I received an email from NVC stating that my case is being sent to my embassy, but within the attachment provided in that email, I see that they totally BOTCHED my fiancé’s first name. They spelled it incorrectly. I called NVC and they said they can’t do anything about that since it’s in transit to our embassy already. My NOA 1 & 2 has my fiancé’s name spelled correctly all throughout USCIS. I’ve already contacted my embassy as well and sent them an email, just waiting to hear back.

My questions are: Have anyone ever went through this? Is the incorrect name only in that email or did NVC input all of my info into their system & send the packet to the embassy with this incorrect name all throughout? Don’t USCIS send them the packet electronically? Do you think this is a huge deal or something minor? This is the only time his name has been spelled incorrectly throughout this whole case process.

This is so frustrating, just when things are going smooth, then BAM! Something comes up. The Haitian embassy is already a hassle to get through as it is, Ugh!

Any comments, advice, and knowledge of this is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The same thing happened to me, and my names were inputted the wrong way around (My first name as my middle name, my middle name as my last name, and my last name as my first name).

USCIS told my fiancé the same thing. I had my interview last Thursday and they rectified the issue on the spot. As they asked for my birth certificate, passport, police certificate, etc.. which all had my correct name printed on them.

Dont worry, it’s really not a issue at all. They’ll fix it during your fiancé’s interview.

My interview was booked for 11am and I arrived at around 10:55am and was asked for my Passport and a print out of my interview confirmation by two security guards at the door to the security building, and swiftly handed both documents over and allowed in.

I was then asked to go through a standard airport style security search and my bag was put on a tray and through a scanner and I was instructed to walk went through a body scanner.

I was given the all clear and procceded out of the secuirty building and walk straight ahead to the main building.

As I entered the main building there was a lady at the reception desk who again asked to see the print out of my interview confirmation. She took the print out and stuck a sticker on the top of it and explained that the number on the sticker was my ticket number and instructed me to take the lift to the first floor, turn left and left again and wait in the waiting area for my number to be called.

As I took the lift to the first floor, I was immediately greated by two ladies at another reception desk. They checked my confirmation print out again, and instructed me to walk down and take the first left. As I walked down the corridoor to the waiting area, a officer at the interview window / desk asked for my ticket number. I showed it to her, and she said that she had been calling my number. I was surprised, as I was barely in the building for 5 minutes.

She asked for my Passport, Birth Certificate, Affidavit of Support, Police Certificate and my Fiance's W2. I handed this over to her and she began making conversation by asking me how my day was and if I was enjoying the weather. She was extreemly polite and tried to ease my nerves. She took my finger prints and asked if I had my medical exam the date of the examination. I said yes, and that my medical was on 24th July. She explained that she was going to check in the back to see if they had recived my results. After a few short minutes, she returned with a large brown envelope, and she proceeded to take our the documents that were inside the and placed them with the rest of the documents I had given to her.

She then gave me the envelope and noted that my chest x-ray was inside and to keep it when I get to the U.S, and then explained that I would have a interview with another officer shortly, and if my visa is approved, they would let me know on the spot. She asked me to take a seat and wait for my number to be called again.

After a 15 minute wait, I was called to another window by a officer to asked me to raise my right hand and take a oath, and asked me scanned my fingers on the reader again. She then proceeded to ask me the following questions :

Where did you and your fiance meet?

    Where does your fiance live?

When was the first time you met your fiance in person?

Does you fiance live in an apartment or a house?

With those 4 questions, the officer informed me that my visa was approved and that I would receive my passport back within the next 1-2 weeks. She handed back my Birth Cirtificate and the Afidavit of Support form. She was very nice and polite and congratulated me, and told me to enjoy the weather in Las Vegas (where my fiancé lives). I could'nt belive that it was all over and I was in and out in a total of 40 MINUTES!!!

I was working myself up prior to the interview, I was soooo nervous. But to be honest, there is nothing to be worried about. Everyone is very friendly and helpful.

  3. Hi guys,

I was hoping someone would be able to help.

My interview is scheduled for Thursday morning, and the embassy website says I am required to bring the following :

'You are required to obtain the original documents or certified copies, and one photocopy (with the exception of your passport and photographs) of the following documents for yourself and each family member applying for a visa '

Do I need to photocopy each document one by one to bring to the interview (ACRO, Affidavit of Support, NVC letter, DS-160)? As this seems like a lot to photocopy.

It is advised to do the medical before the interview, and at the moment Knightsbridge are taking over 7 working days to get the results of the medical to the Embassy. You can go for the interview after the medical no problem. However, your visa will be on hold until they receive the results and it could add almost a month of waiting time.

I just had my medical last week, had my original interview scheduled for today, but as lots of people had mentioned their results had not been received by the Embassy after 5 working days, I changed it to next week. I'm glad I did as I called Knightsbridge today and the medical is still there, waiting to be sent. So, had I had gone today and passed the interview I'd be pending on the fact they were waiting for medical results.

Sometimes better to wait a few days, rather than rushing in and getting yourself out of sync with the chain of events, so you can get your Visa in hand quicker ;)!

Just a quick question about the medical. I have my medical booked for 24th July and my interview is scheduled for 6th August. Do you think this is enough time for my results to be sent to the consulate? Or should I reschedule my interview?

I'm trying to rebook my medical for an earlier date but every time I call they're fully booked until the end of the month. :(

I think this will be okay :) and if the results aren't there, this will not affect your interview.

I think that is a better plan than five days.

For nine years, I've known medicals to be at the embassy in 3-4 days, ready to roll at interviews. Since mid January, not so. It seems like Knightsbridge isn't moving as quickly to process them and dispatch, and the embassy doesn't get them up to the Immigrant Visa Unit as quickly, once delivered. At first it seemed like the early days of the move to a new location had a few hitches to work out. The many, many medicals still unexpectedly "not available" has proven that more time needs to be allowed if you want the optimal process.  And with all these semi-complete interviews "pending medical", the overall productivity in general declines because of getting out of the desired work flow pattern. Everybody rushing to play the system and get ahead by only days is sometimes slowing things down as far as actually getting the visa in hand.

One thing for sure, you will all get there and worrying about every day and minute is really wasted energy and emotion. It would be almost impossible to screw up your interview no matter what order or when you do things.

Thank you for you help and reassurance. It really means alot

Not 100% sure on the UK consulate but I had a similar situation in New Zealand- I knew the medical results weren't going to make it in time but they told me to attend the interview anyway and they would complete the assessment of the visa once all results were in. So when I went to my interview the interviewer just stated all looked good pending medical results- they got those results about 2 days later and I had my visa in less than 2 weeks.

    Good luck :)

YES I think it will be a problem. When the embassy moved to the new location in January, there have been a huge number of medicals not received yet by interview. Not sure what the problem is because that never happened before the move. I can pretty much guarantee that your medical will not be ready to review at an interview on the fifth day based on so many threads on the subject over the last 5 months.

Anyway...nobody will turn you away. BUT you kinda fall out of the flow and somebody has to get back to your case. You may think that will happen the day your medical finally hits the mailroom. Not so. Your officer may just let those cases pile up for a week or two. You'll be crazy waiting but there is no standard answer when you get out of the queue so to speak.  For a seamless ending where you can almost count on having your visa back one week after interview, I would allow 2 weeks between medical and interview.

My fiancé (now husband) had his interview in February. We had exactly 7 days between his medical and interview and his medical did NOT arrive on time despite the doctor telling him it would. I would give it two weeks in between to avoid delay.

I don't believe they would turn you away. You would probably go into administrative processing until they received your medical results.

They will not turn you away. Sometimes there has been delays with the medical results getting there. It's completely fine. If your results are not there, you would just need to keep contacting them and keep on top of it.

They have apparently now changed the delivery method of the results. Will take about 5 days for blood tests etc. to come back to Knightsbridge, then allegedly they now have a same day courier system that takes the results directly to the embassy, once received.

    Everything will be okay.

Thanks guys for your help! I really do appreciate it.

I called the medicals to get their advice as well. The receptionist said that it takes a minimum of 7 days for the results to arrive at the embassy, and she also made a note of saying that this is stated on the consulate website. I told her that it wasn't and that the website stated 5 working days which is why I wanted to double check.

She said that, that was the wrong information and said that they would look into it as it should have been changed months ago, as the consulate can no longer guarantee that the results will arrive in 5 working days.

I've booked my interview for 6th August. This is 10 working days after my medical, I hope this will be enough time. What do you think?

  7. I was hoping to get some advice. My medical is booked for 24th July and I was hoping to have my interview soon after. It states online that it takes up to 5 days for the medical team to send your medical results to the consulate in London.

I was hoping to book my interview on 31st July. That will be the 5th day after my medical exam. Do you think this will be a problem? As I don't want to get to the interview and they turn me away because they haven't got my medical results.

    Please help.

  8. Congrats @Buhr @ThomasNC1988 @Oldrae !!! :jest::D Nice to see people starting to receive their visas so they can finally be with their better halves.

I'm literally counting down the weeks till I can hopefully say the same as you guys. My medical is booked for the 24th July, and I'm waiting to receive some paperwork from my finance so that I can book my interview. This process is stressful but I know it will be worth it.

You don’t have anything to worry about Girl! Cheer up! Like others said. The call center people doesn’t know more than what we now when we look at the website. They will update your name. And it will be no problem at all. You are Approved! USCIS don’t  send letters by mistake. But a mistake on the name is completely normal. If you look at the scans. Some of them said “Name was updated or date of birthday  was updated “ things like that. So don’t worry. You can call also and ask for a Tier2 if that will make you feel better. but Like I said. Don’t worry. Enjoy the rest of this journey that is close to the approval! Hugs and cheer up! ❤️💃

Btw: mine was never updated anywhere 🙄😂

    Thank you girl.

  10. So, just to update you guys. My fiance received our NOA2 notice in the mail on Monday and low and behold they mixed up my name on the notice. They put my last name as my middle name, my middle name as my first name and my middle name as my last name. I don't know how they did this, as we filled out the paperwork correctly, and our NOA1 notice has my name in the correct order.

My finance called USCIS yesterday to inform them of the error, and the lady was shocked to hear that we had received our NOA2, and said that her system was showing that out case was received on 31st October, and nothing more. It wasn't showing the notice of approval.

    Now I'm actually very worried.

I checked the new site and our case is showing as approved, but on the only website our case is showing as received.

The lady said got my fiance to verify our details and then she updated the name order and gave my finance a reference number and said we would receive a notice confirming the update.

Should I be worried if their system is showing as received and not as approved? Has anyone heard of this happening before?
