Alex876 got a reaction from AnJay in December 2018 AOS Filers [merged threads]
Had my AOS interview in Chicago this morning. It was completely painless and lasted around 10 minutes. The USCIS officer, a very pleasant woman, had my wife and I swear an oath after which she went through each question on the I-485, asked us to tell her how our relationship started, asked for evidence of co-habitation/marriage then told us everything looked good and she needed to review the case and run some security checks. She said she hoped to be able to approve the application by end of day and that I should receive my green card in the mail in 30 days. That was quite literally it. About 4 hours later the case tracker app notified me that my card is being produced. A few points to note:
I was not asked for an I-693. I was not even asked for a DS-3025. I adjusted from from a K1 visa and my medical is less than a year old. The I-485 interview notice you receive in the mail is critical. Keep it and  ensure you bring it to your interview. My EAD/AP combo card was not taken. I expected that it would be. To Chicago applicants specifically: Uber/Lyft or take the train if you can. Parking is a nightmare. There are a few parking garages around but they're expensive. While choosing your outfits, bear in mind that you will have to go through a TSA-like scanner (shoes, belts off, pockets emptied etc). You will be assigned a number when you check in. Numbers are NOT called in order so don't freak out if a higher number is called before yours is. Cell phones are allowed. Evidence documents I provided were: Joint lease Joint health insurance  Joint renters insurance (cheap to obtain and very useful generally) Joint gym membership Joint bank account statements Joint Amazon Prime (Amazon household) Credit card statements with authorized user transactions itemized (Amex does this) Joint tax return Federal tax return check Cell phone family plan Airline confirmations/itineraries Photos By the time I was nearing the end of the evidence pile she said she doesn't need anymore and I could keep whatever else I had. Although she didn't ask very many questions, I believe the key is to remain calm, be prepared and be conversational.

    Good luck everyone!

No, you do not need a 693.  They should have your medical on file.  We brought copies of the DS-3025 that were given to us after the K1 medical just to be safe, but he did not ask for them in the interview.

Yes. Terminated once you are officially approved for the GC.
I've seen cases where ppl have had their interview and have not been approved right away/for a long time. The Combo Card continued to process and some received while waiting for final approval for the GC after the interview.

AOS status changed to 'Interview Was Scheduled' yesterday (June 7). NOA date is Dec 12. Chicago field office. I've seen a few other Chicago December filers having their interview scheduled, just adding to the datapoints. Also curious if @Lebanese23 got their interview date as yet.

Sometimes it takes a while but usually within 14 days and that's about how long we suggest waiting before you try to do anything like get a SSN etc. So everyone has time to update their systems and have your info

My now-wife came on a K-1 last year and her I-94 was available within a couple days.
Sometimes it takes a bit longer to show up.

They'll send the petitioner an email once they send your case off to the beneficiary's embassy. The email will have your case number.

I'm an Australian and I'd say it was three months before I stopped saying - out loud to myself - stay to the right, stay to the right.  Even now, I tend to drive too close to the left side of the lane naturally.

Hey there fellow yardie! You can track your NVC status here: https://ceac.state.gov/ceacstattracker/status.aspx

You'll need to have your NVC assigned case number to use the tracking tool though. If you haven't already done so, call the NVC and ask for your case number. Since your NOA2 is a week after mine there's a good chance that the case has already gotten to the NVC and has been assigned a case number. To get your case number when you call you'll need to have on hand your WAC number as well as the names and birthdates of both petitioner and beneficiary.
