That's exactly it. You're writing paragraphs in perfect English, there's nothing that will trip you up. The sentences are similar to the questions on the civis test, as you will have to read " who was the first president" and write "the first president was George Washington". Don't overthink it, it's one phrase each.

Interview scheduled for April 11, hooray! I was worried about an interview later in the year due some health issues but since it's going to be next month that won't be problem. This is the first time USCIS actually scheduled something in my favor lol

It's hard to follow your story because you said you became a citizen through marriage but now wants to file for a green card for your ex-wife.

So you married wife A, both of you not US citizens. Divorced wife A, married wife B, she was a US citizen and got you your citizenship. Now you are thinking of remarrying wife A, is that it?

Besides extra scrutiny to clarify you didn't just married your wife B for citizenship purposes I don't see why not. Be prepared to prove your marriage to the US citizen was genuine and that you're not just trying to get citizenship for your non US wife. If you knew your non US wife before obtaining citizenship that will be another hurdle to prove you didn't marry just to get yourself and your first partner a US passport.

@Zumbadaddy This is what you need to do. Conditional permanent residents (those with a 2 year green card) are required to file for Removal of Conditions to receive their 10 year green cards, not I-90.  Your problem is now compounded because you need to get her back home and she needs to file ROC as soon as possible.

If you look at the USCIS page to file the I-90 online, it says this:

It is very clear about this, more than once.

This is an unfortunate mistake. If a proper I-751 had been filed, she would have received a 48 month extension letter long ago.

I'm surprised she hasn't received the "You are out of status" letter from USCIS if the I-751 was never filed.

I wouldn't do that because then uscis might reject the whole package for lack of payment. You have proof that it was received and that's all you need for now.

Got my citizenship interview scheduled for April 11, no mention of ROC and my case is still on "received on Jan 23" status. Will be prepared for a combo, I also used the template and added to the N-400 application.

Unable to edit the original post, but my N400 case status did update to "Oath Ceremony Will Be Scheduled" around 2 hours after the interview. Probably in the clear but will continue to monitor.

jackiegringa reacted to Redro in Marrying a U.S citizen who's in prison - which visa ?
You don’t need a special visa to get married in the U.S. or to a prisoner BUT there might be special rules around how to get married in his particular facility so you’ll want to investigate that.
Regarding being sponsored and living together. After getting married you can file the I130 and I130a- you might want to wait until after he has left the facility if he has difficulty completing the needed documentation online unless you plan on completing the paperwork together on one of your prison visits and mailing in a package.

Then you will wait for the I130 to be approved. You will have to more than likely find a joint sponsor as your partner might not make enough to sponsor you( and generally the non U.S. citizen cannot self sponsor unless they have an income in the US- if you have about $100K in savings though you might be able to use assets)
There are communities online of foreign women marrying prisoners in the US and a current TV show following foreign women marrying/ dating men based out of Michigan so you might want to find those groups for some support and tips while you navigate the process.
Good luck and I hope your first meeting goes well.

BE AWARE: THE SPOUSAL VISA PROCESS TAKES ABOUT 18-24 months. So, you won’t be moving to the US anytime soon. And you might want to visit several more times and really have a firm understanding of his crimes as you might be questioned about how well you know him/ the reasons he was incarcerated at the interview.

You should have a 4 year extension on this GC based on your I-751 application. If I would travel internationally while trying to straighten things out with USCIS is a different issue.

It might just take time, i wouldn't worry about it. The most common thing at the moment is for the biometrics to be reused but if it's not on your account you just have to wait until they send you something.

That extension letter is useless if it has invalid name or doesn't match name on GC.

I think you should keep getting I-551 stamps in passport while I-751 is pending. Hopefully, 10 year GC will come with the right name and country.

What name did you put in your I-751? I hope married name?

You're lucky you were able to board the plane to the US. Do not travel internationally without valid I-551 stamp in valid passport.

You should not attempt any more I-90 as your case is messy already. Also they won't issue an expired 2 year GC as replacement.

Just make sure I-751 has valid information.

@jackiegringa I found a couple other timelines from the STL area with N400 filing around the same time we filed:

Applied in October 2023 and already done with interview/oath! - https://www.visajourney.com/timeline/profile.php?id=118078; @sweetbrat they don't seem active on any forums/topics
Applied in January 2024 and waiting for interview - https://www.visajourney.com/timeline/profile.php?id=240174; @Carpe Vinum they seem active on some forums/topics but just not here. Maybe they will see my comment and keep us posted with their interview invite!

I didn’t. I think that I didn’t express myself correctly. She recently got here but it took a few months for the green card to arrive. I plan on applying for I-90 now and hopefully within a year it will get solved.
