@Queens2008 the processing times as of today is 15.5 months for 80% of cases.
    You can check here.

I don't think you can tell whether electronic or paper is faster.

The only difference is few days for mail to reach USCIS vs online submission. Which is negligible in the grand scheme of things (15.5 months wait)

Thanks all for the replies. We were able to call Selective Service when they opened Monday morning and they confirmed that when USCIS registered him, they didn't send his SSN, so that's why we're not able to find his record through the site. The lady on the phone updated his record so it is now accessible through the site, and confirmed that he was indeed registered before his 26th birthday. So we now have the proof of his on-time registration.

@Hemutian In your case you seem to have quite a bit of evidence. I would not give more information than needed. Save explanation for RFE which you are unlikely to receive.

If you ever petition a family member for a green card you will need the original.

I’ve seen some spiral based N-400 cases where the citizen spouse, despite not being born in the USA was required to provide a foreign birth certificate. Weird.

Until 5 years, I always had to have my Canadian birth certificate to renew my Canadian passport.

I would get it. Years ago my province moved away wallet size BCs and I went through great effort to get the full sized BC.  I will likely need to get my kids their Canadian certificates of citizenship

You only provide what you have. What you see on VJ are just "guides."

AND no, no explanation to USCIS.

I am not a licensed lawyer, so please do not rely on my advice as if it was an ultimate source of truth.

My suggestion to submit evidence now and not wait for RFE. If it is something small and can be rectified during the interview itself, you can choose to do that.

OldUser got a reaction from Chancy in Traveling outside US with pending I-751
    Hi @tony777
    1. Very risky. Sometimes reschedule does not work, and USCIS denies the case, assuming you didn't show up. Sometimes, the case gets stuck indefinitely or for many months after rescheduling. So I would strongly advise changing travel plans and rush back to the US to attend the interview if you get called.
    2. You should be able to enter with expired green card and valid original extension letter.

Just make sure the GC doesn't get lost or bounced back. It would be an expensive and painful accident.

That's how I see it, too.  Filing online gets you a receipt immediately.

Hello everyone a quick update..i want to thank everyone who took their time to share their opinions and criticisms good & bad. I was called in by a supervisor to finish up my interview back in August and in less than 5 minutes it was approved. The supervisor apologized for what happened previously as that officer has handed over all of his cases and outgoing. I will just leave it at that!!!  ( Let God be your vindicator) . US passport already at hand and special thanks to everyone again especially those who took the time to respond to my DM's. All the best!

    1. Did he have an SSN at the time  he filed I-485?

    2. If so, did he provide his SSN in his I-485?

    3. Your timeline  says he entered the USA on a K-1. Was he under age 26 when he entered the U.S.?

    4. Was he under age 26 90 days after he entered the U.S. on his K-1?

False. Worse case he can apply for citizenship after he reaches age 31.

However he can argue that he relied on the promise USCIS made in form I-485.  However we haven’t yet established he had to register or that he wasn’t registered. See my questions above.

If he was age 26 or older when he applied for his drivers license then it would have too late to register.

@ADAngel why not try to get I-551 stamp in his passport? That should work well for proving his LPR status. The 24 month extension letter probably doesn't have much left on it anyways. Waiting for I-751 approval does not impact his ability to naturalize in the future at all.

Field office: Denver, CO. Hello everyone, we had our K1 AOS interview  on Oct. 13, 2022. It was more like a regular conversation than an actual interview. Questions were primarily focused on when we got married, where we got married, my parent's name (to her) and the officer typed whatever we said into the computer (she asked to describe our relationship). She found out that the consulate forgot to send them the medical (or maybe they did and it got lost in transit) so she said she will issue us an RFE for medical. It was pretty relaxing, except for the long wait in the waiting room waiting for an officer to call us.

Marrying strictly for immigration purposes is fraud.

What is the penalty for marrying someone for a green card? [2022] (stilt.com)
"INA 275 (c), states that any individual who enters into the marriage purposely and knowingly intending to evade any provision of immigration laws shall be imprisoned for not more than five years and be fined not more than $250,000 or both"
