*** Thread moved from Progress Reports to Process & Procedures *** Did your fiancé live in Germany when you sent the petition? NVC automatically sends the petition to the country where beneficiary states they currently live in. They do not look at the field where you put the consulate you want to interview at. This has been known for many years now if you search the forum. If she didn’t live in Germany, then this was an error on NVC’s part but that’s more rare than the scenario above. It is on the petitioner and the applicant to reach out to NVC after 3-4 weeks of USCIS approval so find out the case number to track the progress. This is also written in the guides and next steps here. Now that the petition already left NVC and is now in Frankfurt, you need to contact the consulate in Lagos and ask them to request the file from Germany. Note that this will take several months to resolve, my guess would be a three month delay.

Lost Passport for Beneficiary? (K1)
powerpuff replied to RedHeadedGringo's topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures
Just get a new passport. There is no need at all to report it to US government or immigration. People lose/have them stolen/renew passports all the time so this isn’t an extraordinary case. I thought you were going to say that it was stolen with a K1 visa printed post interview in there but really, you should just get a new passport. -
This is correct. I wouldn’t fill anything out as simply there is no point to. Islamabad consulate is extremely backlogged.

Bringing sibling to America
powerpuff replied to Cal&So's topic in Bringing Family Members of US Citizens to America
I’m so sorry for your loss. Are you a US citizen? If so, you can petition him as a sibling but it will take 20+ years even if he/she is a minor -
DCF Request Tokyo -- Job Offer in USA
powerpuff replied to Tymotal's topic in Direct Consular Filing (DCF) General Discussion
Verbal approvals are not reliable. A true approval is when CEAC status changes to Issued. They still need to review documents, do background checks, etc. -
Interview: binders, yay or nay?

Instead of a binder I would recommend an accordion file, it has many pockets and tabs for labeling. -
RFE i-864
powerpuff replied to Caitlyn03's topic in Adjustment of Status (Green Card) from K1 and K3 Family Based Visas
All of those could be the factors, USCIS always keeps I-864 RFEs super vague. the letter should show the annual salary. When we sent ours a few years ago my husband was hourly and we calculated that into annual and HR signed. If it doesn’t cut close to the deadline, I would probably wait until 6 months of paystubs since that’s also in the instructions and the reviewing officer might be stickler for rules. As for the prior business, personally I wouldn’t include that as to not muddy the waters and just focus on the supporting evidence of the income. good luck and keep us posted! -
RFE i-864
powerpuff replied to Caitlyn03's topic in Adjustment of Status (Green Card) from K1 and K3 Family Based Visas
That could be why, the instructions (p. 8 )state that they want to see the annual salary. “For example, you may include a recent letter from your employer, showing your employer's address and telephone number, and indicating your annual salary.” https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/document/forms/i-864instr.pdf As I see it, you have two options. Option 1 is send an updated employment letter with an annual salary and add more paystubs, you (joint sponsor that is) should have 5 months worth of them by now. If USCIS isn’t satisfied with your RFE response, they will deny the case. The second option is to find a better joint sponsor but I also understand they don’t grow on trees and you might not have someone available. But it is a safer bet which is why it was suggested. So you must decide which option you’d like to go with. -

Bank account question
powerpuff replied to Lesleylou81's topic in Moving to the US and Your New Life In America
Big banks like Chase won’t open a checking account if you can’t furnish proof of US address in the form of utility bills, etc. I would try small banks and see if they can be more flexible. But generally, proof of US address is the biggest hurdle I see here. Even newly arrived K1s with pending AOS have trouble opening a bank account. I was given such a run around being added to my husband’s checking/savings with Citi bank when I came as a K1, we almost switched to a different bank. I think you’ll have an easier time with a credit card though, especially being added an authorized user. Credit scores are looked at when purchasing a home so you’ll have something by that point.
