They have the approve your request, which takes maybe a couple of hours if it’s earlier in the day. We requested it around 4PM and got the approval very early the next morning. After that you log back in and can see the calendar with dates and times to officially make the appointment.

I guess it's great news for almost everyone. Hopefully you get the notification to set up an interview soon.

I had my interview on October 4th and picked up my passport yesterday! So the whole process took a bit over 2 months for us, as well. DCF is definitely a lot faster than the regular application.

Congrats! Lucky you. Our Packet 3 is at the consulate since Sept 27 and to my reminder they replied "Due to the large amount of mail, we currently cannot go through the mail to check if your document(s) have arrived"

Thank you!! Good luck with the process to you, hopefully it won’t take too long to get the I-130 approval!

Thank you, both! We sent them another email this morning, inquiring about the status of the petition and a few ours later we received the approval! I didn't want to bother them again but I guess sometimes it's needed.

Two more questions, if I may:
    1. If we want the visa to be delivered to a home address, I need to register at https://www.ustraveldocs.com/de/de-iv-documentdelivery.asp and send the confirmation with the documents correct? The explanation in their email confused me a bit and I just want to double check.
    2. Also, you said your interview appointment is on October 2nd. Was that the earliest available date or was it just a convenient date for you? I am asking, so we can have a better idea of the possible timeline onwards.

    Thank you!

Thank you for answering all my questions! We just sent out the package 3 documents and hopefully things go quickly from here.

Yes, plus tax transcripts/returns and mabye some documentation for reestablishing domicile.
You will also be required to turn in your original marriage certificate and divorce certificates, if applicable.
One more photograph and a copy of your passport.
And when they send you the approval you will need to print out the last page of the email to fill out.

    Hi all,

My visa has been approved and I just received it in the mail!

I've updated my timeline as well but including it below as well.

    2022
Feb 2 - submitted request to file DCF to TOKYOIV@state.gov.
Feb 3 - received notice for the I-130 petition appointment at the embassy Feb 14 - my husband submitted the I-130 (and I-864) and completed his interview at the embassy
Feb 17 - I-130 petition approved & received instructions to complete my DS-260 online, arrange medical visa appointment and secure police certificates

(In between these dates, I was mainly waiting to receive my police certificates from Canada, Japan and Singapore. I was able to secure the medical visa appointment quickly enough once my DS-260 was completed)

Mar 22 - received visa interview appointment request visa email with interview date
Apr 27 - visa interview date. I was also told during the interview that my visa was approved. (my husband came along but he didn't have to be there)
Apr 29 - received visa (in passport) via mail. Included in it were instructions to make additional payment online before departing for the US and a "do not open" paper package that I've got to hand carry and submit to an immigration officer at the port of entry to the US

My experience with the American embassy in Tokyo was great in that everything was processed very quickly. I am still immensely pleased it has taken slightly under 3 months for the entire process.

The most frustrating part about this process for me however was getting the police certificates which I've detailed in an earlier post.

@my_gf_wants_cr1 I ended up not asking about changing my address (where my green card will be mailed to) as I'll be staying at my in-laws during the time I expect to receive it. However for those who want to change the address they submitted to USCIS, there are instructions that came with my visa for changing that online.

    Hope this has been useful!

Honestly, I wouldn't. You don't really know that person and it sounds sketchy with the whole "I would marry you without knowing you". Sounds like a "I'd love a green card". Not necessarily the case, but possible. Anyways, going to a foreign country to meet a person you don't really know by yourself is too risky in my opinion. Make sure you have your friends with you when you first meet and if things go well, you can spend time with him alone. That's my advice.

This dataset is based on an app I wrote to collect all the status information; takes the time for me to collect the data for the month from ~90 minutes to 20 minutes.  It doesn't pull them 100% accurate to the case tracker app; it in fact pulled some more in.  I also re-categorized some applications that were withdrawn or voided as rejected for the sake of improving completion percentage accuracy. With that it mind there was a lot of progress over the past few days, lots of RFEs from the start of the month are back in to being in progress.

The numbers are a bit fuzzy because of the additional cases, but the numbers processed are comparable to the rate from the previous data collection.

There is a bit of a lead time on a cases being processed vs the 7 month cutoff, so fingers crossed to those who haven't got their cases processed yet (Myself included😭)

She can apply for Advance Parole (AP) when applying for green card, which allows her to travel while waiting for adjustment of status. However, that's only for short trips, not for staying in Yemen until she gets her green card, for example. She also needs to wait a few months to receive her AP document.

Basically, yes. USCIS does a background check on the petitioner before approval (NOA2). I've been thinking the same thing - maybe they start with the same dates approximately at the same time, but it depends on how fast the background check is done. IDK if that's how it works, though. We can't do anything to change the process, so we might as well find ways to rationalize it and make ourselves feel better haha.

I was skipped for the Sept 14 approvals. So frustrating to feel your relationship is just a packet of paper that may or may not be seen.
