Maybe if people stop calling them face diapers and rather say virus spreading blockers, then people would be more likely to wear them? Just a thought.  Ya know since the countries that had the least amount of whingeing by their citizens seem to be doing the best?

I am so glad you think those of us who wear masks look like clowns.  Is that why you will not wear them - vanity?  I know there are people that can't wear them.  I really can't but I do.  I have multiple lung conditions that make breathing difficult on good days.  When I put on a mask it makes it harder to breathe.  But I wear it anyway.  I am super cautious since I stand a good chance of having a really bad outcome if I get this virus.  I know life goes on and we must go out and live our lives. But it would be nice if everyone cooperated for the sake of everyone else.  Hopefully, next week our county will vote to make it mandatory.

I think it would be helpful if Ali were still alive to say whether he agrees with his son.  Especially considering the systemic racial injustice Ali himself faced.
 
People have images of their parents and what they stand for that don't always match up to reality. We project onto our parents images that we wish to see there, that validate our perception of them for good or bad. None of us can live inside the head of another. This makes for a great headline but it's just guessing at the end of the day.
 
I also thought that Muhammad Ali Jr. had been estranged from his dad for a long time when his father died.

I'm sure he's going to double down, 'cause that's what he does. Whether it works or not this time is probably the big question. Lot's of time left I guess.

These posts are missing an important detail: protesters for BLM/police demilitarization wear masks. Far right protests, MAGA rallies attendees are against masks, will at best get a pack of bleach, flashlight, and HQ. 

Situation sounds like it shouldn't have happened in the first place... and being 'keyed up' isn't an excuse for bad behavior.

It would likely be due to people mass gathering and not giving a flip about being responsible meanwhile the states reopening too fast. I am still concerned about what I'm seeing in this state, and if the pattern repeats itself as northern states reopen it's clear what the factor is.

Imagine what it will additionally cost those survivors that will now need months or years of rehab, lost limbs, dialysis, blind, transplant, and oxygen therapy.

He resisted arrest and took the officers weapon. That leads to bad things. This scenario is the polar opposite of what happened to George Floyd. Brooks didn't deserve to die, but his foolish actions are what lead to that happening.
 
   

A group of my wife's friends were big into the conspiracy theories and posting things like Covid-19 will go away after the election. Now they are all sick, and one in particularly is very ill. If they ask me for medical advice, my first question will be if they feel like they can hold out till November until the symptoms disappear.
 
  

As we have often seen, answers given when responding to anonymous polls don't always correlate well with reality. Not all drivers have the option to refuse (without consequence), but even among those who do, there will always be someone who wants to make money.  As long as somebody is paying enough for deliveries, somebody will be willing to deliver.

This is actually really good news! It shows that taking precautions works. All the customers and the stylists were wearing face coverings, and the salon staggered how many people could be seen at the same time and spaced out the chairs further.

The University's response is very mild. The lecturer only gets suspended for three weeks, after the summer semester starts, and he might not even teach summer classes. 
Given that over 50% of UCLA core funding comes from students tuition, the University had to respond in some way and they choose this very non damaging response.
 
The lecturer's email is crazy unprofessional and unethical. He could have gone to the school dean, there are policies in places (usually) for cases when students ask for special accomodations.

When it comes to these sorts of things I like to go closer to the source. The Daily Bruin is the UCLA student paper and it's consistently fair and non-sensationalistic in my opinion. The tone of that email is unacceptable and unprofessional. If he did not want to give an extension or provide special accommodations, he could have denied the request in a neutral way. There was no need for him to take a sarcastic tone; it added zero to the message he wanted to convey which was a simple "no." This is not to say that it is acceptable for him to be threatened in any way. Respect is a two way street; he is more than old enough to know better. The students need to learn this too -- suspension during an investigation is appropriate, but removal, in my opinion isn't.

If you think the protest is just about one person it's not.  It's just the catalyst that brought a very terrible issue to front and center stage, finally.  
 
A Denver Police officer was fired over an inappropriate instagram post. I've witnessed videos of white and black officers beating people up when they think they're not on camera.  Police brutality is a huge issue.  Black suffer from it much more than white though. 
If you're protesting that BLACK LIVES MATTER then you're protesting that David Dorn and David Underwood lives matter too.  
 
I condemn the attacks on both sides.  But one side has the authority and one does not. When you have authority you have a greater responsibility and more weight on your shoulders.  You actually need to conduct yourself in a manner that always takes the higher road. 
 
All of this makes me sad. Sad that we have this issue. Sad that people are hurt and killed by this issue.  Change needs to happen. 

there are peaceful protestors and there are those who are not peaceful, they do not take away the validity of those who are protesting
 
when those murderers are found i have no doubt they will be brought to swift justice (evidence of the system working) unlike many cops and rogue militia members/terrorists (evidence of the system not working because of the accused's privilege, prompting the protest in the first place).
