  1. Not sure, haven't decided yet. Still waiting on the interview appointment, just got DQed yesterday.
  2. I was in the same position - did not upload the I-864A for the spouse, and got DQed without it. Not sure if the IO will request it, might just fill it out just in case.
  3. Of course, will do. In the meantime, have a look here: Someone mentioned we might get an interview for early November which would be amazing - might make it for Christmas
  4. Thank you, that sounds promising! I'll start a thread once I've actually spoken to my GP, I'll have more info then
  5. Guess I'm joining this thread now, just got DQ'ed this morning Reading through the last few pages it looks as though London schedules beginning of the month, so I might get an interview date beginning of October? For maybe end of November or December? I am a bit concerned with the medical, as I self-harmed once as a teenager, well over 10 years ago now. Not sure if I need to bring anything with me? I never saw a GP / psychologist for it, it was just a "trend" that I tried out back then and regretted it since. Will this likely be an issue? I can try talking to my current GP to write me a letter, but the surgery I'm with is very... dismissive of their patients. So not sure if they'd be willing to write anything? Any suggestions? Thank you
  6. Woke up to very good news this morning - got DQ'ed, first time around! Submission date was 21st of July, but then I read all the accounts about hand-signed I864 being required, so I submitted another copy, with hand-signature, on the 16th of August. It seems to not have reset the clock Happy, as I was slightly worried about Singapore police certificate (didn't provide one, as I stayed there only 10 months, submitted affidavit to that effect) and domicile for my wife (she currently lives with me abroad, submitted affidavit with bank accounts in the US), but it all went through smoothly Now to wait for the interview letter. Good luck to everyone still waiting!
  7. Considering how much smaller this thread is compared to other month's, maybe not a lot of VJ users submitted in July? If so, maybe NVC will manage to get through July faster
  8. Ah fair enough, that makes sense. I can see in your post history though that you only got an RFE for tax return / transcript. I suppose that means that your proof of US domicile has been accepted? I mean I can upload a utility bill in his name or something like that but it seems overkill when it's not required for a US mailing address.
  9. I am curious about this actually looking deeper into this. On the official website, under financial documents, it states: If you completed Form I-864, I-864A, or I-864EZ and your mailing address and/or place of residence is not in the United States, but your country of domicile is the United States, write an explanation and provide documentary evidence indicating how you meet the domicile requirement. Review our FAQs to learn more about domicile From https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/step-5-collect-financial-evidence-and-other-supporting-documents.html This indicates to me this only applies when the mailing address and/or place of residence is not in the US. That is true for my main sponsor for whom I provided the proof of domicile. But for my joint sponsor, on the I-864 it does state a US mailing / residence address. So why does NVC have it automatically as their "required documents"? If you got accepted with just a driving licence, surely that should work for me as well?
  10. Ok, but on his I-864, his mailing & physical address is the US. I can't find anything online regarding domicile proof for joint sponsors, only for main sponsors. Any suggestion what document I could upload to show joint sponsor domicile? I find it weird they ask for it but no guides online state anything about joint sponsor being asked for proof of domicile.
  11. Yeah, for main sponsor we also had to submit a lengthy one, as she currently lives with me outside the UK. But joint sponsor we weren't expecting having to submit anything, just passport, which we did submit + tax returns for last 3 years.
  12. Hi, For some reason NVC has "Proof of US domicile" listed as required documents for joint sponsor, but not for main sponsor. Joint sponsor has US passport / citizenship and tax returns. I uploaded the tax return as the domicile proof, but wondering if there's more I should add as additional documents? I already submitted the application and want to avoid an RFE for it.
  13. Ah that's great to know thank you for your reply! Congratulations I assume that the additional document upload did not change / affect your predicated timeframe?
  14. Hi, I'm in the same position as you! Do you have any updates how it went? Did they accept the original I864, or the one you uploaded as additional documents? Thank you!
  15. Thank you. I mean, I don't live there anymore and haven't for years, it was just for a study abroad program. So hopefully it should be OK?
  16. Not sure. I've seen people successfully self-certify, but for adjustment of status in the US. I think / feel like embassies have a different burden of proof. For the US embassy in London, on the website they ask for an "official" translation, so I just went and used an online service that does documents for USCIS. I'm still at NVC stage, hopefully they'll accept it without an issue.
  17. 1) As far as I'm aware, and from what I've seen online, most embassies do not require notarization of translations, just a certification of the translator. See here: Of course it could be more strict for some embassies, not sure about the one in Prague. 2) Country of residence: 2 year validity. Other countries don't expire unless you return there: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/step-5-collect-financial-evidence-and-other-supporting-documents/step-7-collect-civil-documents.html
  18. Why 6 months? On the official website (https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/step-5-collect-financial-evidence-and-other-supporting-documents/step-7-collect-civil-documents.html) it states: "Have ever lived in another country for 12 months or more" I've lived in Singapore for 10 months and somehow had it as "required document", so I submitted a signed affidavit saying that I've only lived there 10 months, with entry and exit proof, and as such do not believe I require a police certificate. Am I likely to get an RFE?
  19. Didn't find a thread for July so starting one. Submitted on the 21st. Good luck everybody!
  20. Ah thank you. This to me sounds like it'll be difficult to pre-ship personal belongings worth over $100? That just adds to the stress of moving...
  21. Thank you for the link! That's helpful. I did not mean to insinuate not filling out a customs form - of course we would. I am just wondering how much easier it is to get items through customs as US citizen - I imagine easier, and less paperwork to fill out? I am also wondering, as BBGG wrote: If this applies to US citizens, or even more to my wife sending her / our personal belongings to her parents? As mentioned, I'd like to pre-ship some boxes to make moving easier later on. Regarding this - is it per person or for the entire group? Thank you.
  22. Very helpful, thank you. I have a question regarding shipping: My wife is a US citizen, currently living with me in the UK, moving back at the same time as I am flying into the US. Does this make the moving process easier? I was thinking pre-shipping a few boxes of stuff we don't need right now, like board games, LEGO, etc. On all the documents can we just use her name and her US passport, and her parents would receive the boxes? This way I wouldn't need to send any immigration documents, A-number, etc. right? As it would just be a US citizen moving back to the US? What's the best way to go about this? Thank you in advance. Also, I have 3 unopened bottles of wine that are of sentimental value to me - is there any way I can bring / ship these with me? I'd rather not drink them (yet)
  23. Hi, Last week I submitted all documents. When I log into CEAC, it says in the right-most column "Submitted" for all 3 parts, sponsor, joint sponsor and applicant. However, when I go to the "Application Status" page of CEAC: https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx?App=IV It tells me that I submitted DS-260 and now need to submit all documents before they review it. Is this normal that this status doesn't update? Or do I have to do anything else after submitting all documents? Thank you
