My husband wants to get his U.S. Driver's License and we were told by someone helping us with our application that he has to get the green card or work permit before he can get the SSN but I am hearing from some other cases that you can apply while you wait and even receive a SSN before ever getting a green card. Has anyone tried to get the SSN without work permit or green card? Thanks in advance!

When filling out the form I-765 for EAD one of the questions asks you if you want them to issue a SSN. Do you remember answering that?

    We can finally start filing.

Does anyone know how to add a joint sponsor? He is also the person that we are going to live with first.

    let me know!

    Hi Rosie,

first you must file your own affidavit ( I-864) then it will give you the option to add the joint sponsor. Regardless if you are eligible to support the beneficiary or not, the petitioner needs to file his/her own I-864.
    Good luck.

The trump Administration is planning to pass an Executive Order in the next 24 hours to suspend immigration to America.  While it's unlikely the President will change their mind on the general policy, we believe they may consider a narrow exception for immediate family members of US Citizens, including fiancés.  We've started a petition a the White House which requires 10,000 signatures to get attention and 100,000 signatures to get a formal response.  Please join us by signing the petition at the following link.  We should have the membership to make a solid run at getting enough signatures!

(note the petition was changed to include fiance visa language... please verify you signed the updated petition if you signed earlier)

Pictures are not that important and can easily be faked.  A few taken in different places, wearing different clothes is all that is needed.  We did two pages with 9 pictures each with dates and captions.

Proof of time together and receipts, passport stamps, adding him as beneficiary on your life insurance, adding him to checking and credit card accounts or any other comingling of assets.

    Thank you for your suggestions.

I am 28, and I never thought of have a life insurance until now. Would it look bad if I get a life insurance now and add him as my beneficiary? He doesn’t live in the states so adding him in my bank account has been impossible. However, I do have a lot of pictures, conversations, trips, Airbnb confirmations.

  8. Hello guys,

I wanted to see what everyone though regarding this. I received and RFE for me I-130 petition. I'm a bit surprised because I thought I send a lot of pics, itineraries, passport stamps, booking confirmation, etc.

I'm going through a lot of pictures that we have within in 3.5 years spam. What kind of pictures would be "to much" or "not appropriate" in your opinion? Pictures of us cuddling in bed or kissing?

Please let me know what your thoughts are?

    Thank you in advance. :)

That’s fine. I’m sure there are plenty of people who apply for I130s who did not have a “traditional wedding”.

We had a simple civil ceremony as well and we just included a few pictures from that. In addition, we included photos of us throughout the years like when we went on vacations together, when we got engaged etc. Just supplement your file with lots of other photos that establishes a clear timeline/validity of your relationship.

We hired an immigration lawyer for this process so I’m certain that a lack of “traditional wedding” photos is not a reasonable ground for denying your petition.

Best of luck to you! I also have my fingers crossed for an NOA2 soon but we filed in September. Counting down the days...

    Thank you for the suggestion.

I never thought in a million years I was gonna get an RFE considering the package I sent in. I included; Photos when we were dating, photos when he proposed, vacations photos/bookings, photos with family members, flight tickets, call logs, messages, conversation not just ours but even family member with one another, affidavits, receipts.

I will have to look into hiring an attorney as well and have this done "professionally".

How did they notify you? Email, text, app or mail?

At least you know there is activity on your account and as long as you can provide the evidence required you can keep moving along...

    It’s actually bad.
I don't know what to do.
They didn’t not notify me, I have been checking my case nonstop and I noticed they went in there again today and I figured they were gonna make a decision. Later I noticed they uploaded the RFE that they will be mailing.

They are requesting wedding pictures, which I don’t have. Because we didn’t have a traditional wedding, we couldn’t afford it. We went to The court  house and got married.

Anybody knows how to approach this????
