NikkiFromCanada reacted to Naes in September 2018 AOS Filers
Well the problem stands with what they mean for "incomplete application" as it is too vague...I mean I saw cases last year that made my jaw drop and ask "what did you send????" RFE looking like a grocery list for a whole month. so to tell the truth if the case is that I could accept it. which would make people more cautious and not just send out an empty folder making others just wait in line for even longer than they suppose to. But as USCIS is known for sending out unnecessary RFE, and losing documents etc; I hope this only applies to real placeholders with missing half the things inside.. not for what they lose themselves while scanning.

@Naes Yaaaay! Good to see you again! My new husband and I filed our AOS package on Friday so still waiting for NOA1 over here! Don't really care about the timeline this time around, just enjoying wedded bliss and going through the process ❤️Good luck and congrats everyone!

NikkiFromCanada reacted to Suss&Camm in K1 getting SSN
1. No - you don't need a SSN for the marriage license, that is only for USC and LPR - you will need it but not your fiance.
2. You do not have to wait 10 days to be in the system, that use to be the case - the databases are updated over night so the next day should be fine - if you want to make sure wait one more day.
3. If they can't verify you after that it doesn't mean you are not in the system yet, but that there might be another issue, such as error or inconsistency with how the employee has entered your name compared to the i-94 record.
a) If the SSO employee has made a mistake, have them correct it and try again, ask to double check their entry - it must match exactly
b) If the problem is that the i-94 doesn't match your identification, withdraw your application and get in touch with deferred inspection site to correct your i-94 before applying again.
4. It is true that the normal waiting time is around 2 weeks sometimes shorter, BUT as mentioned it can take longer. For example as in my case, my name was too long to fit in the boxes in SAVE (verification database). Meaning there was no way out of the manual verification (paper verification through USCIS), which ended up taking around 10 weeks.

NikkiFromCanada reacted to Detron in K1 getting SSN
That's very true. You don't need to wait for a SSN to get married. I can't see on our wedding certificate anything about an SSN number stated anywhere. The county office just asks for IDs (passports, driver's license, etc).
SSN will help however, acquire a bank account, driver's license through DMV, etc. and he should work towards those things as soon as possible, after he retrieves his work authorization card. Below is a timeline that shows in which order things should go.

I love kind women!!
This is a group of women I met at the Consulate this morning. Some of them are on this forum as well. We chatted and waited outside together to be let in, we all went up together, and we were the first 6 to be called for our interviews, and we were all approved! We all waited for each other to be finished and we took this pic outside afterwards! We hugged, we cried and we shared a true moment of happiness!!! What a special picture!! ♥️

NikkiFromCanada reacted to Mariia in Driver's License K1 visa holder
Hi everyone! Ive recently entered the USA (state Maryland) with K1 visa, got married and changed my last name , as well as sent AOS and EAD package. Now Im thinking about getting learners permit and drivers license while waiting for EAD and Green Card. The point is: is it possible to do so if I have my passport and I-94 form with my maiden last name on them, Social Security card is already with a new last name, and we do have marriage certificate , proving last name changed?
P.S. Recently tried to get ID , MVA told us that it is impossible until all my documents match by the same last name, so I'll be able to do it only after getting my EAD with new last name on it. Is is the same process wit Drivers License ? Thank you

NikkiFromCanada reacted to G Walters in POE Toronto question
You more than likely won't need it for POE but I would keep it all till you finish your journey with citizen ship. You never know if you might need info from your past paperwork.

NikkiFromCanada reacted to sumbunny in Canadian Medical Exams
My fiance just had his medical with Dr. Mascarenhas and he said it was easy peasy. He was done with the entire appointment including labwork and chest xray by 2pm and he was scheduled for 1:15. Have all your paperwork ready (ie the form posted on his website filled out with your vaccinations by your regular doctor, your passport photos, payment, etc.) and you should be good to go! If you want more specifics, let me know!

NikkiFromCanada got a reaction from Bladeness in Montreal medical & Consulate interview Reviews
Since interview dates are usually more than a month out...there's always space for booking the medical. I had many dates to choose from and I called Medisys the same day I scheduled my interview. You will be fine

NikkiFromCanada got a reaction from Michelle M in August 2017 I-129F Filers, Part II
I had my interview this morning, and we were APPROVED!! What a feeling!! The interview part was the easiest part of the whole process! I will be moving to Washington D.C. on July 30!! Such an emotional day!! I am so grateful for this forum and all the help I've found here!! Thank you to everyone who has shown positive energy and to those who took the time to share information or experiences!! I am still crying with happiness!!! <3
P.S. There was a girl today who didn't have a W2 with her, and didn't have the correct police report, but she still got approved, pending the resubmission of a proper police report. It's not as scary as people on here make it seem. They aren't out to just stamp people denied. They worked with her and didn't just deny her because she made a mistake. It's actually a very kind, professional experience!!

NikkiFromCanada reacted to sumbunny in Help!
First off, CONGRATS! My understanding is that police certificates are required for any country the beneficiary has lived in for more than 6 months. Period.
That said, I would definitely check in in the China forum to see if they can get you more specific consulate information. Here's a link...

Good luck!

I don't think you need that and I would be very surprised if the consulate would do something like this but I may be wrong...

NikkiFromCanada reacted to ITMFA in K1 Proof of Meeting Requirement (Canada)
FYI a lot of visajourney regulars get tired of giving the same advice over and over, so you'll probably get more info through searching through old threads than you will by posting your own questions. That was my experience, but I'm also happy to help when I can!

Not married yet but starting my AOS paperwork. I came across this link and found it useful for those starting to put AOS paperwork together.

NikkiFromCanada reacted to Greenbaum in April 2018 NOA2 ----> NVC [Part II]
The document is still being used, but like you said it would have been used in conjunction with the I-129f. The DS-160 was designed to incorporate that document in the DS-160. It's baffling to me also.
