EandS2019 got a reaction from Jem.G in Brisbane Medical Experience
Hi everyone, below is my Brisbane medical experience at the ANZAC Square Medical Centre, hopefully this will help someone in future:

I booked my medical once I had my case number, over the phone. I was required to make a $100 deposit upon booking, and paid another $505 on the day.

The medical centre is located near Central station and ANZAC Square (280 Ann St, Brisbane). On arrival I was to produce a urine sample and hand over my vaccination record, passport, and 6 Australian sized passport style photos. Once I gave all that to the receptionist I sat in the waiting room until the doctor was ready. I was called in and the doctor went through a list of health questions, so if you've had any health issues you will speak about it then. The doctor also asked about any hospitalisations, I brought a letter from my doctor outlining a hospitalisation and all was fine. The doctor checked general stuff like temperature, blood pressure, reflexes, heart rate, breathing, etc. You'll be required to get down to underwear.

Vaccinations I had proof of (which meant I was all up to date and didn't need to get any administered at the medical):
    - tdap
    - mmr
    - verbal confirmation that I've had the chickenpox

The doctor labelled the urine sample and sent me out with it and some x-ray and pathology referrals to the receptionist. Subsequently, the receptionist explained how to get to Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology at Manor Apartments on Queen st and CitiScan on Queen st. I went to the pathology first to hand in the urine sample and for a blood test, the pathology was easy to find. CitiScan is located on Queen Street Mall near Zara and Vapiano. You walk into the section which has Vapiano and go up the elevator to level 2.

Overall it took around 2 hours from start to finish, it would have been less but I was looking in the wrong place for CitiScan for 20 minutes. The doctor was friendly and it was overall not stressful (other than my inability to follow a map lol).

Addition: a week later I received a yellow envelope in the mail which included the DS-3025 (vaccination sheet signed by the panel physician) with a note stating to make copies of it, so I immediately scanned it. The envelope also included the x-ray disc.

Status updated to "Interview Was Scheduled" today! won't know the date until I get the snail mail. NYC local office seems to be super slow in general but I'm just glad they didnt forget about me. lol

Has anyone managed to get their medical exam expenses covered by the insurance btw? I had to do an exam ($300 in upper east side) and a chest xray ($75 in upper east side, my civil surgeon referred me to a radiologist nearby) but neither of them was sent to the insurance company, so I have to file the claim myself. I know everyone has different insurance plans but just want to know if these immigration procedures can count as "preventative". Also, how much do ppl pay for these exams in other parts of the US?

Just reporting back because my husband got a job today ❤️ He goes back tomorrow to get his schedule, so looks like he'll be starting this week.

He had been looking and applying diligently for the last month or so, and I think it was starting to really get to him that he hadn't gotten an interview or a serious response. Then, randomly we got a call on Sunday about a job, and today they officially hired him.

If she has had all the required vaccines, and her DS-3025 is marked "complete", she is good to go.

That's normal. The next update you get will say that the card has been mailed. I can't speak for Massachusetts, but my husband received his green card 4 business days after the interview.

I don’t think Shahnaz was expecting any order, etc. Just genuine curiosity  I think we’ve all been there. It’s very unlikely that your petition won’t have a NAO2 by 2020, however it’s good to know that it is possible due to security checks.

To answer your question, if you go to ‘immigration timelines’ and click on ‘similar timelines’ this will help you to see similar timelines to yours. Also check ‘processing times’ for a graph of approved petitions per month (make sure you look at the K1 one).

    Good luck!

This was really useful for me! I'm mailing mine soon and wasn't sure whether to leave blank or write N/A. Thanks!

For the petitioner, if your current physical address is the same as your mailing address you can leave 9.a-9.h blank (I put N/A in those fields). 10.a and 10.h still need to be filled in (10.a Date moved in - 10.b PRESENT).

For the beneficiary if the current physical address is the same as the mailing address, 12.a - 12.h are blank and you fill in 13.a and 13.b (13.a Date moved in - 13.b PRESENT)

    There's a good example here: https://www.visajourney.com/examples/Form-I-129F.pdf

Edit: I put N/A in every field that was not being used.

My status just changed an hour ago. I should get a mail with the scheduled date soon. I’d say this came sooner than I expected considering how slow Houston applications have been lately.
    Good luck everyone!

You're probably okay, but I can't say I'm completely sure. It is possible to get an RFE after the interview. May I ask: what vaccine did you not "elect" to get? My husband's had the same box checked and his wasn't marked "complete", either. It should have been, but the panel physician filled his out incorrectly. He didn't get the flu vaccine because it wasn't flu season so he didn't need it. The physician actually wrote a comment to the effect that it would be complete on receiving the flu vaccine. This was wrong, but we weren't sure the Interviewing Officer would realize this. My husband opted to get the flu shot (at our local CVS) and go to a civil surgeon to get the I-693. We were lucky enough to find one who was willing to do just the vaccine part and not require another complete medical. It cost us $100, and was worth the peace of mind. At the interview, we handed it to the IO and she added it to his folder. We'll never know if we would have gotten an RFE for it or not. We were approved on the spot. It was time and money well spent.

Neil's green card is here!!! It just arrived and we are beyond ourselves with excitement! This concludes this part of our journey, but I will stay active here to help others still on the journey in any way I can. I also want to thank everyone here who has helped us. Your advice has been enormously appreciated. I want to wish the greatest of luck and speed to the June filers who are still waiting. You could be just a moment away from that much awaited notification.
