Contact them again if you don't receive anything by the end of next week as the initial issuance deadline is 11/01/20. They can only issue SSN based on your current status in the first 76 days because they require that your I-94 has at least 14 days left.

Yes, that is current procedure. You call your local office because each office varies widely: https://secure.ssa.gov/ICON/main.jsp If they don't give you an appointment, your only options are to wait until EAD or GC or send-in your original current passport with SSN application by mail to your local office which is risky.

Yes! I was able to get a credit report and credit score. I sent by post a copy of my passport and copy of a prove of my address, a letter explaining my AOS situation and a payment fee. It took 2 weeks but I received it. If you call the credit agencies they will say it is impossible without SSN, but most of the employees are not prepared for AOS pending situation and I read in VISA Journey forum (don’t remember which one) that would work. I did twice already and my credit change (for a higher score!). I wouldn’t recommend you try the “free credit report” because that one I never got any response (sent several).

I just included this note on my cover page:

Please note: I have not included the Declaration of Self-Sufficiency (I-944) form as the Inadmissibility on Public Charge Grounds Final Rule has been paused as of July 29, 2020. As per USCIS update on the Injunction of the Inadmissibility on Public Charge Grounds Final Rule found on https://www.uscis.gov/green-card/green-card-processes-and-procedures/public-charge/injunction-of-the-inadmissibility-on-public-charge-grounds-final-rule “Applicants and petitioners whose applications or petitions are postmarked on or after July 29, 2020, should not include the Form I-944” (USCIS, 2020).

Just submit your DS-3025 with your AOS, you'll be good. No I-693 needed if you had ALL your required  shots and it was less than one year ago!

If your vaccination sheet is marked completed, you don't need to do anything else.

(Apologies for so many questions today...)
Can someone help me further understand how the Form I-693, Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Record works?
I had my K1 visa medical done in Mar 2020, so I do have the DS-3025 form.
My understanding is that I take the I-693 form to a doctors office (one that is on the USCIS list) to have them fill out the majority of it, and return to me in a sealed packet, which I send with all my other AOS documents. Is that correct? How much does that typically cost? Has anyone experienced delays in getting appointments for that, or are they pretty quick at getting you in?
    Thanks again

I did the same thing. This is what I wrote in my cover letter and I included a print out of the injunction as part of the i-485 packet at the end.

"Enclosed please find Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status and supplemental sheets, Form I-864 Affidavit of Support, Form I-765 Application for Employment Authorization, Form I-131 Application of Travel Document, along with supporting documentation. My eligibility is based on the admission as the fiancé of a U.S. Citizen and subsequent marriage to that citizen within 90 days of entry. I have also included the Injunction of the Inadmissibility on Public Charge Grounds Final Rule as it pertains to Form I-944 which is not included in the packet. Please find the following forms and supporting documents in this order:"

I posted regarding this a while back. I treated this question very technically and ticked off NO as the instructions of the I-485 clearly state that the immigrant category for K1 requires the submission of the I-944 (obviously the I-944 is not required to be submitted now due to the injunction).

Hey! Gonna send mine without the i-944 also but on the i-485 question about the public charge, did you check yes or no to being exempt?

Nikol993 reacted to nobu in Question on
    Hey y'all!

I'm in the process of applying for AOS from my K1. There has been a very recent change in the process in that the I-944 form is not longer required in filing.
At this moment the form is no longer required due to an Injunction of the Inadmissibility on Public Charge Grounds Final Rule.

You cannot find the I-944 form on the UCIS website, however, it does not seem that accompanying AOS forms have been updated accordingly.

Which brings me to my question...

I am filing out the I-485 and stumped on which box to tick for question 61 under:

    Declaration of Self-Sufficiency (Form I-944)
    61. Are you exempt from the public charge ground of inadmissibility?

Do I tick off YES as I-944 is not required?

My wife just got a second ss card in the mail with a different ssn. We got the first one at a ssa office shortly after getting married before filing for aos. The second one doesn't have her middle name, just her two first names and last name. This will be a  nightmare to get resolved i can tell.

Hi! Just to add to all comments regarding the life of a foreign without SSN. I also came to US in March, SSO closed since then. But I’m a very  persistent individual.
    Battle 1
I made to get letter of credit report without having SSN. I called then many times, talked to different people, insisted, payed fees, sent letters, copy of documents, and they finally sent me the credit report/ score. So they do that for people without SSN, but most of the employees that work for those agencies don’t know that.
    Battle 2
I got a bank account at Bank of America. The only bank that accept me without a SSN, and took me several hours, in person, to do that.
    Battle 3
Drive License. I made it too. In WA state you just have to inform you don’t have a SSN and why. When I get my SSN I have to inform DMV.
So life is difficult and a real pain without SSN, but possible. I still don’t have my Bio appointment, but I’m persistent! Already called USICS and being a pain for them too.

Nikol993 reacted to Ayrton in How to get a social security when AOS is processing?
No need to wait. I arrived on a Saturday and applied for SSN on Monday. I received my card after 3 weeks.

The marriage certificate is your name change document. If you will get married in a state that requires you to put your new last name on the marriage license, you shouldn't be using your maiden name after getting married.

So always apply for SSN first. I'm pretty sure the offices will be open by the time you get herez at least by appointment.

So, I watched some immigration lawyers videos during filling this form. I don’t receive any benefits, don’t have credit score, have health insurance. Benefits count only if you or your spouse receiving them after February 24. About debts and credit score that is only about applicant, so i did n/a. Better to not have any negative factors And pass this public charge test.

If you don't have credit report, you need to provide evidence. It totally makes sense if you just arrived USA and have nothing to provide. You can show a page that shows no credit scores available and also provide some bills you paid on time before as evidence of good credits. Just provide as much as you can I think. Yes, I-944 needs to be filed by the alien, you will be a part of her household though,
For Tax Returns : for her, not required to file and explain that in the "reason for not filling" part, if she filed in a foreign country, it needs to be included (in English of course)
For the Credit Score : it is her credit score, I also do not have one at time of filling I-944, if your wife is in the US right now, she has to send by mail a request for credit score evaluation to transunion here https://www.transunion.com/article/3-free-credit-reports. It is free and you get results from Equifax, Experian TransUnion (3 agencies recognized by USCIS). Do not do it online as they will tell you "unable to process your information" but if you send it by mail you will receive 3 letters, within 1-2 weeks stating "unable to find credit score" or "no credit score", this is what you want for you wife to include in her I-944.

    Hope this helps !

Hello! I have a very similar situation - the degree evaluation has been causing stress and confusion as we work through the AOS documents. My husband is from Ethiopia as well, and we have his documents but cannot figure out how to get the university to mail original official documents right now. I had just decided to ignore the suggestion to include the evaluation with I-944 yesterday, but now I am thinking about using International Education Evaluations LLC to scan the documents and get a "Provisional Evaluation" thanks to your comment. If you get any updates from them, please let me know!

Turns out, I didn't send in my 2018 W2s. They are sitting on my shelf. Can anyone help verify that complete Federal tax return for the current year means both the 2018 W2 and transcript since the 2019 taxes aren't due til July 15th 2020?

    Hello Mark,

My fiance made it here on May 9th. She said that they checked her temperature before she left Brazil. When she arrived in Houston, they didn't do any medical screen. Immigrations asked her a lot of questions about me and our relationship, then she entered in to the US.

Here are the questions that they asked her:

    1. How old is your fiance?
    2. Where did we meet?
    3. Where are you going ?
    4. What date would I get married?
    5. When was the first time your fiancé went to Brazil?
    6. When was the last one?
    7. When did he propose to me?
    8. How long have we been together?

Let me know if you have any questions!

    Thanks,

Nikol993 reacted to Bjh in I-944: How to prove wife NEVER had a United States credit score?
The first time I called was a week before last Wednesday, I was told (incorrectly) that we could receive both my wife's score AND report without a fee for the score (the report by itself is free). I was also told we would receive the papers in 5-7 business days... so I should've received it this past Friday and didn't. I did call again a week ago today to double check if anything had been sent or recorded (with wife on the phone with me), there was no record of anything being sent. So I again ordered my wife's credit report, score AND paid the fee for the score, and again was told that it would arrive via snail mail in 5-7 business days. So, at the earliest, it should arrive today, at the latest on Wednesday. If nothing arrives by then, my plan is for my wife to sign an affidavit that she has never had a US ssn and hence no credit report or score in the US. I also plan on sending screenshots of the error messages we receive when trying to get her credit report and score online. Her authorized stay ends on Thursday so we really don't have a choice if we cannot get proof of a credit report or score...
