  1. Hi all, we are trying to send out our AOS paperwork in the next few days as well but I find this i-944 form very confusing and scary. I wasn't able to get on my husband's insurance plan on time as he got laid of due to COVID the day after we got married so I am hoping to get some kind of individual insurance tomorrow so we can complete the form.

I was wondering if some of you used foreign currency checking accounts in the Assets & Resources section? Can I include the balance on my foreign checking account (I still haven't opened an American account) and do I convert the GBP amount to USD using the statement date's exchange rate for Amount (U.S. dollars).

  2. Hi All, we got married 2 weeks ago and my husband got laid off the day after our wedding due to COVID-19. We are still working on the AOS paperwork but I'm so overwhelmed and confused so I was hoping if someone could help me with some questions:

    1) I-944 Health Insurance questions - as my husband is not unemployed and doesn't have insurance from work anymore, do I need to purchase a private insurance just for myself before filing AOS? Also, can i get a plan that is subsided by Obamacare (We were looking  into Covered California)?

    2)  I-944 Assets & Resources section - Can I include the balance on my foreign checking account (I still haven't opened an American account) and do I convert the GBP amount to USD using the statement date's exchange rate for Amount (U.S. dollars).

    3)  I-864, Affidavit of Support - as my fiance is now laid off I am assuming we need to submit two i-864 forms, correct? - we are thinking of asking my husband's father to be a co-sponsor or wait until he gets a new job.

Thank you very much in advance!!!

  3. Hi all, just an update: we drove to Phoenix, AZ over the weekend as they issue marriage licenses if you schedule an appointment online and we found a friend of a friend that married us on the same day there. We submitted the marriage record on that day too so they said we should expect the marriage certificate to arrive in about 3 weeks in the mail. Thanks you all for your help and support.

We are in the exact same situation, and also based on Orange County. I spent hours calling numerous county clerk recorder's offices this morning, and was repeatedly told they are NOT issuing marriage licenses. I desperately called Orange, Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, San Diego, Ventura, Riverside, San Bernardino, Imperial, San Luis Obispo counties' offices and countless others, and they are all pretty much unable to help. As a previous poster mentioned, Clark County/Las Vegas is also closed down.

    nt

I also called USCIS customer service and not only did the representative not offer any assistance, but very rudely and impatiently told me "what do you expect us to do" and indicated that it was our problem. When I patiently explained that it was near-impossible to get married at the current moment, and that I was seeking USCIS advice/guidance, I was told they could offer no advice. As we do not expect the situation to improve any time soon and the USCIS seems to be throwing us under the bus, we may have to resort to extreme measures and travel vast distances to find a county that will issue a marriage license -- even as far as Alaska.

Yes, I have also been trying to find open county clerks even further away but couldn't find anything yet :( When do your 90 days expire? Also, please keep me updated if you find a county clerk somewhere!!! I hope everything goes back to normal soon!!

  5. Hi all, not sure if I am posting in the correct place but I just arrived in the US on Sunday with a K1 visa and me and my fiance were planning on getting our marriage license this week and have a courthouse wedding on the weekend but due to the Corona Virus Scare none of the Southern California/Vegas counties issue them until further notice. I am really worried as I my 90 days started ticking and I hoped to get this done ASAP after my arrival. I was wondering if someone else is in the same situation or have any advice on what we can do?

Thank you very much in advance.

Hi, i have been lurking and reading stuff about the K1-visa and I think I might have used an incorrect case number. I think i mixed it up with the USCIS receipt number and the case number. I used the receipt number instead. I'm kind of nervous right now because it has been 3 weeks since i file the DS-160 and up until now it says 'no status' is that normal?

Hey, I've also needed to change some things on the DS-160 few days prior to the interview and just went to retrieve my original (wrong) DS160 application and then you can click on start new so all your answers are still saved and you can adjust just the ones you put wrong. I brought the new DS160 confirmation page to the interview and had absolutely no problems. I hope this helps and good luck.

  8. Hey, from what I remember when going through the F1 visa process in 2012 they asked me basic questions like: Who will pay for the school, would they cover living expenses, etc. , why do you want to study there and especially the chosen school, what are you going to study and why? I needed to show proof of my scholarship and what it covers :)
I don't remember if they asked more questions but it seemed pretty straight forward.

I also don't think traveling experience should affect anything.

I hope this helps and good luck.

My fiance and I got our visa approved today. Is there a new thread for approvals or is everything still on this forum? THANK YOU to everyone who answered any of my questions regarding the interview process and documentation!!

Congratss!! I am so happy for you!! How was the interview? Mine is next week and would love to hear a little bit about how it goes :)

  10. I just realized I made a mistake by only providing my Facebook and Instagram accounts for the social media question on the DS-160 form as I didn't realize I can add more. I have already booked my K1 interview on the 14th of Feb. Is there a way I can add these now or is it possible to cancel that one and submit another DS-160? Any advice will help.

    Thank you.

They asked my fiancée for my tax returns and that’s it with the I-134. As far as questions it was basic, how did you meet, when did you meet, what do you both do for a living.

Hey sorry to intrude in the thread but I am also confused about what my fiancé needs to send me for my London interview. Did you send the original I-134 and original I-129f to London? Or is it ok if it’s all scanned and printed ? Not even sure if I need  anything from from I-129f? Thanks so much!

  12. Hi, we also got our NVC # yesterday, so starting to collect documents for the next stage.

I was wondering what documents do I need to translate to English as I am a Bulgarian citizen living in London. I have my birth certificate, vaccinations and Bulgarian police clearance in Bulgarian at the moment. Do i need to get official translation of all of them? Do I also need to get a medical history documents from my GP in the UK and Bulgaria?

    Thank you:)

Does a thread exist for approved NOA 2 nov approvals to k-1 vis application part now?

If you scroll a little in this thread you can see a few people already asked the same question in the past few days. @Greenbaum provided the link a few times:

The wonderful thing about VJ is that most questions have already been asked and answered. If you want the answer you have to do a little work. Just turn the page back and there is a post that answers that same question from someone else. It's amazing that within 24 hours the same question is asked and answered. I feel the need to help you out and give you the link to that post, so here you go.  :)

    Hello everyone,
I am in the process for a K1 visa, I have my medical in London in 2 weeks. I have a few doubts that are stressing me out.

    1. I am from Italy and have lived in the UK for almost 3 years now. I have all the documents necessary for my medical. I recently got from my GP the patient care summary too but I was wondering whether I need my medical records from Italy too, it's not specified anywhere! (It is specified instead for criminal records).

Question 1 on their questionnaire (https://uk.usembassy.gov/wp-content/uploads/sites/16/2017/05/USA-MEDICAL-QUESTIONNAIRE_IV.pdf) asks if you've ever been hospitalised and I had to put YES: I got into a car accident in Italy (been in hospital under observation only), had a head trauma with temporary amnesia in Italy and a kidney infection in the UK (due to episode of kidney stones). I explained all these 3 in an attachment to the questionnaire. Do I need to find and take with me all the translated documentation from Italy? (it would be a problem to get them in time..)

    2. In case I find out only when I'm at the medical that they also need info from my Italian records can they simply access them themselves or I have to provide them (translated) afterwards and therefore causing delays in my visa process?

    3. I put NO on the question that asks "Have you ever had any kidney or liver disease" as it was only a single episode, nothing chronic. Is that correct?

    Thanks!! :)

Hi Gabriele, sorry for replying so late but I am in a similar situation now and was wondering what did you end up doing with your medical records from Italy? I am planning on translating all my vaccine records but also had a kidney stone when I was 8 years old (my only time in hospital)  so I am unsure what to do. Hope everything went smooth with your application and thank you in advance 😊
