from the Selective Service indicating if you were or were not required to register.
Complete a request form for a status information letter available here. You will have to describe, in detail, the circumstances you believe prevented you from registering and provide copies of documents showing any periods when you were hospitalized, institutionalized, or incarcerated occurring between your 18th and 26th birthdays. If you are a non-citizen, you may be required to provide documents that show when you entered the United States. Please include your name, social security number, date of birth, and return address.
You can call Selective Service to receive such a letter, 1-847-688-6888. Your call will be answered by an automated voice processing system. Please refrain from pressing any numbers, and an operator will soon come on the line to assist you.
IMPORTANT: When you get your status information letter from Selective Service, KEEP this important document in your permanent files for future reference. Provide a COPY of your status information letter to submit with your application for student financial aid, employment, security clearance, U.S. citizenship.

"The only way this would be relevant would be if it is a violent, domestic violence, or sex crime....." ????? Well he's not in because he got a gold star for good behavior.....
And as far as "he WON"T be required at the AOS interview", you can waiver, you can file, you can speculate, you can pray, but it's STILL up to the uscis... And I'm sure with him being such a good outstanding citizen, the uscis will have his best interest at heart and all will go fine! So I don't think candy-coating this process for her when there's so many red lights and flags its blinding is at the best interest.

I agree. I do not think they will hold him by the same standards. Not being able to attend the (AOS) with your spouse because your serving your country is not the same as not attending because your are now property of the state or Federal Government because you are now an inmate. Getting approved or denied is not solely based upon a set of written laws. Its not black and white. We ALL know it 'can' be based upon opinions of the interviewer. That can pave the road easily. The OP has not disclosed the reason for his incarceration for reasons other than, "I just don't want to", its because we all know its a biggie lurking there behind that door. It's obvious. I don't think its going to be as easy as everyone is predicting it is going to be.

I got the vice versa backwards regarding the biometrics, ....but as a peitioner, he would need to go to the interview with her. Thats part of the whole process in proving marital status. I think this one is going to be hard to prove as being a bonafied marriage. We are all aware that when we go through and prepare for the interview process, certain evidences have to be obtained. Joint accounts, credit cards, bank, etc, leases, mortgage or rent, insurances, pictures proving ongoing relationship HAVE to be supplied. If the petitioner is in prison, and can't supply any of these evidences, how can this be a bonafied marriage "in the eyes of uscis"... (note: I did not say in the eyes of of peers, man or God. ) I said in the eyes of uscis which is a "Completely" different thing.

Unless things have changed... say they file the k1 and they're approved... after she comes over here and files for AOS, biometrics will need to be done (but he can't because he's in prison), then there's the interview, but he can't attend that either because (he's in prison).... Have i missed anything folks? So HOW is this going to work? You might say we here do not know anything... but one one hand we have one petitioning from prison and the second coming in from (i forgot where already. .. africa? ) Nevertheless, prisons are just as much high fraud as high fraud countries. You have a bunch of desperate lonely inmates with limited computer access. And many inmates (if all) in there are trying to find a sympathetic ear or trying to find someone to take advantage of. Its a cycle. I dont know how you met... but I'd be extremely cautious. He's there for a reason.

I never approved of giving relationship advice, or marital advice in that matter. But I will tell you what I tell my daughter. You are the first and foremost important person in this world, and you should be treated accordingly. You are not second best, but you first class and you deserve to be treated as such. Never settle in life because you do not think you will find better, or you do not think there will be another, or you think this all you will get or this is what you deserve. You will end up living a life of 'what if's' and sadness and longing for 'what would have been's'. God gave you one life and you deserve to live it to the fullest. You deserve to have that one man who will treat you like the princess you are. Who will give you back all the love that you give him. Who will be there in all the happy times and the sad times, who will hold your hand through it all. A man who will come home to only you. Love yourself first, never settle, and live your life to the fullest. Where one door closes, one door will always open. You deserve to be happy. You deserve to live your life to the fullest. So do what you must to do that.
