Do the CR1 Visa. Year plus wait times for a green card and living in one of the top 3 highest cost of living cities in America...we are struggling to live off of one income and our mental health is suffering. Who even knows if they are processing EAD's anymore, we are not expecting to get one.

As a K-1 couple, I agree with Jeanne. Overall the CR-1 is a better visa. Right now the CR-1 in Casablanca is taking the same time (if not faster) than the K-1. Plus you get the added benefit of being able to work and travel right away with a green card on arrival. 
 
A K-1 is a good option for couples who previously have spent a lot of time together, have limited red flags, but can’t take a lot of time off work to go to Morocco and get married (it can take 2-3 weeks).

Additional update: some people with NOA2’s from April-November have been sent from the NVC to the consulate. My NOA2 is 11/13 and I’m expecting an interview within the next couple months. 

Hello! Yes Casa is scheduling K-1 Interviews. I spoke with the consulate today and they informed me that they have requested new cases from the NVC. A women on the Moroccan Visa Journey fb group confirmed this and showed that her case at the NVC has been sent to Casa as of today. Her NOA1 was December 2019 and her NOA2 was the end of March 2020. The consulate backlog has been cleared and they now are working on the NVC backlog. 

Starting to get really discouraged. It seems like the NVC will never send new cases to the consulate. They haven’t since the pandemic shut down back in March.

Happy to report an update: our petition is on its way to Sydney! We were notified by email and after checking the CEAC site, our case status has been updated to "In transit" 

Most people with NOA2’s from April/May 2020 applied in December/Jan of this past year. 
 
My NOA1 is only three months after these people, but due to slow USCIS processing this past year, my NOA2 was November. 
 
Morocco’s consulate has resumed K1 interviews and they are currently wrapping up Feb/March NOA2’s. Of course I might be wrong.. but given the fact my NOA1 wasn’t that long after the next batch of April/May people who will be getting interviews, I’m assuming I’m not looking at that extensive of a backlog as I previously anticipated even though my NOA2 wasn’t until November. 
 
I hope this makes sense and brings some optimism. Thoughts? 

Alright, we have an update. I was nervous to share anything because we weren't entirely sure what was going on between the NVC and embassy.
 
After many e-mails between myself, the NVC, and our embassy... our case is at our embassy and we just received our P3 (just an e-mail with the documents needed and the okay for my fiance to get his medical done).
 
I did request an expedite from the NVC regarding my personal situation at home here in the US. The NVC initially said that that they could not forward our case to our embassy as it was not processing routine visa services. I had already been speaking with the embassy and they knew of my situation and stated that I could request an expedite, so it was a little bit of a shock when the NVC flat out refused to send the request for review. When I contacted the embassy regarding the notification from the NVC, they stated that they would look into it and contact the NVC and be in touch with us shortly. Our case was 'In Transit' 2 business days later, and 'Ready' the following day after that. I am going to assume that our case is being treated as an expedite, though we have not been told that directly. We had not heard from the embassy since it was 'Ready' about a week ago, so I messaged them yesterday and they sent my fiance the P3 instructions and okay to do his medical. There is a little light at the end of the tunnel! 💗

For future reference I think this is a good learning opportunity for everyone. Pandemic or not, I think trying to find a DIRECT flight to America is the best course of action. Eliminating extra bureaucracy and border officers is worth the additional money IMO. It isn't worth your partner getting stuck in a foreign country to save a few hundred dollars. Just get them on U.S soil as quickly as possible.

Have him take a flight back to Morocco and rebook him on a DIRECT flight with Royal Air Maroc to either JFK or Washington D.C in two weeks. Don't panic, it is going to be okay.
