I don't know if you quoted the wrong part, but how is that different from what I said?

For all payments, SSN is required.  So you would need to be resident alien with a SSN.  If you have information contradicting this, please share the source.

Not true.  The stimulus check is a tax credit, something that eligible taxpayers are entitled to.  It is not a publicly-funded benefit like food stamps that casts doubt on someone's financial capacity.  Stop with the fearmongering.

taking stimulus can bite them back if USCIS questions the need for financial stimulus  if they are financially self sufficient and possibly disqualify them for green card

Not accurate.  Non-citizens/non-PRs (such as EAD holders pending AOS) who had SSN and filed taxes were eligible even for the previous round of stimulus checks.

You are ineligible for stimulus as you are not a green card holder or citizen

Trump, is extending the REAL ID enforcement deadline beyond the current October 1, 2020 deadline. I have determined that states require a twelve-month delay and that the new deadline for REAL ID enforcement is October 1, 2021."

I just went through this with my wife in VA and finally after talking to so many DMV workers (over the span of 3 appointments) we decided to skip the real id and just go for the standard license/Learners.
They will send all your paperwork to Richmond to verify (takes anywhere from 15 minutes to a week I am told ours took 5 minutes the first time and an hour the second). I think they used her receipt of filling the i485, Social Security card, Passport and a medical bill.
My wife would travel anywhere inside the USA with a passport anyway so no point in dealing with jumping through the Real ID stuff which was causing the staff huge problems giving her the real id but no issue with a standard one.
That said it does have a one year expiration but hopefully she will have her GC by then anyway.

I think in this case it says I-797 when it really should say I-797C. If you look at REAL ID Act of 2005, section 202(c)(2)(B)(ix) it reads:
    (B) EVIDENCE OF LAWFUL STATUS- A State shall require, before issuing a driver's license or identification card to a person, valid documentary evidence that the person--
(ix) has a pending application for adjustment of status to that of an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence in the United States or conditional permanent resident status in the United States.

I honestly think @Raluca&Will should go back there with EAD and I-485 receipt in hand if they give them issues again demand a manager and whip out the relevant law. I know of DACAers who had similar issues and had to show a C33 EAD and I-821D approval notice.

It all depends on where you live, but I believe all states accept EAD. Check the DMV website and print out the page that says they accept it. It's possible that your SAVE database wasn't updated yet, and that's why they denied it.

you think before Trump this was fast?
got our visa in 2015 a year before Trump

(and i am not a fan of his either) but Nebraska had our CR1 10 months and then transfered it to Missouri for faster processing (another 5 months)
and to NVC where i paid fees within a week of getting the notice and  all the documents within the month and it took over 8 months for NVC to process
so,  who do i blame?  this is life and sometimes things happen fast and sometimes slow/ its just life

I agree with you. I've also only been waiting four months and I fully expect to wait at least four more. I actually count my blessings that my petition at least isn't stuck in limbo

Can I share somethings with you that I learned long ago about this process?

        • "the man with the gold makes the rules"
        • it will take as long as it will take
        • no one with any certainty can tell you when some process will be completed
        • Your sense of urgency will never be equaled to what USCIS, NVC or your embassy demonstrates
        • Your journey is not going to mirror someone else's experience - yours and theirs are not the same
        • They only promised you a YES or NO answer. Never an exact time that their decision would be completed
        • Lowering your expectations will make you a much more relaxed individual

We have a constitution with a bill of rights. In that document everything President Trump is doing is law of the Constitution Country of ours. There have been other Presidents who have exercised their due diligence to help protect the American public and they too have abided by that same set of laws.

There is a discussion on historical wait times for the K-1 visa with current projections. You'll find that discussion here:
    https://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/740988-k1-visa-i-129f-processing-at-csc-now-at-150-days-total-k1-timeline-now-9-months/

Adding facts to the conversation, in the first 11 months of FY2019, USCIS adjudicated 7.5 million requests for immigration benefits, naturalized 833,000 new citizens, granted lawful permanent residence to 582,000 individuals, processed more than 2.1 million employment authorization applications, verified more than forty million new hires through E-Verify, the Asylum Division received more than 105,000 credible fear cases, and USCIS met the 30,000-refugee admissions ceiling for FY 2019. I don't see where they are the embassies are demonstrating a "disregard for your time" See the extended version here:

Cuccinelli Announces USCIS’ FY 2019 Accomplishments and Efforts to Implement President Trump’s Goals
USCIS, like other Federal Agencies, does a tremendous amount of work, is seldom appreciated, or praised, and the scale of work they do is several orders of magnitude larger than private companies but we as the world outside, and the consultants who often have worked on small to middling projects seem to be obsessed with private enterprise as a model to emulate!

LOL, I missed that.  OP, your petition isn't even close to being at the embassy, so I'm not sure why you're critiquing embassy workers.

Pre-COVID, our I-129F took six months to be approved.  Might as well get used to waiting.

I am in no way a Trump fan (or voter), but as much as he and others would like to think he has absolute power over everything at all times, he does not.  Including over immigration.

The executive orders/presidential proclamations he has put in place have clearly stalled the progress of some visa categories, but as far as workflow at individual embassies, that is controlled at the local level.

Pandemic conditions vary by country and region, and the workflow decisions made at local outposts reflect that.

It really isn't fair though to say that people working at embassies are 'literally doing nothing.'  That just isn't true.

It’s a myriad of problems, including staffing, covid, overall USCIS incompetence, etc. It’s easy to point at Trump based on his anti immigration stand and just solely blame him (and believe me I detest Trump), and the EOs have affected a lot of folks, but it’s a multi faceted issue.

Does anyone else get the feeling that Trump secretly stopped all immigration until the election was over? These processing times and quite frankly the embassies blatant disregard for people’s time just doesn’t add up to me. People are working at these embassies but are literally doing nothing. I don’t know...just seems like something he would do. Maybe I’m reaching, but we all know how he feels about immigration.
