There is remote possibility of this becoming an issue in the future.

What's the long term plan? Are you going to have this renter in your house when your fiance comes over to the US? You know USCIS, if they don't trust the marriage, can always knock on the door and check who lives in the house? They are somewhat old school and may be surprised by arrangement.

Similarly, this is something I would discuss with the fiancée, is SHE ok with you having a roommate? is she ok with having a roommate when she moves to you?  Culturally, and personally, it can be totally acceptable, or a big absolutely not.  Money is important, people [yourself, your fiancé, and the roommate] are more important.

Fascinating, I'm sure that policy never gets abused up there in Canada. Regardless, I can't find one US state where it is legal.

They do check the border entry/exit reports against the EI claims, so it is not that easy to abuse.
Just checked for my state and you are allowed to visit Canada while receiving unemployment.

Yea, the website says "See the instructions" and then you download the instructions, and it says "Please see our website"

    Maybe the link is wrong?

These two pages should cover most of it, then you will receive instructions prior to the interview about specific requirements for your location.

Thanks. I thought I read somewhere several months ago about sending the form to the fiancee to sign the form and then she sends it back, but I guess I misread that. The page didn't mention that form is brought to the interview, so thats the main thing I was missing.

The flowchart and guides are only an overview of what needs to be done.  You will still need to refer to the instructions for each form, and instruction from the interviewing consulate.

For example, you can see that:
    "Where to File
Where you submit Form I-134 depends on whether the beneficiary named on this form is inside or outside the United States and what type of application or petition this form is being submitted with. See the instructions provided with the corresponding application or petition for detailed information on where to submit this Declaration of Financial Support."

Hi, just a quick update, had it confirmed by US Customs and Border Protection at JFK that the baby will be allowed to enter the US without a visa or a transportation foil under these circumstances pursuant to: 8 CFR 211.1(b), 22 CFR 42.1(d), 9 FAM 201.2 (b)(1). When will we enter the US CBP will file all the necessary paperwork to the USCIS to make the baby a LPR, without any fee.

I am still trying to get the airline to confirm that they will let the baby board the plane without a visa. The CBP have suggested that I ask them to contact the regional carrier liaison group and they will confirm that the baby’s visa requirements are waived.

I hope this information is useful to others, especially hanks for all of the advice. Back to dealing with a breech baby.

Great news then!  How long does it take to get a UK passport, not too long I hope?

Last resort, of course, but it is an option that works, even though expensive.

Probably less expensive than redoing the whole process for 6 of them... Also, I might be mistaken, but I think some of their kids will be ageing out - if the consulate is not agreeable, they will have to be active and find their own solutions.  They might even have a better plan already, who knows?

I am so frustrated. We were granted expedited interview scheduling a month ago and still NOTHING. It's impossible to get a hold of the embassy - have we been forgotten? Is there anyone in here who has gone through the expedite interview process in Canada? Desperate for some information.

They are a small team, with a lot of requests.

If they spent their time answering questions by email and on the phone, they would have even less resources to work on visas. They will not answer your questions if the information can be found on their website or Information Center.  If nothing has changed since your last communication with them, they won't lose their time and repeat their answer.

Hi. This site helped me on my journey from canada a few years ago and I need others experiences again....My daughter moved down with me from Toronto and we filed the adjustment of status in June '23. She's already been through the medical exam (Oct '23) and we've heard nothing since. My problem is : she's accepted an offer to attend university in London England this fall and I'm worried it won't happen by then. Has anybody been through something similar. Can we .are a request for her to leave without destroying her application? Thanks

How old is she? Are you an American citizen?  What visa did she have to move to the USA? Does she intend to live in the USA?

Yes, I understand that she shouldn't be gone for too long and etc. She will come back to the US in a couple of months and permanently live here. But my main concern is how can she prove before she arrives in the US that she has a visa to enter the US? For example, the airline because all she has in the visa paper is when it was issued and when her medical examination expires. How can I determine when her temporary green card expires? How can the airline determine when her temporary green card expires?

She did her medical checkup on August 14, 2023.

Look at pages 2 and 35
