Undecided got a reaction from ~Alessa~ in N-400 Interview cancelled by USCIS, should I still go?
Personally, if the posts you have read are pre covid I would discount them.
It just seems silly to me to turn up when you know the appointment has been cancelled.
Maybe they will see you ( I think we all recognize and I’m sure uscis employees know - sometimes there are glitches) but I think it’s fairly likely you will be turned away.
I’m pretty follow the rules though. This sounds like trying to game the system. Maybe you will be successful, and to be honest, I doubt you will get any kind of mark against you if you turn up. But it’s basically deceitful. You know you don’t have an appointment and you are choosing to turn up anyway. And it’s possible that your actions will impact (as in delay because of a lot of admin flurry) other applicants who have valid appointments.
Your call of course.

Although I haven’t physically got the letter yet, my oath ceremony notification turned up online. August 17th.

Undecided got a reaction from JohnSmith1234 in Proof of Divorce for N-400
Original would work as well. I scanned my originals and attached them to my online application, then took the originals with me to my interview (which I wasn’t asked for).
The point I was trying to make, but not very clearly, is that a simple photocopy isn’t adequate if they do ask to see it at interview. It needs to be sufficiently official that you could use it to obtain a marriage license. If your state uses raised or embossed seals for example, you need the one with the raised or embossed seal.
In fact, I think I misspoke - a certified copy may or may not be accepted. An original one would be.

Just got my oath ceremony scheduled, it's on August 20th. Almost there!

If the descheduling letter is dated after the appointment one, then you don’t go. I suspect that the appointment was scheduled in error since it was cancelled the next day.
I really do not understand why you think it’s a good idea to show up. There is no “just in case” here - it’s clearly been cancelled.

Undecided reacted to ch3john in Required evidence during filing vs. at interview
It's best to submit as much evidence as you can with your application. That was they can review before you interview and make a decision faster. The application itself tells you what is required and what evidence to submit.
Good luck!

True LOL.
@Deagle or @Rick & Apple could you add my oath date of August 17 2020 to the spread sheet when you’ve got a moment? Thank you.

My status has now changed to “oath ceremony notice was mailed”. Unfortunately the document is not yet showing in the document tab, but I’m guessing that will happen in the next couple of days.

Undecided got a reaction from millefleur in Different last name on the SSN card and GC versus DL - which one is "legal"?
If the IO decides that there isn’t sufficient information to authenticate the name change (and its sounds as if there would be anyway) you would be told at interview and given the option to change your name to whatever you want it to be. Because my middle name wasn’t on my birth certificate I would have to change it to keep it. I’ve decided not to. That does mean I will have to change everything, but oh well, So I wouldn’t worry about it too much.

I provided just the certified copy of the divorce decree for both mine and my now husbands prior marriages. So one from the USA and one from the UK. No one asked me for anything else and while I took them for my n400 interview, I wasn’t asked to show them.

Because we are in the middle of a pandemic? Because you can’t have 50 people at a time Oath ceremonies? Because in some states the courts are still closed?

A lot of lives have been lost considering"100%" survival rate. I think they are being as cautious as possible, however I do agree that I wish they implemented a better procedure to not create a backlog. Nothing normal this year with COVID and potential furloughs that till now is pushed back.

Undecided got a reaction from GreenGem in US Citizenship thru Father (Deceased) What to do?
Her cheapest option will be to apply for a passport. The issue is - will she have enough documentation? You might be able to obtain a copy of the naturalization certificate here https://www.uscis.gov/g-1041a Alternatively there may be a public record of the naturalization in the national archives.
Although it’s possible that the copy that you have is sufficient. I’d check out the passport application and see what she needs to apply and then work out if you have what is necessary.
Best of luck.

Undecided got a reaction from fuzzybunny123 in N400 Estimated Waiting Time/Completion Time
Mine disappeared at the same time and has never come back, at least not when I’ve looked. I’ve now had my interview and passed but still no wait time. Mine originally said July 2020. Since my original interview was supposed to be in April but in fact took place in July, I’ve mentally added at least 3 months to that July date. And I’ll be stunned if it’s as short as that.
Edit: although if your in one of the locations that does the interview on and the oath ceremony on the same day, you might be faster. Some offices are simply faster.

I can’t swear to the consistency, but yes, my notice of both my biometrics appointment and my interview appointment(s) did appear on that tab before I got the letters.
