OldUser got a reaction from JasVW19 in Upcoming Travel – Different Last Names on German & U.S. Passports
This makes sense, of course you cannot travel on German passport since you're no longer a citizen. OP is a dual citizen and their travel will be different.
Also, with introduction of ETIAS, whenever it is enforced, travelling on EU passport would mean you don't have to fill forms and pay fees.

OldUser got a reaction from Rekyrts in Updating citizenship status with SSA in 2025
Sorry for late reply. In my case, QR code directed to "scheduling system", which was office locator with wrong phone number pretty much.
This is the QR code I saw in SSA itself and on the print out empoyee gave me. The only thing, employee wrote real phone number on paper under QR code, which helped me to schedule appointment.

Petitioner is for an Immigrant visa, you have no involvement in someone elses visitor visa application.

OldUser reacted to top_secret in N400 Reduced Fee Help
100% they will reject it for mixing pages from different editions. That is why it was rejected. The rejection notice says "If you submitted I-912, Request for a Fee Waiver, or this form is available for a Fee Exemption, the determination of the Fee Waiver or Exemption has not been made at this time." They didn't even consider if the fee waiver is valid or not.

OldUser reacted to Bat man in N400 February 2025 General Provision
Filed N400: February 10 (Online) We submitted 87 days early instead of 90 because I read some people had problems when filing exactly at the start of the 90 day window. Also we submitted under 3 year rule. My husband has 10 year GC.
Biometrics: March 3
This morning (May 12) we got notification that our interview had been scheduled for June 30th

OldUser reacted to Reynal2m in Some guidance please
You can begin your application online, and the system will save your progress for 30 days. Each time you log in and make changes, the 30-day period resets. However, if no changes are made within 30 days, your application will be deleted. The online platform is self-guided and will inform you of the documents you need to upload. Be sure to read and follow the instructions carefully.

OldUser got a reaction from Jason Katzif in Girlfriend with F-1 Visa and I want to propose
Yes. I-485 receipt proves she can remain in the US. Advance parole allows leaving the US while AOS is pending. The general recommendation is only leave in case of emergency like death or illness of family member or close relative.

OldUser reacted to Edward and Jaycel in K1 question about timeline limitations or deadlines for filing DS-160, scheduling biometrics, medical and interview
A lot of this is going to be dependent on which embassy this is processing through. Generally embassies will NOT grant an extension of the expiration date on the I-129F NOA2 ahead of time. (We had the same question in Manila because we were worried about not getting an interview scheduled before it expired. We contacted the embassy and they said that they do NOT extend the validity date ahead of time, that it is the Consular Officer that does it at their discretion at the time of the interview.) Personally I think this all is a risky undertaking and your fiancé(e) should schedule their interview as soon as an appointment is available. There is no guarantee that an interview slot will be available in November and most embassies do not allow the petitioning fiancé(e) in the building with the interviewee anyway. The DS-160 is valid for 1 year from the date it is submitted. My advice is to get this done as soon as the scheduling allows. Good Luck!

OldUser reacted to carmel34 in I751 Pending while Separated - Next Steps???
File for divorce today if you or your spouse have not already done so. Send a letter to the USCIS center that sent the I-751 receipt (and include a photocopy of the receipt) notifying them that you wish to amend the previous joint application to a divorce waiver, that you are now living separately from your USC spouse, that the divorce is pending, and include the mailing address where you currently live. Also file an AR-11 with USCIS online to confirm your change of address. No need to file a new I-751 or pay another fee. When you receive the official divorce decree, send a photocopy to the same USCIS center, or to the new one if they notify you that the location has changed due to your new address. If you receive an RFE asking for the divorce decree, you will normally have 90 days to respond. If you do not have the divorce decree in that time frame, your I-751 will likely be denied and you can file another one, with a divorce waiver, after the divorce is final. With the current administration, it is very important that you do things right or it could jeopardize your legal status in the USA. Good luck!

OldUser got a reaction from carmel34 in I751 Pending while Separated - Next Steps???
This is the last thing to worry about.
The bigger issue USCIS mistakenly approving I-751 without knowing your living situation. Or if they accuse you of misrepresentation. What will happen if USCIS officers knock on the door at the other address tomorrow morning? Would you be at that address? What the spouse would say to them? If you're not there, you may be accused of immigration fraud / misrep. It will be a much bigger headache than few months of possible delay. Yout case will be slower anyway with converting it to divorce waiver etc.

OldUser got a reaction from Crazy Cat in Please please help me - should we abandon everything and leave the US?
I'm really really sorry about your situation. I think this decision is very important and has long term consequences. Your family are the only ones who can decide what's right or wrong for your happiness.
From immigration standpoint, if your husband and son leave now, they'll abandon their adjustment of status (is that what they have pending?)
However, if they arrived on tourist visas on April 26, 2025 this year and immediately applied for adjustment - that's really bad. You can't come on tourist visa with intention of adjusting.
Can you tell us more about what petitions are pending?

OldUser reacted to carmel34 in In total Panick!! Please Advice
If the petitioner did not disclose the prior marriage on the I-130 that was approved, there will likely be issues of misrepresentation to overcome. A very good US immigration attorney will be needed to try and fix this.

Your spouse didn't tell you or didn't tell you until just before the interview?
You have a much bigger issue than needing to find a divorce decree.

You should expect transparency and assistance from your spouse. I advise you address that with him.

OldUser reacted to J.M. in In total Panick!! Please Advice
It's unusual that he would not be aware of what county (or state) that divorce was filed. Both Texas and Louisiana require six months of state residency and 90 days of county (parish in Louisiana) residency before divorce can be filed, so maybe this will narrow it down a bit. Divorces are public records in both states. Notification of the other party is mandatory, except in very rare circumstances, so he really should know something.

OldUser reacted to Ontarkie in In total Panick!! Please Advice
Your husband should have been served when she filed for divorce. He should know where it was filed.
Your lawyer needs to earn his fee and find that divorce decree.
I would be more worried that you were not informed of this divorce and how he did not submit the decree at the time of filling.

OldUser reacted to Crazy Cat in In total Panick!! Please Advice
Are you currently out of status? Your attorney should be able to find the divorce decree (if it exists).
