  1. Good day VJ!

Just curious if it's possible to make a visa interview appointment for my K2 children as group/group scheduling to save one slot of interview date. My mistake that i used my old account and enter my eldest son's information and now i can't add his siblings for them to have one confirmation for their interview. The earliest date has 1 slot left and there 3 K2's. Just wondering. Thank you!

  2. Good day VJ!

So, I've been waiting for the US Embassy in PH to open an interview slot in November for my K2FTJ children however they never open the Nov 17 and 24th slots but they immediately open the December 1st, 15 and 22 slots and jump to January. I'm confused, we wanted the 17th or the 24th so we can bring them before Christmas and spend few days with family before leaving. I've been sending inquiries, emails and calling the Embassy in PH to ask what is happening. I got a response that beside the annual date to admit the K2 they extend another 180 days for those K2 who got delayed by the pandemic. My question is as Iam typing my confusion they never open the November, and I don't know if someone could answer me WHY? Do you think it will be available soon? My husband won't be able to book plane tickets if there's no interview date. We chose the November 17th since their medical exam is on the 13th and we just want them to be here in the US to spend Christmas together as a family.

*I apologize if I posted this at the wrong topic.

    Thank you.

    They approved your AP expedite!
Self corrected as I just noted the Consulate has not responded to expedite for childrens interview yet.,but stay on it, they will.

I emailed the consulate and ask if they could provide anything we sent these proof also in the congressmans office in behalf for us, my children's name and case number and theyre expecting my children for their interview, paid visa fee, screenshot of their status. Im about to schedule their interview tonight for Nov yet it was approved.

With that background information on your mother’s health, they will approve the expedite.
In case it, gets denied do an appeal of the denial ( it’s free and done through email).

Also call/ email/  Google your congressman and download case authorization, ask for their help BOTH with an expedite for your AP and with Embassy to expedite appointment for children.

Make sure to email the embassy .

You can make it happen. Don’t give up .

Thank you and God bless you❤️

Right, but we've not seen an AP expedite be granted for that reason.   Is there a reason you did not bring them with you?

There is no special evidence or supporting documentation needed when initially applying for AP with an underlying I485.

We started our K1 before covid, everything in PH for the past 2 yrs has been difficult for us to travel without problems since every region has their own policy and hard to reach them since there are no contacts, I could ask for somebody who could help me especially but my Mom has cancer and my dad has to be with her and both of them are in their 60s and risky. Doing all these things with 3 children aged 9,6 and 5 is alot though my now husband wanted my children to come with me one way my parents asked if they could stay since we can FTJ them. My husband is unaware if the embassy knows or not, besides im only asking if someone in here has the experience since the lady  i talked to was very kind to fill things and asked further about the situation, yes there is no guarante and i apologize of not knowing, i will share my experience and what could be the verdict within 7 days from them (uscis). I went first so i could adjust to the new sorroundings since i will be spending more time as a housewife with kids if my husband is not around and 3 children is a lot to handle and my parents, especially my mom is okay after operation and manage to take good care of my children but travelling still a limit.

Approve or not, im sure we can find a way to bring them here. I appreciate all your answers.

It could go either way, depends on the reviewing officer. One could argue that the K2 follow up was a choice by K1 holder and was foreseen well ahead of the k1 interview and so not eligible for the expedite. The other could argue that since k2 has to immigrate within 12 months of K1 visa date so could be eligible depending on how long it's been.

Did you provide anything? Unless uscis sees an interview appointment for K2, it may not see a reason to expedite even if it wants to.

In my uscis account there are documents uploaded for my AP and the lady on the phone when she checked it said that they will email me for more proof or usually no more proofs needed if something was uploaded in my acc.

    who should have known?

embassy is only in charge of interviews and visa approval

they have no way to know when you marry and when u apply for the remainder of the entire process

they are not privy to information past what is  provided to them

and they are not in charge of the AOS step nor have influence over what happens after they issue the visa

Yes i know, thats why i paused my husband and said its a different process getting an AP and AOS and getting a visa.

    Thanks.

Hello, when I filed my AP my husband and I we provide documents needed and a letter telling why our case is unique and explained why we need an AP. The lady on the line gave me a service referal number and wait 7 business days for an email if they might ask for another proof or no more proof.

  9. Good day everyone!

I called the USCIS and requested to expedite my AP (K2 FTJ) we are expecting to bring my children later this year. We don't have plans yet and can't make one without AP.

The USCIS asked me what my reason and purpose are to expedite and obviously to travel back and forth for their medical exam, visa interview and bring them to the US and she responded like she didn't know it's possible to expedite my AP in such circumstances. Anyway, I was on hold for 55mins or over an hour just to talk to someone and I'm glad I did, that why I'm anxious and couldn't make a proper question. So, I have to wait 7 days for their (USCIS) response I hope it goes well. I'm curious how many here in VJ expedite their AP to travel back to their home country and bring their children in the US, my husband was frustrated and said, "they should have known that you need to bring your children later this year cos the consul asked you that during your visa interview". My parents couldn't handle the travelling for my children's processing due to their old age and the risk of covid too.

    Thanks.

@BOKURAGAITA I looked at your timeline again and saw there's no info in the I-131 section (for AP / Advanced Parole). Did you send a I-131 form and supporting docs in your AOS packet? If yes, and if you indicated your maiden name there, I'm afraid it's too late. Your AP card will arrive with your maiden name.

However, as mentioned, you have a chance to fix it at the I-485 (AOS) interview. Once you have your GC in your married name, you no longer need the AP.

It isn't wise to book travel back to the Philippines until you have the actual card in your hands and have checked it for any mistakes. Both AP and GC are taking many months to obtain.

We didn't book plane tickets yet but an estimation for us to come back since my K1 visa was issued on Dec2021 i need to bring my kids before 1 year my visa issued. Thank you @Timona and @Adventine and i will update soon.

I think we can simplify this with one question.

@BOKURAGAITA , what name did you put in I-485, page 1, part 1? Screenshot below:

    image.png.34bf90c8c19f30be8ea6395e3a6458cf.png

If it was your maiden name, and you submitted a copy of your previous passport which was also in your maiden name, then your GC and AP will arrive in your maiden name.

Now, if you don't want this to happen, and instead you want the GC in your married name, you still have a chance. I see from your timeline that you have not yet had the I-485 interview. You have a chance to bring an updated I-485 form and your new passport to your interview, and request that the GC be produced with your married name on it.

Thank you very much @Adventine, I don't know exactly if it's possible or too late for me to change in last minute and yes, I don't have my I-1485 interview yet and for sure I will take note and bring an updated I-1485 in the future however if my AP release first? Is there anything I can do to let the USCIS know and change it into my married name? We are expecting to leave the country (my husband and I) for my K2s medical and interview in the Philippines.

  12. 19 minutes ago, Timona said:

Your answers for 1 and 2 contradict each other. 2 is only possible if 1 was a Yes.

On 3, If you indeed have a new name, that is, picked up your husband's  last name, then you should have filed your AOS with your new name. There are boxes on AOS that let's you put previous name.

    Who prepared your AOS

    @Adventine @Rocio0010

My husband and I prepared my AOS.

  13. 4 hours ago, Timona said:

I don't understand you. So, we will go step by stsep.

    1. Did you pick up husband's last name? Yes or No

    2. Does your marriage certificate have a new name? Yes or No

    3. Did you file AOS with new name? Yes or No

    1. after marriage NO

    2. Yes

    3. No, I file under maiden name (my PP has not been change yet when i filed)

  14. 2 hours ago, Timona said:

Now, did you change your name after marriage? If so, did you file AOS with your new last name? If, yes, don't worry. Your AP, EAD and GC will all have the new name

If you are interested in changing your name on the PH PP, you should have figured out how to do it while it's being renewed. Probably your MC + old PP would have got it done.

    Hi!

We didn't immediately change my name after marriage, we got married Feb 2022, file my AOS Mar 2022 and today July 25th i renewed my PP to change my last name. I'm wondering what would gonna happen if ever my AP come soon and my PP # is not the same anymore.

I don't know if its possible to email them (USCIS)

  15. Hello VJ!

  16. Hello guys,

    Thank you

    Hi,

I believe you are misinformed about the two weeks.

One of the rights of the K-1 Visa is that it makes you elegible to apply for a SSN.

I believe what has you confused is that people suggest waiting two weeks from the moment you arrive to the US and submitting your application for your SSN: this waiting time is to make sure your I94 (arrival/departure document, they make it at your port of entrance) is uploaded to the central database, which the SSA, the organization that issues the SSN, accesses in order to verify your information.

This means that as long as you entered legally to the US and your I94 is unexpired, you are able to apply and get a Social Security Number.

HOWEVER, since you have already submitted your I-495 AND checked the box that you want to be issued the number, then you just have to wait until your Adjustment of Status is done, which could take a while, as you don't want there to be a duplicate-request issue later one.

By the way, this is what I did: I arrived on the 15th of August, got married on the 19th, and directly applied for my SSN on the 30 of that month. It worked out fine and now I have my number, AoS still pending.

But don't dispair... there are many banks that allow you to get basic bank accounts without a SSN. If this doesn't work out, you can always request an ITIN from the IRS. You can go ahead and google it. This number should work in lieu of the SSN.

    Best of luck to you!

I arrived on Jan 10, 2022 and my I-94 will expire  Apr 9, i guess i have to wait til i get my GC. Im hoping no long delays for us tho im not rushing, im surprise we mailed my AoS i got my NOA1 on the mail after 4 days and my biometrics will be in the 20th this month, kinda fast in MI. Thanks anyway, Godbless

  18. Hi VJ,

So im confused and worried about this. My SSN.

Unfortunately, i didn't know that i need to apply my SSN 2 weeks after arriving in the US, however when we fill up the form for my AOS there is a question if i want the USCIS to issue my SSN (i could be wrong the wordings) and i marked YES and 2 weeks and my husband and i was alarmed when he (husband) tried to make me a bank acc

and it need my SSN to go through.

I have a question and im open for lectures, pls.

I marked yes in my AOS about the SSN, are they gonna issue me my SSN? or I need to apply?

*I read here that I only need SSN if i work, we file my AOS,AP and Aff of Stat only since ill be staying at home til i get my kids here from PH but I need SSN for bank acc, should i wait for greencard instead?

Honestly i dont know if i post this in the right page, but any advice will help. Thankyou, Godbless

Yes, "Ready" status for your K2 children.  Same process as your K1 -- fill out DS-160, pay MRV fee, book interview schedule online, book appointment for medical.  Each K2 must have their own DS-160 and MRV fee payment.  You may book just 1 visa interview schedule for all K2, but all their names must be on the appointment confirmation.

Thank you soo much. Godbless you.
