  1. Yes, NVC process too. I think that’s usually 3-4 months if your documents are all accepted on the first try. The rest of the timeline is all dependent on the consulate as some are more busy/slow than others.
  2. The review and approval itself takes maybe 30 minutes tops. However the backlog is too great. The average processing time for I-130 is 12-14 months.
  3. I don’t see another option. You want the regular I-601 timeline
  4. Sounds to me like the expedite was denied.

  6. Exactly. Any hint of AWA during K1 has a very high chance of the case being transferred to Vermont service center where it will enter a black hole of indefinite waiting. This makes the CR1 wait seem like nothing.
  7. Proof of visits is the best proof of bona fide marriage. They probably want to see that you saw each other since submitting the petition which was over a year ago.
  8. The section on I-94 says that you only fill it up if the beneficiary is currently in the US. She’s not so those fields are not applicable to you.
  9. No, you do not need to inform USCIS and even if you did, they will not change the consulate. They automatically assign it to the current residence country no matter what you put in the consulate section or no matter what you request after submitting the petition. The only way to change the location is at NVC.

  12. Yes just follow all the instructions and keep us updated.
  13. This is for a K1 fiancé visa. @Tomyy is going through spousal visa form what I understand which is completely different. Read through here, it tells you everything step by step: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/step-1-submit-a-petition/step-2-begin-nvc-processing.html
  14. It would be sister I personally never used money orders, I always used personal checks as I wanted to make sure they do not reject the package for any reason. But through the years of reading here, I’ve read success stories of multiple money orders so you might be okay. So in your case, it would be one money order of $500, one money order of $500, one money order of $440 and another money order for $260. Just make sure the amounts are exact and I would definitely do the $260 separately as USCIS has a new rule that you can’t combine everything into one amount for separate forms.

  17. The I-765 fee is wrong, it’s $260.
  18. *** Thread moved from K1 forum to AOS K1 as this is now an AOS case *** USCIS increased fees starting April 1, 2024. This was announced back in January. Starting April 1, I-765 and I-131 are no longer free when filed with I-485. The rejection is correct in this case. Here’s a discussion about it on VJ:

  20. There’s a program called MAVNI that allows that. An acquaintance of mine from college (international student) was looking into it but ultimately decided not to apply: ”The MAVNI program, authorized by the Department of Defense in 2008, allowed certain individuals who were not U.S. citizens, nationals, or lawful permanent residents to enlist if they had skills considered vital to the national interest” https://www.uscis.gov/military/military-naturalization-statistics#:~:text=The MAVNI program%2C authorized by,vital to the national interest. This is from 2015 so eligibility criteria change every time i believe depending on what the military needs: https://dod.defense.gov/news/mavni-fact-sheet.pdf
