  1. This is excellent, and not just from the autopen standpoint. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A New Document Casts Serious Doubt on Hundreds of Commutations Issued by the Biden Admin. 4. This article shreds and barbecues the "logic" of an esteemed imam. It also exposes the sneering, elitist snobbery of the Houston Chronicle, which is unfit for wrapping a dead fish. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Muslim Leaders Planning Texas Community Say They're the Target of 'Islamophobic' Attacks Controversy has been swirling for months around one of the largest mosques in Texas, the East Plano Islamic Center, and its plan to construct a large community in the Dallas area, featuring 1,000 homes as well as a mosque. The Houston Chronicle reported with palpable disgust Monday that "conservative Christian politicians" have been spreading "unfounded claims on social media" against the Center, and that Muslim leaders in the area claim that they have been "becoming increasingly targeted by Islamaphobic [sic] threats and attacks." The community might not have sparked so much opposition, however, if its leaders hadn't been so quick to resort to the left's tried-and-true tactic of claiming victim status at the sign of the slightest opposition, and if they had been a bit more honest and aboveboard about their intentions. The Chronicle sneers that those "conservative Christians politicians" have even made the wild (according to the Chronicle, that is) claim that "the project discriminated against Christians and Jews and intended to create a Muslim-only community that would impose Islamic law on residents." The Chronicle presents these charges as if they were self-evidently ridiculous, but are they, really? Take, for example, the "resident scholar" of the East Plano Islamic Center, the renowned imam Yasir Qadhi, who is a native of Houston. Back in March 2011, Qadhi penned a defense of Sharia, Islamic law, that was designed to reassure jittery non-Muslims but only ended up arousing more concern than it allayed, as it was a masterpiece of deceptive, disingenuousness, and dishonesty. 5. Justice Department Investigating D.C. Crime Stats Scandal The Justice Department is investigating whether Washington, D.C., police deliberately cooked the books to make the city's crime problem look less severe than it really is, two senior law enforcement officials told NBC News. U.S. Attorney for D.C. Jeanine Pirro is running the investigation, and unlike swamp insiders, she has no problem taking on corruption wherever it festers. Last month, the Metropolitan Police Department suspended Commander Michael Pulliam and placed him on leave after launching an internal investigation into whether he manipulated crime data. However, this new investigation will dig much deeper. [...] https://pjmedia.com/matt-margolis/2025/08/19/justice-department-investigating-dc-crime-statistics-scandal-n4942851
  6. Good grief! Let's hope that the converters had ID numbers on them. They certainly will, or should, hereafter. And at least there's one good use for the online learning that the Covid lockdowns imposed -- utilizing it in this instance.
  7. A microcosm of "majority rules" is evident in Oregon, and to a lesser extent in New York. Portland voters (very blue) dominate the rest of Oregon (redder), and New York City (very blue) dominates New York state (redder). These are examples of how doing away with the Electoral College would affect the entire U.S.
  8. This ought to be the exciting part. In addition, she might find that she's way ahead of her classmates (U.S. schools tend to be behind other countries' schools in curriculum and rigor), and this will help her get off to a fast start. Your diligent thoroughness in reporting these updates is helpful to many and interesting to all. Keep it up!

  11. Welcome to the forum! Sorry to hear of your anguish. The AP can last a long time in Middle Eastern/North African countries because of security concerns. In your case, some of the security checks might have expired while others were in process (they take differing times to be completed), and the expired ones have to be performed again. There's nothing to do but to wait. Find other ways to distract yourself and spend your time. It's hard, but you can do it. Vigorous physical exercise is helpful.
  12. Every little inroad is a gain. Read the week-over-week statistics! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ DC crime and the Trump-is-bad-but-he's-right effect There's something interesting going on in the continuing controversy over President Donald Trump's anti-crime initiative in Washington, D.C. When Trump first announced the move, saying crime in the district is "out of control," many Democrats and their media allies denounced it with the argument that crime is in fact falling in the district, perhaps even to its lowest point in 30 years. Now, after a week of heightened law enforcement and rising arrests, more and more voices are conceding that Trump is right, that crime really is a serious and ongoing problem in the district. Some of those voices are still opposed to Trump, but at least they are now admitting there is a big problem. 13. Nice description of Gov. Hair Gel. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Gavin Newsom: the chameleon who destroyed California Gavin Newsom may be saddled with an awful record. But the California governor is rapidly emerging as a leading bet – even a frontrunner in some polls – in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2028. How is this possible? The simple answer is that Newsom might be the ultimate candidate for the attention-deficient generation. He is a political chameleon who changes positions compulsively – not according to facts, but to whatever best seems to fit the national mood. We witnessed this after [...] https://www.spiked-online.com/2025/08/18/gavin-newsom-the-chameleon-who-destroyed-california/
  14. Zohran Mamdani is a political risk Democrats shouldn't take In a twist of comic irony, New York City — the embodiment of American capitalism — may soon have a democratic socialist mayor in 33 year old Zohran Mamdani. That being said, assuming Mamdani wins November's general election, the joke may be on national Democrats. Put another way, even as a mayoral candidate, by dint of New York City's status and his elevation into a national figure, Mamdani presents severe risks to the Democratic Party on the national stage. 17. That's so the U.S. can adhere to all the one-sided "save the planet" environmental treaties, whereas third-world countries can continue to pollute.
  18. For the same reason that so-called filthy Covid-19 masks weren't treated as medical waste.

  21. Portland’s Screeching 'Dog Park Karen' Has Been 'Off the Leash' Before — and No, She's Not Amy Schumer As you may have suspected after reading about Dog Park Karen—who wildly menaced a man over his "pure-bred" dogs in a Portland dog park—we learn that this isn't the first time this Amy Schumer look-alike has been let off her leash. If you haven't read about this wild incident that has gone supernova on social media, by all means read 'Karen's' Attack of Portland Dog Owner Perfectly Frames Left's Insufferable Bigotry, and you'll likely come to the same conclusion. Indeed, this incident wasn't a one-off, we find, based on reactions to this story. The screech-fest by this Portland cultist is [...] https://pjmedia.com/victoria-taft/2025/08/17/it-looks-like-portlands-dog-park-karen-has-n4942772
  22. Kurt Schlichter is on fire! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ What Is the Democrats' Endgame? Americans are more divided than we have been since the first time the Democrats started and lost a civil war, with every norm being tossed out and every legitimate exercise of lawfully attained power by us normals being shamelessly obstructed. The left rejects the idea that patriotic Americans have any moral right to participate in their own governance, to pursue their own interests, or to assert their own rights. To them, we are nothing but thralls, tax-generating slaves who must feed them, fuel them, fight for them, and obey their commands while meekly accepting their calumny. They are delusional. Things aren’t going to work out that way. But things are going to work out some way, and you have to wonder what their endgame is.
