The Habeas Corpus Discussion
TBoneTX replied to hplusj's topic in Current Events and Hot Social Topics
Some self-impressed judge in Seattle or Hawaii will put a stop to it, never fear! Too bad HC isn't suspended in regard to these judges themselves... -
100% Central Chimpanzee, actually, H ma'am. Celebrants in Vatican Square would be required to fling poo at me and each other.

Eagle Firing AR-15 Emerges From Vatican Indicating An American Pope Has Been Selected VATICAN — In an aerial display that delighted millions, the Vatican conclave released a bald eagle firing an AR-15 into the air to signal that an American pope had been selected. Sources say the crowd roared as the majestic eagle soared across the sky and the sweet sounds of 5.56 ammunition cracked in the air. "Yee-haw! We got ourselves a new Pope!" said thousands of Americans, who were also shooting their AR-15s into the air. "USA! USA! USA!" Rubio: You'd Better Believe We'll 'Review' Visa Status for Columbia's Pro-Hamas Rioters [...] Maybe next time, they'll stick to the quad, eh? This is what should have happened in every single riot and 'occupation' at Columbia. The NYPD do not have immediate jurisdiction in these matters; they had to wait for Columbia to request their intervention, which took months of riots and intimidation campaigns to finally happen. And it only happened in that instance because the rioters seized a building and took two janitors hostage, a case that is still playing out in courts. This time, Columbia got the police involved quickly after a couple of its campus police officers got injured in the riot. This was no doubt motivated in part to avoid any more sanctions from the Trump administration, which has already suspended much of the federal funds Columbia receives. The quick call to the NYPD this time allowed police to intervene appropriately, and to close the trap that the terrorist sympathizers created for themselves. Seventy-eight were arrested after they realized that they had no choice but to acquiesce. Where's the Beef? It's in Trump's Unprecedented Trade Deal With Britain The first of the cascade of trade and tariff deals expected under the new Trump administration was announced in the Oval Office on Thursday. The "unprecedented" deal was the first time in decades that American producers will have freer and "streamlined customs" access to the U.K. markets. The announcement allows the sale of U.S. beef into the U.K. for the first time in decades and ensures an increase in the purchase of Boeing commercial jetliners. Flanked by Vice President J.D. Vance and on a conference call with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, President Donald Trump announced an agreement "worth billions of dollars" with the U.K. that reconfigures tariff prices on goods, expands the market for American farmers and ranchers, and added a phalanx of Boeing jetliners to that nation's commercial fleet. The Trump White House called it "a breakthrough" and "a good deal." [...] https://pjmedia.com/victoria-taft/2025/05/08/wheres-the-beef-its-in-trumps-trade-deal-with-britain-n4939594

This is a wonderful editorial. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ There Goes Antarctica Our southernmost continent is, we've been told, the suffocating canary in the global coal mine. The more ice loss in Antarctica, the greater trouble we're in. So what do we make of a study which found that between 2021 and 2023, there was a record-breaking increase in the Antarctic Ice Sheet? We mark it down as another in a long line of misses from the global warming zealots. "Notably, four major glaciers in the Wilkes Land–Queen Mary Land region of East Antarctica reversed their previous pattern of accelerated mass loss from 2011 to 2020 and instead showed significant mass gain during the 2021 to 2023 period," says an article in SciTechDaily summarizing the report from Tongji University researchers. How could such an unanticipated event happen? [...] https://issuesinsights.com/2025/05/06/there-goes-antarctica/

Serious question, see man: We have a bunch of bookcases that should be cabinets, sigh man. Some of these bookcases are side-by-side, need access to either side at various times man. Aside from constructing doors for them, what options are there to mask the contents, huh man? Only idea we have is thick plastic sheeting to tape from the top, loose on the bottom, perhaps man. This would keep out dust and avoid assaults on the eye, keep contents from Many00% visibility man. The need would be to screen the bookcases' contents decently, but not opaquely, see what's there man. However, plastic sheeting is not very tasteful, conclude we man. We imagine that a paint store might have various choices of sheeting, si man. Or, if correctly sized, some kind of mosquito screen, perhaps man. Ex-Mrs.-T-B. has her garage door screened with the latter, held in center by magnets and looks very neat man. We are also concerned that miu might chew on plastic, dentally energetic miu man. Ideas and ordering-sources please, gracias man.

We forgot to mention that we entered an online ES auction with less than 2 hours to go, enter we man. If we did win it, it was for $Many ($2+2+1) + Many% buyer's fee, deal or steal man. We aren't sure where in the casa this will go, but storage is always desirable man. Miu will certainly want to sit on it, this is what mius do man. More details after pickup on Saturday, detail later we man.

Expired green card - Wanting to return

Such a bummer. Shows how intricate immigration issues can be and how unaware the non-VJ populace is. There's so much focus on illegal immigration that crucial aspects of legal immigration are completely overlooked. -

Hospital visibly pleased to get them, happy too we man man. In fact, volunteer with cart was waiting outside for our arrival, eager he man. On way back, lunched at Red Lobster, only one left locally to our knowledge man. We had not ingested there for Many years, not naturally near us man. We were the first customer inside the door, timing is everything man. We consumed a flounder sandwich, coleslaw, garlic mashed potatoes, hush puppies, and bread puffs, ingest we man. It was very filling at a decent price, satiated all day we man. Waitress had to be in her Manys, extremely seasoned citizen she man. We tipped her generously, grateful we man. Finished clearing office floor and vacuumed it completely, man. Big pile of filing remains, but we can deal with that man. We found a rolling Many-drawer ([2+2]-drawer) file in the garage* to bring upstairs, help with future clutter man. *bought at a GS a couple of years ago, financially savvy we man Now to start on downstairs, motivated we man. No party with the rubias tonight, no cavort we man. Friday morn, we should do our blood draw for next week's diabetes verdict, sweat we man. We have itineraried 2 ESs and a GS for Friday, itinerary we man. The GS is part of a square-mile community GS, most probably on Saturday however man. We must declutter this casa anyway, OK with us man. And that was/is our thrilling Thursday, report we man.
