I'm not sure if someone else responded to you, but you DO NOT need your SSN for your AOS. When you file the I-765, there is now option to have them assign you an SSN card (Part 2, #14 and #15 mark 'Yes'), so you can do it all at once. Given the circumstances of nothing being open, I think this is the best option. As a Canadian, if you need a US Bank account, try RBC Georgia. You just call in to have them to open an account. I'm not sure what else you'll need an SSN for before you get that employment authorization.

Meanwhile, let's hope Trump's tweet was just a bunch of BS and immigration isn't shutting down before we get our stuff approved!

While I am able to get on my husband's health insurance, up until that happened (about a two month process) I was able to qualify for travel insurance from my country (Canada). I explained my situation to the rep on the phone and he said as long as I hadn't reported to the Canadian Govn't that I moved and cancelled my health insurance there, I would be covered. It only cost about $80 CAD a month. Perhaps there is an insurance from your home country you can use that would be the same for now? Maybe it doesn't apply. Just a thought. I'm more thinking about you actually getting stuck with $100k bill then what the I944 requires.

I wouldn't postpone applying for AOS. His draft says it does not include spouse of US citizen or PRs. So if you are already here and got married it shouldn't effect you. But the draft is not final and it is not yet signed as of today. So I would recommend submitting for AOS, so you can be in pending status waiting for GC. Also once you get married K1 is obsolete. So you don't need to worry about I 94. I would just focus on AOS. I just filed mine and got NOA1 text. Good luck to everyone who is applying.

you can call one of the credit companies here and ask, you might, but all we did was sent a letter explaining why we dont have a Credit report yet due to no SSN and plan on building positive credit as soon as we get one. we also sent a screen shot of the error screen when you try to get a report without a ssn

From what I know, he's suspending green cards for 60 days, and given that our process is months long, by the time we are eligible this should be over with. I'm confident we can submit our AOS, perhaps with just a bunch of delays, unfortunately. (That said, I am keeping my fingers crossed, because who knows.)
My end date is June 2nd, so same boat.

Thank you for this! So problem is we are waiting for a statement from PG&E as proof of identity (as i dont have a SSN), to add my name onto our checking account. However think this is going to take ages. So might just have to leave it out. In terms of my equivalency report, I rang them and they said its not going to be ready until Friday - so I will only have an email from them as proof im getting one done.

I feel with all this new Trump stuff going on as well.... shall I just file it today? then at least i should get my NOA1 around the time my ESTA runs out?

    Thank you!!

In Colorado you can marry yourselves---no ceremony or celebrant necessary. You can fill the application out online, and then show up at a county clerk's office to have them print it ($30). You sign it, they file it, you're married. The clerk's offices are closed, but you can email them and they can make arrangements.

You don't have to be from CO to make it happen. Looks like you're in NY... that's too far away to get here, but perhaps look into states surrounding you and what their marriage regulations are. There might be one similar that you can drive to. Or just email your clerk's office (soo many people working from home or in office but closed to public) and see if they can make it work. Then just have a friend sign up online to marry you and get 'er done.

I also arrived on March 5th and we literally got our license at the clerk's office the day before they closed to the public. We still haven't signed it (have a special day planned in a week), but all we need to do now is sign it and mail it in, so fairly simple.

I'm not sure if that information is helpful, but hopefully things open up in the next couple months so you can do it in a less convoluted way! Congrats and good luck!

It's on your NOA2. Its hard to spot it cuz it's small. It's in the "beneficiary" box. Look at the beneficiary's printed name and you should see the alien number on top of it.

Literally, as soon as it's in my hand. I had to book my flight for Thursday because of an emergency medical situation with my fiance. I guess if it doesn't show I'll have to re-book it, but fingers crossed that's not the case! Purolator does say it will be here Wednesday.
