Finally, there is an update on my case today! Case status changed to New Card Is Being Produced. Took them exactly 12.5 months as per the current WAC case processing time posted on USCIS. I am excited and relieved! Glad I held off on filing the N-400, feeling that it would have delayed things a bit. Anyway, now I have to wait until I receive the card in my hand. I filed AR-11 for address change earlier this year. Let's see if USCIS sends the card to the right address. USPS messed up the mail delivery last time and returned the card to USCIS. Took me another 3 months to get  USCIS to resend it. I'll watch my mailbox like a hawk.

I wanted to address the negative attitudes we have seen on the rise recently in the upper/ immigration forums towards those who ask beginner/ simple questions, or have unusually fast or slow VisaJourneys.

First, there is a tone difference between the Progress forums- which are mostly for support and cheerleading, and the Info forums, which are mostly to have questions answered.   While all our forums are supposed to be welcoming to all and friendly, this is especially important in the Progress forums, which are not to discuss politics, or be negative towards  those fortunate to have their case dealt with quickly, or  critical of those who voice sadness about their own slow progress. These forums are there to uplift eachother!

Secondly- in the info forums, you may get bad news.  When a question is asked, our members are encouraged to answer truthfully, even if this may not be what the Op wants to hear, because it is important to be informed.  However, the emphasis is still on being welcoming and friendly.  If you need to give bad news, do so gently, and stick to facts; constructive criticism of the Op's plans ARE allowed, but the emphasis is on constructive.  No need to dwell on mistakes (or tell members they should be on 90 Day Fiance- that is a personal attack and automatic suspension), or  illegal actions in the past- instead, encourage and explain legal options for the future.  And ONLY legal options- as per our TOS, VJ does not support, condone or encourage illegal (immigration) actions, and such posts will be removed.

Ultimately, we are here to help all members, old and new, easy cases and complicated, those who write a fact filled bullet point post and those who are panicking and don't make much sense in their first post. Yes, sometimes questions can be easily googled, or answered via a search of our forums.  But if you feel that way, just scroll past- no need to criticise the OP for asking the question.

    Your parents** house.

You’re honestly delusional if you think SHE used YOU. Completely bonkers.

What exactly do you think you are offering that she couldn’t get somewhere else? I can’t imagine it would be too hard for her to find another unemployed man living off his parents in the US who would be willing to marry and sponsor her. But no, she stayed with YOU for YEARS despite your refusal to accept her own autonomy. It is sort of unbelievable, but to jump to the conclusion she was using you, nah man.

If someone tells you they dont want to have children... THEY DONT WANT TO HAVE CHILDREN. If my husband comes home tonight and says ' hey, lets have a baby' id tell him to shove it! He KNOWS i dont want to have kids (neither does he, so moot point lol)

You sound like a controlling, stone age, me man, you woman kind of guy. That doesnt fly well with strong independent women. On top of that, you dont have the means to support her OR a kid. Another reason for not wanting to have kids.

It is only both of your money if you both agree to it. If not- HERS IS HERS. AND YOURS IS YOURS. well, except you dont have any. If when I was working, I bought 10 Designer handbags and bought more - thats only between ME AND MY BANK. Unless you are supporting her - it is NONE of your business.

And yes, at 45 you SHOULD be helping your parents. My mother is moving in tomorrow. No im not happy about it. but it is what it is until we can get her set up somewhere else. She has NEVER given me money. GROW UP.

Me. and MILLIONS of others. Welcome to the millenium dude. we dont have to be barefoot and pregnant from societal norms anymore.

Dude, youve done got her a visa and a subsequent greencard. Youve made your bed and pretty much cant do jack squat about it.

see above. visa is in hand. Too late for you to realize she meant it when she said she didnt want kids, and that she wants a MAN and HUSBAND and not a man child for her to support.

    Kudos to her.

She sounds rad as hell, honestly. If she does end up coming stateside tell her to hit me up. I’m always saying I need to hang out with more models.

Indeed time will tell. Jerry Hall? Christie Brinkley? Both modeling into their 50s and beyond. Plus clothing companies that appear to the more mature market use more mature models. No woman in her 50s is going to buy clothes that are being modeled by a 19-year-old.  I’m almost 46 and shopped for some clothing online today and was delighted to see clothes being modeled by a middle-aged beautiful woman with grey hair. Really gave me the impression that the items would look good on me too.

It’s not your choice whether she stays here or not. You don’t own her.

It’s pretty cliche, but I think more people need to adhere to the idea of marrying someone for who they are, not who you want them to be or see them becoming.

If you think it’s wrong of her to expect you to work with it being hard on your body, your should probably do some looking into how hard pregnancy and childbirth can be on your body. That’s absolutely not something to force on someone who is unwilling. Not to even mention the responsibility of having a child.

I don’t really blame her for not wanting to bring a new person into the world with someone who is willing to just cancel a visa after 2 years of marriage.

I was on your side until I read this comment. You are quite right that there’s no need to get a 30-year mortgage at 45 if you live in a perfectly adequate place, etc.

You are not doing her a favor by bringing her here. I do hate that arrogant attitude from the USCs who seem to think that we foreign spouses should be eternally grateful and indebted to you because you “rescued” us from our home lands and “gifted” us a better life. Ridiculous. She sounds like she is very self-sufficient with her own career. She owes you nothing. If this is a genuine marriage then bringing her here is just as much for your benefit as it is hers.

Its almost as bad as the immigrants that say “I gave up everything to come here for him/her”. No, you did not. You made a life change that you BOTH wanted and so that you could BOTH live with the person you love. You do it for yourself as much as you do it for the other.

Shes probably better off without you if that’s your attitude.

Hey all, thought I'd update too. We had our interview on the 31st at Jacksonville. It didn't take too long. In the interview we were asked for ID, both birth certificates and marriage certificate, then asked for evidence of relationship (handed over dependent ID, photocopied proof of joint bank accounts, house deed, health insurance, credit card authorization,  plane ticket receipts), went through the I-485, and then we were asked a couple of questions as a couple - where did you meet, who proposed, what do you love about each other, plans for the future, plans to have children. We weren't approved on the spot so we were a little worried but by 5th Nov we had the NOA stating approved which was dated the 31st. Greencard came a couple of days later. Good luck!

The report of my death was an exaggeration.

First off yes I am back in the saddle. In March of this year I had some problems swallowing food and had to at times take a drink of fluids to help it along. I had an appointment at the VA and mentioned this to the my Doctor. She informed me that I needed to make an appointment right away to see the ENT Doctor. Made the appointment and during the exam he placed a camera tube down my nose to my throat to see what was causing the swallowing problem. Once down their he was able to see cancer at the back of the tongue. Next day I was in front of 9-12 Doctors and associates prepared to deliver what my treatment was, the prognosis of the treatment and what the road ahead looked like.

During that conversation the Dr.s indicated that I had a very good chance of beating this and that there wouldn't be any cancer in the rest of my body. I had 4 chemo treatments with no side affects and 37 radiation treatments which I wish on no one. The week after finishing the radiation I had many additional problems from the rad treatment and spent the next 3 weeks in the hospital. I am now on my 5th week home and my recovering is going very well. I had the tube examination not long ago and the Oncologist didn't see any cancer. Next month I go in and have a PET scan of my entire body to confirm that I am cancer free.

This is my 4th bout with cancer and each and every time the good Lord has seen me through this.

I thank everyone here on VJ with their well wishes and prayers and to Hank for keeping me as well as you in the "loop" on my progress and your well wishes. It is much appreciated.

Now get back to work. We GOT people to help!!

Hi guys. We just had our interview. It took like 30 minutes and a lot of questions was asked like how we first met, all from k1 visa until we married. The lady is nice and chatting with us. She interview us together. She didn't say we are approved but told us we will hear for them in 30 days.. but when i checked our status online now it's approved. Finally we can breathe until ROC. She gave us conditional 2 years since we just got married. She gave us the paper instruction for removal of condition. Goodluck to everyone! Will enjoy our time for now. ❤️
