For those who have just filed your I-129f application with USCIS, this thread has been created for your needs and for you to be with others experiencing different aspects of this journey. This is a place to ask questions and to share experiences. All are here to learn together. Good luck because this is a long process currently running 5-6 months from filing date for your NOA2 approval.

Also, since your application will go through a number of background checks this is a primer on what goes on with the background process.

 

I know it really sucks, but the best way to get through this is to lower your expectations and try not to compare your timeline to anyone else's. Don't forget that the people here on Visa Journey represent a tiny percentage of all the petitions the CSC has to work through! When someone gets to your file you'll hear from them. Stay busy, talk a lot with your fiancé about non-visa stuff, don't forget to hang out with your friends, take up a new hobby, go to a sporting event, and your time will come! Good luck

I sent my application in on 9/30 and it was delivered on 10/5. I still haven’t gotten any notification that they received it nor have they cashed my check. Is this normal?

Yes, it's normal. Usually 2-4 weeks before you see your NOA1 letter. Keep checking for your check to have been cashed. Have patience. This is going to be a long ride. 

 

while you are waiting can you so a little housekeeping on your end. Many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. When we look at the left column and can't determine your timeline OR your Embassy it's hard for us to give you a factual answer. Our answers will sometimes be tailored to a specific Embassy hence the reason for you to complete your profile. If you look at the profile of others here, they have a flag for their country, so it makes it easy for us to reply as we can quickly determine their Embassy. The country that should be used is the country where the interview will take place.
 
So, if you could help yourself out and complete your profile that sure would help us out when we want to reply to your question with factual information.

Can you complete your profile? I offered up instructions on how to complete this exercise in my earlier post. Also, if someone answers your question an uncomplicated way to acknowledge that you were thankful for the answers is on the right-hand lower corner there is a "heart". Select it and you have some options to thank the person. I and others can't help you if we don't know where you are in the timeline of your application and what country you are seeking to interview at. That information is important as each embassy is different.

Normal processing of the issuance for a NOA1 is about 2-3 weeks. You are trending toward a longer than usual acceptance. A couple of key factors to look for is 1) has your tracking indicated the package was received? 2) Has your form of payment been executed? Having those two completed then you are close to receiving your NOA1. Good luck and stay engaged.

Thanks for your reply! It's a crazy and crappy situation at the moment with everything taking so much longer. Our tracking indicated it was, yes. As for our payment method, the money came out the same day as it was a cashier's check!

I added the information but I’m not sure how to display it with my posts. When I go to fill out my timeline I see the information in there.

 

I did finally get the text yesterday that my application was received and today they cashed my check.

I'm glad you received your NOA1. That's a baby step in the process but still important. Now it's a wait time of about 6.5-7.5 months unless things pickup.

 

Also, your profile looks perfect. Excellent job and thank you for completing that exercise. It is now much easier for us to opine to your questions as the embassy and your timeline are important components to the answer we give. Good luck and stay engaged.

Woo! My partner got the text last night, so we finally have our NOA1!! Let's hope London gets their stuff together and starts processing K-1s!

Question, will our letter have more information on it? - or just say it has been received?
