conventional wisdom says try couples counseling. if she refuses to go, try individual counseling. the purpose of either is to allow someone to help you explore your feelings and relationship issues. ideally, at least one of you will walk out with the knowledge that you tried everything reasonably possible. this will shorten the grief period and make the grieving process more complete. it will also help you determine if you have moral basis for divorce, so to alleviate any internal conflict you may have. you must have some, or you wouldn't be posting here at this hour. the process may help you explore your motives and concepts, and may help you establish more meaningful future relationships. the result depends on your willingness to be honest with yourself.

i have a problem with whiners who deny that immigration fraud occurs when it is so widespread.
i also have a problem with people saying that they were "abused", but that their new boyfriend is perfect, and they want to stay in America because they have so much effort invested in getting here.
anyone who has worked with real victims of domestic abuse knows that they do not form trust object transferrence relationships quickly after separation from a genuine abuser, and that they want to be free of all things associated with such a person. i have seen very few posters on this board with this pattern of behaviour asking about how they can keep their immigration benefits. i have seen lots more posters who do not evidence a history of genuine abuse asking about how they can keep their immigration benefits.

PI gives these seminars because so many American creeps marry PI women and treat them like slaves.
PI women are treated poorly all over the world. it doesn't matter if they are working in japan, the ME, or india. they get treated like ####### because arrogant people know they will tolerate it for a chance at a decent salary, much of which they send home to support family.
Same thing happens in a surprisingly high number of PI wife marriages. they don't complain too much to people at home because they don't want to dissappoint or be embarrassed. still, everybody knows it, and the gov't tries to protect the expats as much as possible through education and advocacy, no matter what mechanism takes them out of their home country.
sure, lots of guys treat their PI princess really well, but too many PI girls are K1'd into a life of misery with guys who cannot really afford to support a wife, guys who are insecure and will be unreasonably restrictive and jealous of their time, guys who will be demanding of sexuality from a woman who does not feel "safe" in the relationship, guys who are sexually perverse or withholding, guys who ...
some scammers play into this by provoking the division within the relationship, so they have a reason to go 2 years down the road. some provoke violence so they can VAWA sooner. either way, an unreasonably unmatched relationship is easy to tear apart, due to insecurity in one or both parties.

The entire "I'm a holy religious guy who doesn't pay a bunch of hard working janitors squat, has mom living with me, send my children to a church school" thing stinks. I grew up in a family that scored almost as high on the same scales, and can say without a doubt that abuse takes many forms in such families.
