it’s because we called the NVC first and theyre the ones who told us to call the USCIS. We were suppose to just ask and get some updates then they told us to call the USCIS coz they said that they dont see our case on the system and so we did. I may sound impatient but it was only because they told us that the minimum time to get NVC number is 90 days, and so I asked other filer’s NOA2 date to confirm whether it’s really 90 days.

I was also about to say the NVC shouldn't have told you to call the USCIS. They're supposed to as you the date of your NOA2 and tell you it's not there. That's it.

Just to add some information, I spoke with someone at the NVC last night, and they said that electronic cases get created and scanned and all information entered at the NVC.  They do their checks and audits to make sure everything is correctly entered, and scanned etc.  Then the embassy is notified and they have access to the case immediately.  This adds some time for the case at the NVC.  If you call and it is in "Admin Processing" this is what they are doing.

We got a case number 6 days ago, and it's still being prepared to send.  You can ask the NVC representative if there has been any activity on your case also.  They can see daily activity, but it hasn't been sent yet.

I figured they'd want to do some amount of auditing. Well, at least this clarifies the reasoning for the wait time of some persons.

Can I ask when you received your NOA2? coz we just called USCIS now and they kind of snapped and told us that the minimum time we should expect it is 90 days. we then called NVC and they said 90 days

Since you have your NOA2, you don't need to contact the USCIS anymore. The NVC is where you're case needs to be handled next to stick to contacting them. There is an April 2018 NOA2-NVC thread for those who have received their NOA2. You should come and join us there. There are quite a few persons still awaiting their cases to be received or to receive their case number. You're still within normal wait times so no worries.

    This was quick. Congrats!

Thank you! To be honest, I could have done it sooner but I tried to wait a few days to see if the embassy would send the packet 3 email but the person from the embassy told me that it can take up to 60 days for me to receive it. SIXTY DAYS :rofl:

So yeaaa after that I just gave up and decided to do it the old fashion way and get the packet 3 requirements otherwise. It hasn't changed for my embassy for the past 3 years so I'm not even worried about it.

That’s the mystery of the century! I think (but this is just my assumption) t takes time to get the case ready with turning everything to digital scans etc.and they just don’t generate (or want to generate) the number. Cause I did hear them saying, it will be at NVC anyway, what will you do with the number..

I’ll ask tonight when I call (if I don’t get a coucou on the phone)

I hope you don't lol I have so many questions about their processes and procedures because I'm almost certain there's A LOT of things that need fine tuning over there. The fact that it's electronic, it SHOULD have an electronically generated case number but who knows. Maybe they want to always include human intervention? They don't trust technology and to be fair I kinda understand that point of view.

Electronic cases are only sent through electronically: so it gets readied at the NVC and transit to embassy games less time (because it is only digital)

but apparently the system is really new so it is taking longer for the case to get ready. And they don’t give it a number till it is ready.

Lol I'm so confused by the fact that it takes longer but to each his own.

It depends on the embassy, they tell you if t is an electronic case. Simply put 7 is old system and 5 is new. So for I sample when you call 7 and they say they couldn’t find it in their system and they try the other system, that’s when they are hacking electronic system.

Thanks. I'll keep that in mind. Do you know why the electronic system takes that long just to have the case number assigned?

Omg!!!! We just got approved.  I prayed, I asked my mom to pray with me earlier today and I was just laying down closing my eyes telling myself that we will get approved tomorrow, I imagined opening the app and visualized that the app says our case was approved. Just 5 mins ago my fiance texted me to call him and told me that our case just got approved!!! OMG OMG!!! I opened the app and we really got approved!!! Thank you God!!! I owe everything to you!!!

    NOA 1:  October 27, 2017

    NOA 2:  April 25, 2018

I pray to those over 190 days and still waiting for yours to come next.  Pray and visualize :)  and keep a positive attitude :)

Congratulations! It's great to see some kind of movement. Any movement means everyone who's waiting is just one step closer.

Makes sense. I posted in the Montreal group and alot of ppl have been waiting for their NVC#, packet 3, etc. The NVC is so close to Montreal... I could probably drive there. Do people do this? Lol. I say this in jest. I won't drive over ... 🤣

I still haven't even received packet 3 email yet . It's a slow email that I don't think is really needed because the information is available from other sources including persons who have already done the process.

Thanks! I just found  a few other ppl on this thread that have the same received date as me (4/18) but no NVC# yet. I'll call tonight 😊 I'm not worried too much though... My fiance is coming to visit me in a few weeks anyways 😍

I think there is some kind of a backlog at NVC so tho because we have the same NOA2 date and the NVC received my case on the 16th as well as gave me the case # on the 17th.

Not yet... I'm still at work. I wouldn't want my colleagues hearing my conversation 😆

Oh my bad, slow moment  I just remembered that you said it earlier. I would say call again tonight around 7pm CT to get an update. I usually recommend that time because most cases seem to be processed by that time for the day.  It does seem really odd though to me.

Is there anyone else has received confirmation that their case is at the NVC but have not received a case number? What was the NVC received date?

Hi! I received my NOA 2 on April 2nd online (paper copy was dated March 30th). I let some time pass and I called NVC on April 19th. The lady I spoke to told me they received it April 18th and it was electronic

Sorry... I forgot to select quote post. My answer is up top

Hmmm that's odd. I hope you don't mind me asking but what country are you from?

In the past few weeks they were receiving cases within 3 weeks and assigning case numbers after 1-4 days (4 days being the latest I've seen).
