I think that this is plainly and elegantly stated, and useful if we're ever involved in such a debate with someone. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ There Are Key Differences Between Voter Registration and Gun Registration I find it rather funny how often the people who decry voter registration would gladly require you to register your guns. They want just anyone able to vote, which has a massive impact on not just today, but for decades to come, but they don't want you being able to buy a firearm. Basically, they want voting rules to be as loose as possible, while making it virtually impossible to own a gun. But let's talk a bit about voter registration versus gun registration. Why? Because Ammoland did it, and that makes it seem like a hell of a place to start, honestly. Another lawyer takes issue with Jonathan Turley on this matter. Comments? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Professor Turley Gets the D.C. Statehood Controversy Wrong (a Deep Dive) Regular readers know that this author likes and admires Professor Jonathan Turley. The fact we are constantly highlighting his commentaryis proof on that point. But no person is perfect and we think he is getting it wrong in his latest column for The Hill: [...] We aren't even saying every point he is making is bad. Indeed, there is a lot in the column that doesn't have anything directly to do with the question of D.C. statehood that 1) is excellent, and 2) we aren't going to be talking about here. Still, the core of his column is basically this: [...] https://twitchy.com/aaronwalker/2025/08/16/professor-turley-gets-the-dc-statehood-controversy-wrong-a-deep-dive-n2417422

Associated Press Reports That Dogs Eat Meat, Which Contributes to Climate Change We know from watching CNN and the rest of the mainstream media that everything causes climate change. We're supposed to stop eating meat because cow flatulence causes climate change. Are we just supposed to kill off all the cows and start eating bugs? Do you know who else eats meat? Your dog. Yes, your dog is contributing to climate change with its diet. Are we supposed to get rid of dogs, too, or turn them all into vegetarians? KOMO News out of Seattle alerts us to the problem by republishing the Associated Press' story. I think that part of what's behind this is the need to straighten out D.C. before the U.S.'s 250th anniversary next year. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Under Trump Administration Orders, DC Homeless Camps Get Cleared Out One aspect of the Trump administration's takeover of the DC police is a renewed focus on clearing out homeless camps that have taken over numerous parks in the city. The New York Post reports today that 75 camps have been removed this week. [...] https://hotair.com/john-s-2/2025/08/15/under-trump-administration-orders-dc-homeless-camps-get-cleared-out-n3805865 -
Soros Insider Connects Obama's Inner Circle to Mamdani's Campaign The former president of George Soros' Open Society Foundations, a senior strategist for Barack Obama's 2008 campaign, former executive director of the Democratic National Committee, and current head of the Center for American Progress is now serving as a bridge between Obama-world operatives and Zohran Mamdani, the openly communist mayoral candidate who appears poised to take New York City. Many of us knew this right after the poison was rolled out. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Legacy Media Won't Touch These Explosive mRNA Vaccine Study Findings Earlier this month, Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. canceled nearly $500 million worth of grants and contracts tied to mRNA vaccine development, and announced the creation of a vaccine safety task force—an effort to address decades of alleged violations of the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act. The legacy media immediately went on the offensive, slamming the move. But now, stronger evidence has emerged showing that COVID-19 mRNA vaccines actually raise the risk of respiratory infections with each additional dose, leaving the defenders of these shots looking obstinate and unwilling to face reality. Real-world data out of Switzerland has vindicated what many of us have been warning all along: the risk-benefit equation for mRNA shots no longer makes sense for most healthy people. Just the News breaks down the new Swiss study, and its conclusions aren't merely inconvenient—they're downright explosive. This 4-minute video is a stark reminder of the whackos out there. Wow! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ WATCH: 'Karen's' Attack of Portland Dog Owner Perfectly Frames Left's Insufferable Bigotry [...] Portland's Mt. Tabor Park, my old stomping grounds on this mount to the east, a place known for what my elders called "necking" or "parking" while watching the city lights, has been turned over to the dogs. The city built a lovely dog park for Portlanders who just want to work out their pups, smile at their neighbors, and mind their own business. That has been temporarily ruined, however, because of that woman. There's a reason why venerable right-wing talk host Michael Savage decades ago coined the phrase, "liberalism is a mental disorder," and it's completely embodied in this person. We join the mental breakdown of this self-entitled vegan (we find out later) on Monday, August 11 (was there a full moon or something?) as she completely loses her mind at a "racist" man for walking what she believes are pure-bred dogs. And because he owns these "pure-bred" dogs, he's a Trump voter who supports ICE. But, wait, there's so much more. As you'll see in the video, she [...] https://pjmedia.com/victoria-taft/2025/08/15/portland-leftists-attack-of-dog-owner-perfectly-frames-the-lefts-n4942723

August 15 is the current anniversary of when civilization was saved, and jihad remains an active threat today. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Today in History: Greek Fire and God's Storms Save Constantinople from Islam On August 15, 718, Constantinople hurled back the greatest assault the forces of Islam had ever mustered — and in so doing, preserved Western civilization. The irony of this date runs deep: The Muslims' siege of that great city had begun on the same date a year earlier. And deeper still is the bitter fate that Constantinople — once the shield of Christendom — went on to suffer. The story is worth retelling in full. After several failed sieges of Constantinople, in 715 the Umayyad Caliphate decided that enough was enough. This time it would vomit forth everything it had in a single, all-consuming effort to bring down the ancient Christian capital. Caliph Suleiman summoned his younger brother Maslama, commanding him to lead Islam's combined might to Constantinople and "stay there until you conquer it or I recall you." The young emir accepted the task as a sacred honor; he vowed, "I [will] enter this city knowing that it is the capital of Christianity and its glory; my only purpose in entering it is to uphold Islam and humiliate unbelief." Maslama crossed into Christian territory with 120,000 jihadists and, as one near-contemporary chronicler records, "with both sword and fire, he put an end to Asia Minor." On August 15, the Muslim host began its assault on the city, which was under the command of the newly crowned emperor Leo III. Just weeks earlier, judged the ablest man to face the crisis, Leo — a former general — had been consecrated in the Hagia Sophia itself, the beating heart of Eastern Christendom (though today a mosque). Unable to breach Constantinople's cyclopean walls, Maslama waited for 1,800 ships carrying an additional 80,000 warriors to arrive, hoping to choke the city into submission. It was then that Leo acted. [...] https://stream.org/today-in-history-greek-fire-and-gods-storms-save-constantinople-from-islam/ -
'I Was Blown Away': Kash Patel Describes Explosive FBI Burn Room Discovery FBI Director Kash Patel says he was "blown away" by what he uncovered inside a hidden "burn room" at the bureau's headquarters, a locked area in the Hoover Building containing thousands of documents tied to the Russia-collusion hoax and other politically sensitive matters. In an interview with Fox News' Sean Hannity on Thursday, Patel described finding not just one, but seven government "burn bags," "specially designed containers for destroying classified evidence, along with hard drives belonging to former FBI leaders, including James Comey, Andrew McCabe, Peter Strzok, and Lisa Page. "I was blown away," Patel said. "But, sadly, it's come to be expected in this town when corrupt bureaucrats weaponize and destroy law enforcement like predecessors of mine did at the FBI." Patel explained that President Trump's mandate for "transparency and accountability" is driving his push to clean house and expose misconduct. "Think about this for a second," he told Hannity. "We exposed the Russiagate hoax… the FISA abuses, the corruption of political parties, and the lies to a federal court just to illegally surveil a presidential candidate. I came in years later thinking we uncovered most of it. But sadly, we found a room locked away locked away in the Hoover building that contained burn bags," he continued. "We didn't find one. We found seven. [...] https://pjmedia.com/matt-margolis/2025/08/15/kash-patel-describes-explosive-fbi-burn-room-discovery-n4942745

This reminds me of when Mrs. T-B. used her AP for the first time at a Texas-Mexico land POE. The CBP dude knew what an AP form was, but he had never processed one. He and one... then, two... colleagues were scrambling around trying to find the correct stamp, then an ink-pad with ink, then figuring out what to enter into the computer, etc. At times, it was borderline comical. Mrs. T-B. and I were sitting comfortably during this process, trying not to laugh. Eventually, however, they got it done. Amidst the chaos, they didn't do the "customs" part of the entry ("what are you bringing across?"), nor did they even scan my passport; they merely said, "You're good," and waved me through with Mrs. T-B. Little did we know that Mrs. T-B.'s green card was literally in the mail to her at that very time. Oh, yeah -- congratulations, and great story! -

Similar to Polaroid, these guys failed to fully anticipate and jump into the digital wave. It'll be sad to see them go. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Kodak's corporate doom: 133-year-old photo icon warns investors it may cease operations with $500 million debt problem After 133 years, a bankruptcy, and multiple reinventions, Kodak's latest snapshot is grim: The company says there's "substantial doubt" it can stay in business. In a quarterly filing released Monday alongside its second-quarter earnings report, Kodak's management raised serious concerns about its ability to continue operating over the next year. The warning stems from roughly $500 million in debt maturing within 12 months and the lack of committed financing to cover those obligations. Without new funding or successful refinancing, the company could default, they said. [...] https://www.yahoo.com/finance/news/kodak-corporate-doom-133-old-144537721.html

Trump Appointees & Nominees

Lies, Damned Lies, and Statistics at BLS President Trump has appointed E.J. Antoni, an economist from the Heritage Foundation, to head up the Bureau of Labor Statistics. This is an extremely challenging job because the traditional approach -- not going back months, but decades -- has always been terribly partisan. It is, almost by definition, based more on a ton of subjective opinions than on any actual objective facts. The press -- even the allegedly business-minded publications, which ought to know better -- is slamming President Trump for firing the last BLS chief, claiming that she was fired only "because last month's numbers weren't to his liking." It's a lie. In fact, [...] https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2025/08/lies_damned_lies_and_statistics_at_bls.html -

What's Really Behind Opposition to Trump's Move in DC? Lots of misinformation is being spread about President Donald Trump's decision to federalize law enforcement in Washington, D.C. Much of it is the usual Trump Derangement Syndrome: "fascist" tendencies toward "authoritarianism" at the expense of "black and brown" people because of DJT's "racism" and desire to bury the Epstein scandal. There's no "emergency" justifying the takeover. The "solution" is to do what Democrats failed to do for decades: Make DC the 51st state so it need not undergo such "humiliation." Where to start?
