That is exactly right.  For your second question, you want to message @Captain Ewok.  He is the guru behind the curtain.

Posting it in the wrong forum just confuses people, because those adjusting under a K-1 are not permitted to work without an EAD.

EAD AP card is taking 7-8 months currently, so if you filed in late August, you should get it around late March, but more than likely around April. From people I know who have applied and what I have seen this month on here posted.

In your post it says you will become unemployed? So you are working now?

Select "Did Not Receive Notice by Mail" and you will get a service request number. I submitted one and was told this morning to wait till the 18th of November. If I don't hear anything, call again 😪

I'm kinda on the cusp of Aug/Sept filers. Sent mine in Aug 27 and it arrived Sept 1. Received receipts this week in the mail.

Hello,  I'll give it a try to see if they can us too. I saw a July applicant had a waiting period of 40+ days 😶 kinda long time. Thank you for sharing this information! 😊

Try the live chat during business hours. Go to the USCIS website and click on Emma and then keep asking Emma for a live agent. You should eventually be transferred to someone. (read that on this forum and it worked!). I have roughly the same timeline as you and I was able to get receipt numbers from them. I got the NOAs a few days later. They were postmarked on the day I talked to the chat agent. No idea if that was a coincidence or if they mailed them out because of my inquiry.

No. That's just a mix up of terms since priority dates are not relevant for AOS through marriage.
Edit: it could matter to determine when you get outside of normal processing times but we all hope that we don't cross that bridge

Usually the receipts numbers for the cases is one after another. Try changing last 1 digit of the case number you have, In my case 4 of the receipt numbers are like: 4,5,6,7 (last digit)

Thank you! No electronic texts unfortunately. We had a lawyer put the application together and so I followed their instructions. It's only in the last week or so that I went over all the forms I signed and realized they didn't include the e-notification form. I'm a little stressed because I'll be needing either AP sooner rather than later I'm pretty sure, so it would be nice to know if the application is actually in process. Even a credit card charge would have been a good sign! Ah well, no text notification/cashier checks will probably contribute only small delays in the grand scheme of things.

The times vary because biometric appointments are processed by local offices Some have yet to re-open at all,  most are still dealing with re-scheduling canceled appointments from the COVID shut down, and there are reports that many have had their operational capacity seriously reduced as well, so unless there is a drastic change, the wait is almost surely on the order of months, not weeks. You will be free to focus on supporting your spouse! I hope the procedure goes well.

If it helps, as far as timing goes, not having the notifications won't delay you at all. Assuming your app is received and in order the next action you'll need to take is getting your biometrics done, and that appointment is scheduled for you and a notice will come in the mail (are things being delivered to you, or to your attorney?), there isn't any online update for it.

And in the rare case that your app was rejected there's nothing you can really do other than wait for it to come back to you / your attorney to figure out what went wrong. Probably a low percent chance that happens with an attorney involved!

Fellow Canadian applicant @Tigerlily87 has a similar timeline, also paid with cashiers check (which can take a little longer to post), and hasn't heard anything else either, so don't be discouraged if USCIS has no information for you on the phone. Some apps just take a little extra time to process.

Filers before July 29 have already been getting RFE if they didn't include I-944:
So with today's update, more recent filers (07/29 to 10/12) would also get RFE.

Ours went out Aug 27 and delivered at Chicago lockbox on Sep 1. No word since then. We had certified checks so I guess there will be no way to tell if they have been cashed. Our lawyer requested that we prepare the I-944, but he did not submit it with the application he sent in.

Some people recently got lucky and were able to call the hotline and get their appointment notices send per email but that's nothing that usually works. For what did you applied? Please fill out your timeline that would help to answer your questions. If it's a K1/ CR1 your months away from getting an appointment notice and should stop worrying. Although you might could get a RFE and USCIS won't tell you the details about that on the phone.
