anyone recently interview at tunis, been waiting since DQ june 8

When my husband and I did it pre covid we waited over 90 days for an interview.  I would expect at least that. However it may be longer seeing the embassy hasn't been working at full capacity due to the virus. I would expect 3-6 months. Sorry for the icky news.

  2. July 24, 2019 was my husbands interview, they gave him his passport and the white paper asking for joint sponsor. even my income is near 10k over. We submitted documents and further proof via the email the way the CO asked us too on Aug 19, 2019. Sept 24 they open the case and say "OH our apologies can you upload the documents to CEAC? "So we did on the same day, and until now they have done nothing. We are nearly 4 months after the interview. feeling in despair. Our PD was june 1 2018... we've been waiting for 16 months now. IR1 tunisia

    can we pin this??

    THIS DOES NOT APPLY NOW!!!!

THIS IS ONLY FOR INFORMATION on changes COMMING to the USEmbassy / nvc process
    when? early next year.

60-Day Notice of Proposed Information Collection: Public Charge Questionnaire
Through the DS-5540, the Department will collect information regarding applicants' ability to financially support themselves following entry into the United States, without depending on government assistance. Fields primarily pertain to the applicant's health, family status, assets, resources, financial status, education, skills, health insurance coverage, and tax history. Most applicants for immigrant visas, including diversity visas, will be required to complete the DS-5540. Additionally, a consular officer has discretion to require a nonimmigrant visa applicant to complete the DS-5540 if, for example, the officer is not satisfied that the applicant would be self-sufficient during his or her period of stay.

The DS-5540 will be available online in fillable PDF format. Immigrant visa applicants will download the completed form and then upload and submit the completed DS-5540 and other supporting documentation as a part of their immigrant visa application through the Consular Electronic Application Center (CEAC). Nonimmigrant visa applicants who are required to submit this form will be able to do so via email or in hard copy.

Applicants for immigrant visas, including diversity visas, will be required to complete the DS-5540, except for categories of applicants that are exempt from the public charge ground of inadmissibility. The exempted categories are listed in 8 CFR 212.23(a). Exempted categories include applicants seeking immigrant visas based on qualified service to the U.S. government as an interpreter in Afghanistan or Iraq, visas based on a self-petition under the Violence Against Women Act, and visas for special immigrant juveniles. Additionally, a consular officer has discretion to require a nonimmigrant visa applicant to complete the DS-5540, when the officer determines the information is needed, for example, if the officer is not satisfied, based on other available information, that the applicant would be self-sufficient during his or her period of stay. A consular officer may also request any immigrant visa applicant not subject to public charge, but subject to The Presidential Proclamation on the Suspension of Entry of Immigrants Who Will Financially Burden the United States Healthcare System (Oct. 4, 2019), to complete questions 4 and 4A from Form DS-5540 to establish that the applicant will be covered by an approved health insurance plan within 30 days of entry into the United States, or that the applicant possesses sufficient financial resources to cover reasonably foreseeable medical costs.

    How are you doing?

    hello everyone,

out experience wasn't so awesome. Just letting you know whoever was concerned or wondering.

he was asked like 25 questions, and in the the end she issued him a 221g saying that my income isnt enough  when my income is $8000.00 over the guidelines. so just fyi for anyone who is going thru USE in tunis. Now i have to try to figure a way to show them I DON'T NEED A JOINT SPONSOR. and furthermore I am not going to put anyone else on the hook for financial responsibility of my husband when I am more than qualified to do it on my own.......

im hurt and upset and mad and feeling really hopeless because i know that this person that does the interviews in the USE in tunis has many complaints and very rarely approves anyone.

sorry for being late. just trying to process.

i dont understand. my income is so far above

  5. I believe that if it is just conversations than translation isn’t required. However I think that maybe the consulate may want to see that you can make your way in USA because most people here are not bilingual in Arabic. So I think that it’s up to you.

The things that are important, civil docs etc.

We we have our interview now. July 24.

Let me know how yours goes!

  6. I just got of the phone with them a bit ago. I spoke to eve who was very nice. I asked her if the interviews for July were closed for my embassy? She said that for the most part the scheduling of interviews is complete for July. When I told her how long we had been waiting she stated we could file to expedite... 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’m wondering if mental distress, anger issues and anxiety over this process would be a good reason.🙄

Exactly like me. I'm planning nothing until I get interview date. Really frustrating. Since April

Yes it’s hard waiting. Sometimes the joy of seeing people getting IL is clouded over by wondering things like “ why did they get theirs in 3 weeks and still for us it’s been almost 90 days or more” the emotional roller coaster that this process makes us ride is making me physically sick. So some of us... people in Cairo, people in Mumbai or Mexico or many African nations.....we are suffering, and for what? We have paid for our family members LEGAL immigration to the USA and this is what we get! Our lives stuck on hold with NVC instead of enjoying our time with the family members we are trying to be with.

    Sorry for the rant!

    I’m just frustrated....and I feel just sick!😢😢

my PD April 2018    CR1 visa

i thought it will be much faster and easier with the embassy

when my husband call NVC they say it's to the embassy to decide the available date .but it s too long ( almost 2 months and half of waiting )

what about you i really need to know if there is anyone here same situation or can advice

    thank you

Our PD is 6/1 we are over 2 months waiting now:( I guess we are in the same boat.

NVC states the same to me. The embassy is who decides! I’ve emailed the embassy and no response. It’s very frustrating.

♥️ I love your directness. We should all write down the name of the person we talk to at the NVC. And if you have someone rudely and unprofessionally hanging up on you or some other disrespectful behavior you write to the Department of State and Congress and Senate with dates, names, and summary of the issues.

When government isnt held accountable it goes unchecked and becomes a danger to everyone in some way or the other

i agree 100 100 with this statement. but we would need a way to collectively share this information as a large group because i feel that no one listens to individuals.

You do realize that interviews are assigned by NVC only after the consulates have informed them of available dates/times....therefore the interviews are basically driven by what the consulates tell NVC.

yup i do, however. i believe that there is a serious disconnect. like i get how they do it but they should also be able to give us information regarding the place in line. ok so you have 20 people in front of you or something to help us ease the tension and frustration of the process. and unfortunately its the NVC who has the line for customer service, so the question goes to them.
