It's been a while since I posted as it's been a waiting game for us here with our field office being in Philadelphia. However, I just got this notification that popped up in my phone just now. Have to wait for the letter to come in the mail to find out the official date. Was actually not expecting this until after July but hoping it's next month. I'm due to have our child July 27th and would hate to have to reschedule the date.

267 days since we filed and interview scheduled for my husband's GC:

I would not use VJ estimated approval dates. My NOA1 is Dec 7 and did biometrics in Jan. My case status has never updated. According to VJ, I'm way past due. A lot of the people you see here with approvals in Jan, Feb, etc have had their EAD/AP expedited or are in areas where their Field Offices are very fast. You can use USCIS processing times as a guide. https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/
Average processing times for EAD/AP are 5-7 months. A lot of people are here waiting with you, so don't feel like you're being left behind. Hope we all hear something soon!

Why don't you consider moving to Hong Kong? I went through your posts, which are all about the same thing, your fiance delaying moving to the US. It seems that she has a lucrative career. I mean she's able to afford an apartment in one of the most unaffordable cities in the world, in regards to housing. (BTW almost all leases that I know of in Hong Kong can be broken, you just need to pay a 2 month rent penalty). She has family she needs to care for and it seems she's not in the position to move here in the near future. If you want this woman to sacrifice her job, family, and life to move here to be with you, shouldn't you be willing to do the same for her? And it's not difficult for you to move there. As long as you two get married while you're in Hong Kong, you will qualify for a dependent visa. This will allow you to work in Hong Kong and there's very little waiting time.

Are... you seriously wanting your wife to be on the US illegally? To never work? Never have driving license? Never go to school? Are you honestly serious? Because yeah she will probably bound to sit at home all the time so she doesnt get deported. She CANNOT work if you don't send out AOS.

Even if you marry but dont do AOS she will still be there illegally and deportable at any moment.  Just marriage doesnt mean ####### in regards to immigrations.

...I hope she sees this and run. If she can't be here legally then what's the point? You dont even seem to care if she's with you or not. Let that woman go.

Honestly. Some people should be banned from bringing in foreign spouses.

We have traveled our Visajourney to the end, success !

We followed the steps provided here on the Visajourney website, mixed with prayers, and support from our friends, my wife became a US Citizen on 8/12/2018!!!
It takes a lot of patience, but if you do your homework, file the correct documents, and supply the required information, you will win.

My wife took her Citizen exam on the Sept 12, 2018, she told the examiner she was able to answer all 100 questions, she killed it. My wife said she was a little disappointed because she was so ready they only asked her the simple questions. After her test, they invited her to take the oath, about 2 hours later on the same day. We had and huge hurricane coming in, and since we were already there in the office she agreed to take the oath. We were expecting to get a oath ceremony in about 2 weeks, we wanted to invite some of our friends to attend, but due to impending weather she went ahead and took the oath. We have a new American!!

My wife is from Romania, she told me, when she was a child and saw airliner fly over her house in Romania she would wonder if it was going to America, Our started our journey  2013,
and now she is here! Our next step is for her to pass her nursing license.

Many of you know about this, but what a feeling it is to be able to be part of someone's life long dream, and watch them become an American...the right way, and forever

    Thank you Visajourney!!
I have recommended at least 3 other people to join and win!

Best wishes to you all, God bless!

We got approved this morning! Once his doctors appointment is done on Monday and the results sent off, Knightsbridge can send it to the embassy. They told him at the end of the interview he'll have the visa in hand 2-3 days after the medical arrives! I'm so happy! Especially since this is keeping us on track for what we predicted!

Thank you.   We were approved.   🎉

I want to thank all of my fellow Thai K1 applicants (past and present) and everyone else who has contributed to Visa Journey.   Everything progressed with our I-129F Petition and K1 Visa application as well as I could hope (other than being a long slow process).   I am not sure if I could make that claim if VJ was not holding our hand along the way.

Honorable mentions go to @Loren Y for letting me follow in his footsteps, @Naes for being a VJ friend and someone to talk to, @Greenbaum for his support, and @TBoneTX for setting me straight when I was off target and teaching me to be a good VJ contributor. (I am sure he has no idea what I am talking about.  😀).

Now I need to figure out which of the many VJ forums I need to start paying attention to...

isla543 reacted to mcdull in I wore jeans to my oath ceremony.
"Honey, you sure you don't want to change?" My husband yelled as he was jumping out of the shower.  "You look gorgeous in that cheongsam!"

    "I am 100% sure!"

My husband was baffled. Why would I wear jeans at a such solemn event? on this very day I became an American?

little did he know,  I wore it to honour my aunt, who was killed by the Chinese communists over a pair of blue jeans.

My dad escaped the Chinese civil war and arrived in Hong Kong, left behind two other  siblings who remained in communist controlled China. Dad worked few odd jobs so that every time we visited our relatives, we would be able to bring necessities, be flour, rice, clothes, radio or even salt and sugar.

I still remember my dad's loud cry when upon returning to China, he learned my aunt had committed suicide, over the very pair of jeans he brought her from Hong Kong.

Only when I grew up, I heard the story from my cousin that auntie Mui lost her life to the heydays of cultural revolution, when every single wrong doing could land you in jail and every little mistake earned you a good beating.  Jeans in all the madness became a gesture of contradicting  supreme leader Mao and a symbol of supporting American Imperialism.

So her very friend and comrade stripped her and did the unthinkable and unspeakable in public.  My aunt couldn't take the humiliation and took her own life the same afternoon.

As years go by, all my families escaped communist China and landed in Hong Kong, Aunt Mui was gone, but she was never forgotten.

And that is why I wore jeans, a indisputable symbol of Americanism at my oath ceremony, and if aunt Mui is above there somewhere watching over me, she knew I did it for her honour.

Not positive, but pretty sure it is the embassy that determines if it is sent electronically or snail mail so it might just be your embassy. You will probably see an update tonight.
