This is the second such post  I recall seeing here. I don’t understand why the airlines don’t tell the person at their initial boarding point that they will have a problem at their transfer point. I always used to have docs checked through to final destination for the US, and I had dozens of flights transiting on the way over the years.

I am in Mexico too and it is a really anxious time. The best thing to remember is America and Mexico share a special relationship- they both need each other for economic reasons. As long as Trump wants his ‘V’ shaped economic recovery, he will need Mexico.
Anything can happen but unlike the countries in the Schengen Zone, Mexico actually supports the American economy on a huge scale!
Plus the fact that Mexico’s coronavirus cases probably came from their workers in American work places!
Mexico’s cases are a drop in the water compared to America’s problems.
Fingers crossed it works out perfectly for us currently waiting it out in Mexico!

Ok, everyone, let's try to learn something from my experience.

Here's what I've deduced from what happened to me and what I advise everyone with plans on flying to Mexico does:

    1. Go to your countries largest, capital international airport
It's obvious that there's a communication breakdown between the airports, check in operators and airlines. Interestingly, I found out that KLM operate out of Manchester via Stobart Air. There's evidently some chain of command confusion going on here. I'm really not sure how other UK airports operate, but London might have actual KLM staff at the airport who are more knowledgeable. If you're not in the UK, see if you can find out which company represents KLM at your airport.

    2. Don't overwhelm the check-in staff with information as they might get confused
I'd advise trying to make things simple and not pull out endless documentation when you arrive. Certainly have it ready, but only use it if you need it. You don't want to cause concern to someone who doesn't know what they're talking about. Just hope that they don't question it.

    3. Do not mention"tourism" ever to anyone. Explain that you're meeting your fiancee in Mexico (even if they don't have a flight booked)
If you put an emphasis on this, and crucially use the word "family" (unfortunate grey area with being a fiancee), you might stand a better chance to not be lumped in as a "tourist".

    4. Try to bypass talking to check in staff if at all possible
If you can travel with only carry on (12kg with KLM, small bag) and don't check any baggage, print out your boarding card and print out and complete the health form, you'll can probably skip talking to check in staff and go through security. You're very likely to encounter questions at the gate (perhaps by the same staff at check in), but this at least brings you one step closer to boarding.
Note: This is speculation on my part. I spoke with somebody at the airport who told me I would be able to do this, but use your own discretion and do what you feel is best if you think you really need to talk with them at the check in desk.

    5. Get lucky and don't be unlucky
From what I've gathered from my experience and reading what happened with other users experiences on here, there's really zero guarantee anything is going to work. I know we're all sick of our lives being put in the hands of fate like this, but this is a roll of the dice depending on the people you speak to who are the only ones who can allow you to do this. The system is in shattered pieces and we sadly have to rely on luck.

I truly believe if you follow these steps, you stand the best chance of this working out for you.  All else I an offer is some good luck and my appreciation for the help.

Despite being part of the EU, Croatia IS NOT part of the Schengen Zone. ... In October 2019, the European Commission stated that Croatia is ready to join the Zone – so the country would only join the Schengen Zone in 2020, at the earliest.

is the flight ban for Schengen or EU or both??

Traveling to Mexico tomorrow morning! All checked in. Flight’s not been canceled fortunately. Hopefully they don’t cancel it last minute. Both nervous and excited. Praying that everything works out fine. Will keep you all posted - hopefully from Mexico next time ✌🏼

That’s my concern as well!! And I really don’t want to just sit around over here with no job, nothing to do because everything is closed due to covid.. and then wait around for an extension AND pay for another medical!! (The embassy told me a few weeks back that an extension is possible, but I would have to pay for it).

K-1s are by definition "relatives" (future but still) of USC. Seems consistent with allowance for USC spouses and children. I wonder if excluding parents is a inadvertent omission. Also allowing H-1Bs / L-1Bs to process (which is unlikely to happen anyway in today's situation) invalidates the claim that is labor market protection.

The most hurt category will be DV entrants that have not received their visas yet - they may not be able to make it before end of September, assuming this actually gets lifted after 60 days.

Yes I can post and let you know how her entry process went. She will be entering in Miami! Wow congrats! I hope she makes it here with no problems!

I will definitely do that Mark! We talked about this last night! I wish you and your fiance all the best!

opcav reacted to HRQX in Fiance has visa, can he come to the US?
No expiration; link to Proclamation 9993: https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/proclamation-suspension-entry-immigrants-nonimmigrants-certain-additional-persons-pose-risk-transmitting-2019-novel-coronavirus/ "This proclamation shall remain in effect until terminated by the President."
Technically, he can enter with the K-1 after spending 14 days in a country like South Korea, Belarus, etc. prior to attempting US entry. But in practice, those countries (and any transit countries) can have their own travel restrictions that make it too convoluted and thus not feasible to travel to the US.
https://www.dhs.gov/news/2020/03/17/fact-sheet-dhs-notice-arrival-restrictions-china-iran-and-certain-countries-europe "The President issued Proclamations 9984, 9992, and 9993, which suspends entry to nearly all foreign nationals who have been in China, Iran, and certain European countries at any point during the 14 days prior to their scheduled travel to the U.S."
https://lu.usembassy.gov/esta-cancellation-information-in-response-to-covid-19/ "If you have not been in the Schengen Area during the 14-day period preceding entry, and you are not departing from or transiting through the Schengen Area during your travel to the United States, then you are not subject to the Proclamation."
