I sent my package with a few days to spare and my package arrived late. USCIS were ok with that:

    * Sunday, January 9: Sent in i-751 using FedEx

    * Friday, Jan 14: Green Card expired

    * Friday, Jan 14: FedEx tracking says ~"Delayed, updated delivery Tuesday 18th"  (Monday being a holiday)

    * Friday, Jan 21: Delivered

    * Wednesday, Jan 26: Cheque cashed (appeared on bank statement)

    * Tuesday, February 1: Letter arrived in mail extending status for 24 months.

So grateful you shared this - UPS delivered our i-751 2 days after GC expired and we have been totally freaking out!

  2. Due to UPS losing our packet for several days (after we paid $88 for next morning delivery!!!), our i-751 is going to be delivered on Monday 3/27 when GC expires today Saturday 3/25. Is there any chance they'll accept it, or are we going to have to go through the whole show-good-cause-for-it-being-late process? We do have all the receipts showing when we shipped it and when it SHOULD have been delivered. I'm so angry rn, at UPS but also at ourselves for sending it out with only a week to spare (we were waiting for some documents we wanted to include to come in the mail, which they never did).

  3. An update that we FINALLY got our interview scheduled for later this month (NYC). Anyone else still waiting?

Of course now I'm having a meltdown trying to figure out if we can bring our baby with us. She's never been apart from me and never even met any other humans (not even our families) because of the pandemic, so I'm really hoping this isn't an issue. The notice does say not to bring children unless otherwise instructed, but she's a nursing infant and I can't leave her that long and really don't want to reschedule after waiting a year and a half for this interview, sigh.

Hello all. I have a question about the age gap when it comes to the female being older. There is a sixteen age gap for me. Do they look it is the same as the male being older and the women younger? Thanks !

We had no issue with this. I am 18 years older than my husband (from Turkey), and it never even came up at his K-1 interview. We've been married 1.5 years now and have our AOS interview next week - not anticipating that it will come up there either. Good luck!

  5. Hi all - crossposting from August 2018 Filers. Congrats to those who have finished this process, and best of luck to those still wading through it. We finally got our approval and my fiance flies to New York tomorrow. Here is our complete timeline, if it's helpful to any of you still waiting. Getting an appointment at the embassy took much longer than we expected, in particular. We checked hourly for several weeks before something opened up. I couldn't find a secret WhatsApp group for Turkey, alas. 😄 Also, we worried for a whole year about the fact that I (female petitioner) am 19 years older than my partner (male beneficiary). Everyone said it was a "red flag," and it never came up ONCE, not even in the interview. Go figure.

Even if you had an interview date like we did, it was canceled, in our case 11 days before her interview, due to "Staff shortages". Now we have been told to wait 4-5 WEEKS in order to find out when her interview will be. This has upset us a lot of course and I am currently in the process of getting help from my local Representative's office but I don't know if it will make a difference. They answered the phone and my email, which itself was pretty surprising. BTW all they will say on the phone in Ankara is that the visa department doesn't have a phone number and that you have to email them. Good luck to you two!

Oh no!! That's the third Ankara appointment I've heard of being canceled for this month. What a bummer. I really hope it gets sorted out soon. I was making (vague but hopeful) plans for summer, and now I'm back to fretting. It's much harder to be patient when you're this close to the finish line.

  8. Our latest update, in case it's helpful to anyone: NVC assigned our case # on 18 March, so I assumed we wouldn't go out in the 19 March shipment and would be going out 2 April. Then on 26 March we got an email from NVC saying that our petition was being sent to the embassy in Turkey (though CEAC status was still "at NVC"). On 28 March we got an email from the embassy saying they had received it and referring us to the generic K-1 website for instructions. So basically, no formal P3 letter (so odd!). Here is the specific wording from the email:

Please click on https://tr.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/fiancee-visa/ for "Instructions for K1 Visa applicants". A separate paper instruction packet will not be sent.

I've just been comparing full flights from Kyiv to Charlotte, Raleigh, or Dulles (all within driving distance and available as port of entry) I've been finding them around $750 for one way, give or take depending on when I check. I'm trying to keep transfers to just one, because she doesn't really speak English and gets overwhelmed easy. It's going to be her first time flying, so I'm worried about her somehow missing a transfer and getting stranded. If I could pay double that and get a direct flight I would, but they just simply aren't available from Kyiv.

I flew direct between NYC and Kiev on UIA and it was very affordable - could you possibly meet her in New York and then travel the rest of the way together?

    Hi everyone,

I need help because im getting really concerned about our application, last February 6, 2019 my fiance received our NOA2, its more than 30 days and still he didnt receive any letter for our case number or anything from NVC, we followed the letter and sent them an email accdg to their letter 5 days ago and we haven't receive any response. What is going on? how long do we need to wait for our NVC letter or to hear anything from them?

Same for us, NOA2 of Feb 7, no updates of any kind. I haven't called, though, since it seems a colossal waste of time. 🤣 I'm just going to wait for the letter and for my beneficiary to be notified by the embassy. He can't travel here until June anyway, due to other obligations, so we're being chill about it for now. Hang in there!

Just checked the new site and it looks like our RFE reply was received Feb 8, no email notification, old site has not yet updated. I haven't been checking the new site as frequently because I've been having issues logging in, and the previous updates had come through the old site first, but I guess I better start checking more frequently again. 😅

I just checked new site again and the last update is 9 August (case received). 😆 Old site is updated through 28 January (RFE response received). Bananas how inconsistent it is!

it seems like a lot of people get hit over these letters. I wish there was a section on VJ that I could post all my formats I used. I designed them from a "government employee" perspective and had no issues with any of them. I feel like having these available and easy to find would prevent many RFEs in the future..

Yup, the "govt employee" perspective would be useful!! We thought we were being efficient with a single letter of intent, but nope, RFE. Need a separate letter from beneficiary. Better safe than sorry - I'd gladly follow a guideline based on that.

So we called USCIS on February 4th spoke with an operator who had no information. Then magically an RFE was sent very next day lol issued Feb 5th received on the 8th. Add us to the request for more evidence of meeting club. Just baffles me that including a plane ticket and a notorized letter of intent to marry with a statement from both of us on ONE page does not provide their one meeting requirement. If we had to be both present to sign the letter in front of the notary yes we met. I am just thankful it only took us 3 days to receive it, now to wait for the RFE reply .........😬😐🤞

Ugh, that's so frustrating! Welcome to the post-RFE waiting club, and good luck. 🙂

I had the same RFE with the addition of my fiance (petitioner) needing to answer the questions about criminal record again so I hope ours follows shortly after 😅

Mine was for a separate letter of intent from beneficiary, which they received 1/28. The letter we sent was exactly one sentence long, so now I'm like...how long can it possibly take to read?!!!!! 🤣 Maybe my adjuticator is on holiday? Lol.
