Ugh i know I’ve tried a bunch of stuff  but gets old easily. Refreshing my case tracker app obsessively has become one of my hobbies too lol

LOL my husband says the same thing to me, he has really enjoyed having me be able to do all the extra stuff during the day so on days off or evenings we have quality time together. Luckily for him when I am able to work and get my business going down here I'll still have a flexible schedule!

This morning my status updated to 'ready for interview' and then a few hours later, 'interview scheduled'!! Watching mailbox like a hawk now for my notice so I'll know when my interview is!

As for hobbies, I took up penpalling again. It's cheap and offers some form of socialising. I decorate the envelopes with stickers like a little kid 😂 it works for me and has given me something to do. I also do a lot of cooking and trying new recipes, especially things from home that I used to buy ready-made. It's been fun trying to do things from scratch.

My husband would 100% agree with your statements.  He has always worked and provided for himself, and for a long time for me and our son.  Being down to one income... he's at his wits end and just wants to contribute to society!  He was taking our son for long walks but it is too hot in Texas right now to have the baby out.

I will say that our house is always clean and dinner is cooked when I get home from work - which I appreciate so much!  I may be sad when he is able to work 😂  Spoiled rotten!

    NYC Manhattan Filer here!

    Filed on June 29, 2019, NOA July 1, 2019.

Just received an update that my case is ready to be scheduled for an interview (Sept 6 2019). Now the super long wait begins because the processing time for NYC is the highest in the country!

My husband has been wonderful with the time he has to spend not working. He has fixed so many things in this over 100 year old house and the garden has never been more beautiful! Even though he can't work, yet, we both feel we are contributing to our life together.

Wife and I live in the SF bay area: our rent is $1700 for a very small place, and despite my wife getting promoted to manager at her store (and talks about becoming regional manager), her boss is so cheap and gives the tiniest raises.

Before we filed for AOS, we lived comfortably on my income as a programmer (over $100k), but I've had to leave that job since Nov 2018 and now we don't have the budget to do anything. Doesn't help that we thought I'd be back at work months ago so we've gone through our savings. Most of the time I leave the house it's to go to Trader Joe's, take my laptop to the library to have a change of scenery, or go sit at Coyote Point beach and watch the planes land at SFO (I'm a transport nerd). Also ironically, once I'm back at work our expenses could be lower as my job provides breakfast, lunch and a free train pass.

Our local humane society does accept volunteers, but only if you can guarantee you'll be free for a whole year, so at the time I didn't apply cause I was only supposed to be unemployed for a few months.

Got the "ready for interview" today.  So excited to enjoy the anxiety and anticipation that comes along with not knowing if my interview will be scheduled tomorrow, or 2 years from now

I know just how you feel. I was in a GIANT rut, feeling awful and lonely. Today is the first day for me that things have really begun to look up, because I finally found somewhere I belong. I hope that all of you find this soon too (and you will) but it takes so much time.

Status changed to "Interview Was Scheduled"!!

The weirdest thing though is that I never got the status "ready to schedule the interview." Makes me worried that it was some USCIS mistake and somebody changed the status on accident...

I will try to keep calm until I actually get interview notice (but it's dahm hard!!)

Best of luck to you all who are applying and interviewing for jobs!  My husband was going through the same thing and was so discouraged, but once the interview requests started coming it, they kept coming in!  Keep your heads up and press on, the perfect job is waiting for you and will turn up at just the right time!

Update 2 on our EAD expedite request - just went to our local congressman's office and sat with the constituent representative while she wrote and sent a letter on our behalf.  Also reached out to the Ombudsman and State Senator requesting letters on our behalf to expedite EAD.  We're going to keep working all angles d*mn it!

That's great! Hopefully it will work out. I think it's always worth calling in situations like this, where you weren't even given the opportunity to send in evidence.

We said severe financial hardship - and he does an offer letter on company letterhead with a required start date.

Update: My husband called and spoke to a Tier 2 Supervisor (after 30 minutes on hold and another hour wait for them to call back... but they did call and were very nice).  The supervisor indicated that there was little information on his request so they flat out denied it.  He explained our financial hardship to the supervisor and mentioned that he does have a job offer, offer letter and invoices/information on our financial situation (evidence!!).  So the Supervisor said he was going to put our request back in the funnel??  And we should hear back on or before September 10.

Praying for a good outcome, we really need my husband to start working!

    I will keep you posted.
