It also sucks for those who haven't received NOA2 yet. They've now changed from processing time of 4-6 months to 6.5-8 and now it is 7.5-9.5
So who knows how many more times it'll go up

This won't be the case when you no longer have a mad man in charge that issues random bans. So you can relax.

COVID caused the initial closures but the Trump administration failed to handle the pandemic in general, and more specifically for this thread, they used it as an excuse to keep out more immigrants by refusing to process K-1 visas even while processing thousands of tourists at many embassies and consulates. Even when things were back to normal in many countries. That's a policy decision, nothing to do with COVID.

I just think it's sad that you have to file a lawsuit in order to get anything done
I might like to join one if things still don't improve by March

You get offended by people's remarks much more than I do from what I've seen and oftentimes you are just rude instead of helpful. Maybe you shouldn't post so much on here in that case or perhaps try to dial it down a bit to just helpful advice instead of getting your panties in a wad 😉

xxlian got a reaction from NatMar in K1 Visa... to file or not?
This is the primary reason that my beneficiary and I are choosing to go forward with the K-1 visa. Sure, it's great that some people are able to get married and go the spousal visa route, but this isn't the best option for some of us. Each couple should thoroughly research the whole process and do what is best for their own situation. No one owes an explanation or justification to uninvolved people about which route they choose.

xxlian got a reaction from Matrix13 in Montreal Embassy (slowly) restarting K1 Visa Processing
That's not all they did. They also added an "posts are authorized to give K visa cases high priority" statement.

xxlian reacted to DaveAndAnastasia in USCIS Averts Furlough of Nearly 70% of Workforce (merged)
Eh; it's usually the case that contractors are let go before full-time employees for private companies.
Though I had thought that the massive furlough plan ought to have been tabled once the new fee structure was approved; surely they could survive on reduced revenues for a month, and if the new fees aren't high enough to fund operations going forward, why were they set at that level?

xxlian got a reaction from Trutta in concerns about proof of income..
You will either need to meet minimum income requirements for the K-1 visa (125% of federal poverty guidelines) or have a co-sponsor who does.

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services today announced that the agency will avert an administrative furlough of more than 13,000 employees, scheduled to begin Aug. 30 as a result of unprecedented spending cuts and a steady increase in daily incoming revenue and receipts.

We got our NOA2 after 190 days. Unfortunately I think they're just processing things much slower. Hang in there though, you will be next!

xxlian got a reaction from millefleur in USCIS pushes back 13,000 furloughs until the end of August
It's very frustrating, but it's not really an "empty gesture" any more than the bill that they passed just before this one to prevent cutbacks at USPS. It's just the very first step in getting the bill passed. The Senate will be back in two weeks, and it's likely that the bill will be passed then. Having the House finally pass this bill should encourage USCIS leaders to stop the furloughs, but we'll see...
