My fiancé called USCIS a few times today as he wanted to speak with a Supervisor but each time he was told due to the high volume of calls Tier 2 was not taking any calls and to call back later. Just a few minutes ago he tried again, with the same response, BUT Tier 1 advised we were APPROVED just this afternoon!!!!! I actually had him call back again and ask another Tier 1 if we were approved because I needed confirmation after so long of a wait. There was a light at the end of the tunnel after all.....just didn't know how long that tunnel was going to be and for me that was the hardest part of this part of the journey.

Congratulations! What relief and excitement you must be feeling after such a long wait. I hope the next steps for you go quickly and you play some catch up with the long wait you've had for the NOA2.

I'm divorced and still waiting. It's so hard to try and make sense of all of this. This process is already so difficult when you start out and realize you may have to wait for 5 to 7 months, but we hang on, counting the days, trying to live our lives as best as possible but always watching the clock, waiting for the day when we can finally really start our lives with the person we love. But the 7 month window passes by and there is so much disappointment. All the hope that you will have an NOA2 in your hand by 7 months Is gone. Now there is no time frame - no website that tells us your application will be process in....NOTHING. Some of us call USCIS and speak to various people and seem to get different responses every time which only adds to our turmoil. My fiancé called yesterday and put in an "outside of normal processing" inquiry.....supposed to get a response to the inquiry in 9 to 20 days. Doesn't mean an approval, just means someone will most likely tell us "your application is still under review" within 9 to 20 days. This may not seem like an encouraging post, but sometimes just letting other people know you understand exactly how they're feeling makes us all realize we are not alone. I hope and pray that many of us who feel like the "forgotten" will start to see approvals, and that the K1 process timeline starts to decrease for all filers as people really shouldn't have to be exposed to this kind of angst in their life just to be with a loved one.

So very very true. You very eloquently explained exactly how I felt this morning. I'll just pick myself back up off the ground but can't say there aren't any bruises. You are probably very wise not to call until outside processing times. Now that I know we were given inaccurate information I wish my fiancé wouldn't have called. I would have rather heard "your application has been sitting on someone's desk since July 18th, gathering dust, and we have no idea when you will hear from us" than giving us so much hope and now we are just as much in the dark as before we called.

My fiancé woke up to a text this morning....first text EVER. Even though he had signed up for all the inactivity updates etc. we never received any texts or emails whatsoever. Since we are on Day 206 so much excitement until he read them. The "we are still reviewing your case....we last took action July 18" Can't say I didn't shed a few tears of disappointment.

My fiancé spoke with USCIS, what we thought was Tier 2, last week. She seemed very helpful and actually gave him the three dates on which the petition was reviewed and said no rfe's, everything looks good, background checks are fine, and it's on an adjudicator's desk for approval and you should get your approval by the 20th. Had I not have heard the conversation myself, I would not have believed the detail this officer was giving on the review dates etc. So both my fiancé and I felt ok, the approval is on its way.

Fast forward to this morning and my fiancé calls USCIS after receiving the "we're still reviewing" and after waiting only 60 minutes for a Tier 2 call back we were informed there is no way of knowing when it will be approved and wait until September 1. Not sure why the officer my fiancé spoke with last week told us approval by the 20th......was she using the 7 month deadline and assumed we would have it by then? Very disappointing for sure...

So we continue to wait.....Day 206 if we're counting from received date.....

Just wanted to share that I'm still one of those waiting as well.....wish I could say I'm just one of those that neglected to update their timeline with the NOA2 date, but no such luck.

Hoping all of us that feel like we are being left behind are pleasantly surprised by approvals this week!

This is why I haven't nor will bother calling till I'm outside normal processing time. Getting differ stories every time u call. It's been a on going issue with uscis. They pick u up and slam u back to ground.
Its sad to see them play with our emotions. They actually have our life's in there hands.

No doubt. My daughter went into the passport office to get her very first "adult" passport on May 4 and on May 11 she received via courier. I was amazed!

Thanks for info on the marriage certificates. I think I will order mine just to be safe. (it is so odd ordering a marriage certificate for a marriage when I'm already divorced but like you said rather safe than sorry.) We wait so long in this process I don't want any of the wait to be caused by my neglect to get some paperwork.

Well, we do have some facts. Based on the data on the USCIS website, the California Center is where all K1 visas go and are processed. Our experts on Visa journye are able to deduct a very good estimate on how many K1 visas applications there are in a month.

Very insightful. We are making conclusions without considering all the variables. The total number of visa petitions processed in a month would then give us a better idea. I would imagine they have monthly target numbers. Are those targets based on dates reached, petitions processed, etc. Hmmmm.....my brain starts to spin.

I believe you are correct @SMK 89 with regards to giving up Canadian residency. Here's an excerpt from the Gov of Canada website:

"When do you become a non-resident?
When you leave Canada to settle in another country, you usually become a non-resident for income tax purposes on the latest of:
the date you leave Canada; the date your spouse or common-law partner and/or dependants leave Canada; or the date you become a resident of the country you settle in." The latest date here being the date we become residents of the country we settle in....which I guess is not until we receive AOS. Do you interpret similarly?

It does make complete sense since as you stated if we don't marry (as IF that will happen) we are not entitled to become residents.

@Deehotstepper I too thought you had filed much earlier. I actually thought you were in the same month as @Naes Great to know someone that's been gleaning information from previous months is going to go through this process with us. We'll be leaning on you for all that updated information!

@LuFlolady and @lilit829 I think we all secretly hope and pray we will see some action in June. There are days I say to myself "we could be getting our NOA2 in a couple of months and then there are days I tell myself "don't get yourself too excited about progress in June as the disappointment is heartbreaking." It's like we all got on a roller coaster ride together and there will be days when we''ll be screaming with excitement and I'm sure days when we'll be saying "just get me off this ride". But at the end of it all whether we enjoy roller coaster rides or not we will all get off the ride and our loved ones will be waiting for us....that in itself makes this the most exciting ride of our lifetime!

It's such a long wait for the NOA2 and to hear the wait continues at a snail's pace is somewhat discouraging. I really hope you hear soon.

Did you request expedited processing or is "approved your request for expedited processing..." the generic response?

I took a look at recent interview dates and it looks like they are adding additional days of the week for interviews. I think they used to only interview on Wednesdays, but the last few entries show interview dates of May 16, 18 and 22. Perhaps trying to catch up?

My first post - I'm the beneficiary living in Canada. Thought I'd chime in here as I've had a little experience with longer and frequent visits to the US to see my fiancé. I am currently in the US on a B2 visa visiting my fiancé. My B2 visa expires in May and this is the first time I will be visiting as long as I can. You want to be really careful using the word "reside" when on a B2 Visa. I'm sure you meant "visit" but unfortunately "reside" will raise eyebrows at the border.

Yes, Canadians can visit for a period of up to six months and I'm so very fortunate I've been able to spend so much time with my fiancé, but I am very clear when I cross the border that I am visiting only. I have never had any problems with  my extended visits to the US but I am always prepared with my proof of ties to Canada and always spend more than 30 days in Canada after my visit. I am chatty and completely honest with the CBP officers (agents??? what do we call them???) and I have never had any issues nor been asked to provide proof of my ties to Canada. When I entered the US in November I was asked if there was a marriage proposal in the works and I simply responded with most definitely, and proceeded to let him know I was aware of the K1 process etc.

So to answer your question, no, it's not ok for your fiancé to "reside" in the US ever on a B2 visa, but most definitely she can visit. I would just be prepared with much documentation to prove she's still residing in Canada and intends to return.

I intend on visiting my fiancé frequently until we receive the NOA2 and if it happens to arrive when I am in the US the celebration will be so much sweeter.

From what I have read, after the interview the passport is kept in Montreal and couriered to your fiancé's Canadian address at which time her next entry to the US will be on the K1 visa.

Here's hoping the next few months fly by and the entire process speeds up a little!
