So Colombia Embassy wont extend my petition a month more because theres currently openings for interviews before my petitions expires. Has anyone had this problem before? I was trying save money by traveling in Jan instead of Dec. Our petition was approved Aug 14...which means it will expired Dec 14? Can I schedule the interview like 7 days after or will that be a problem? The Embassy was rude  about this.

When your visa is approved you will have 6 months to enter.

Getting a visa is not favors and i don't want to do it now because of XYZ.

Do your interview or let the petition expire and start over (new 129F) when it is convenient for you.

    We applied on Sep 18th

Went weeks without hearing anything, called SAVE to check in, and visited social security office twice and was just told to wait.

Yesterday we got a letter saying "we cant complete your application because immigration failed to approve your application. Please contact us when you can give us the documents we need"

(side note that one of the case udpates in SAVE was yesterday which is the same day we got the letter so is there a chance they are still working on it?)

I will be calling USCIS later today but I am kinda at a loss, the i94 expires next week and he needs to SSN to get a drivers licence. What do I do? Going to the Social security office has been useless.

I think the I-94 need to be valid at least 2 weeks or more when applying. I think you need to wait until he gets his EAD or green card.

As consolidation depending on your state a SSN won:t guarantee a drivers license. Most of the states want to see an EAD or green card to issue a DL.

We will wait for now than.
So hurry up and wait game.

The agent acted as if it would be issued by that Friday. 😂😂😂

I was thinking “wishful thinking” and “yeah right” based on what I’ve read here.

much appreciated. 😊 and hope all is well with you @Sarge2155. You’ve always been very helpful from petition and even now.
You give others a reason to smile on this journey and I thank you 🙏

They would have known right there if they need to send it for manual verification.

So probably you are in the manual verification process but the SS person didn't tell you that.

They don't issue the numbers at the office anymore so he/she couldn't tell you that you can get it by Friday. My experiences were you will get the card in the mail approx 10 days.

From the OP's description, it sounds like his girlfriend was a child when entering on a fake passport. So I wonder if this would be taken into consideration: the fact that it was likely her parents who altered/faked the passport, not the child.

There was a netflix show about undocumented immigrants. One of them entered the USA as a child with a fake US birth certificate and he is barred for life and moved to Canada since he has no way of becoming an LPR.

I think it is good that your fiancee never claimed to be a US Citizen even as a kid.

Its a $400 gamble... I will just redo the I-693  easier to earn that $400 than go thru Months of priceless agony.

That depends on location! I asked around last year and a full medical out of pocket was around $550-$700 here in St. Louis.

I would advise figuring it out if you need a new one or not...

could be completely wrong, we feel ours was lost. All my vaccinations are up too date, everything was fine at my medical in March. We will never now the reason, that’s purely are thoughts on it.

Being fine at the medical in March doesnt mean that you have all the shots needed for becoming a LPR. Also at the consulate I don't even remember that the CO spent more than 15 second on it after she opened it in front of me.

I had my medical back home, K visa approved but when filing AOS I needed to do a vaccination and complete some part of the I-693. Is your DS-3025 was marked complete down at the checkbox section?

I got approved for EAD and AP and have been working with my current employer for several months. I am now looking to change jobs but want to make sure it is possible to do so with a pending I-485 based on marriage to US Citizen?

Yes!. Your EAD has no restrictions on it.

Well we got email saying we are ready for interview for the i485 our field office is atlanta georgia can anyone say how long it takes to get the interview please ??

You need to have interview scheduled notification. The one you mentioned in the title means that the National Benefits Center finished with your application, but it doesn't mean that you have an interview scheduled.

    Hi y’all,

I have a biometrics appointment in CA tomorrow - is there anything I should take or be aware of? What does the biometrics worksheet entail?

Thanks for any and all advice.

You have to take the letter with you. They will stamp on it, but otherwise nobody will ask for it.

The sheet will ask for your name, birth date, height, weight, hair and eye color and such.  The form I completed had both metric and imperial system on it, so if you don't know your weight and height in inches and pounds you are still fine.

    Hello guys,

I sent the RFE reply 2 days back. Now we are waiting on USCIS. Do any one know how long USCIS take to confirm that they receive our mail (RFE packet response)...

The mail is at least 2 days plus they need to collect it, open it and such. I would give them a few days. If you sent it with a tracking number at least you will know when they are collected it.

  11. https://aspe.hhs.gov/2019-poverty-guidelines

It depends on your household size. You can look it up on the link above.

The public charge rule is now more enforced, so continuous employment for the sponsor is advised. Also look it up for 125% too to be sure you meet the requirements for the AOS. Some consulates might look at the 125% of the poverty guidelines since you need to AOS after arriving to the USA.

My fiance will be arriving to the US in November and i'm trying to prepare myself for all the various things that i will need to take care of in terms of documentation, procedures, etc. Obviously the big one is the adjustment of status, getting married, and miscellaneous things like adding her to my insurances, what other big things will i need to do along these lines for her once she enters the country?

First.go.to ss office with a completed form for requesting a ssn. Do not sign the ssn form at home!!!! You also need the I-94.

After that get married. You dont need to wait for the card to arrive.

After that you can follow this guide. https://www.visajourney.com/content/k1k3aos/

Edit: here is the guide of how to get a SSN https://www.visajourney.com/content/ssn/

    THANKs

its been like couple or 3 weeks since my case has reached my local office at Denver  Colorado

Ready to schedule an interview doesn't mean that your case reached the local office. When it reaches the local office you will get the Interview was scheduled. Until then your case is at the National Benefits Center in Lee's Summit Missouri.

Hi Everyone, I am a newbie and please pardon me if I post this to the wrong forum.

So my question is: do I have to tell my fiancee living oversea about my previous marriage? ( it was divorced legally a year ago ) . I plan to petition her to United States to live with me next year 2020 , I was worry if the interview officer will talk about my previous marriage and then my fiancee will be surprise but the fact is I really want to hide my previous marriage. Does anybody know if I can hide my previous marriage to my new wife ?

    Thanks for any advice

    Jamie,

You will need to provide a full and final divorce decree at the interview stage. So she will find it out sooner or later....

The fee calculator calculated the wrong fee for me, so I would not rely on it.  It still added fees for the I-765 and I-131 to the total, even though it would be exempt filing with the I-485 and showed an X on the fee.  The biometrics was also wrong; it probably added the biometrics from the other forms too.  So I went with the $1225 under the I-485+biometrics since the I-765 and I-131 says it is waived if when filed with the I-485.

    fee.jpg

Yep. Tired it. U really need to know what to select otherwise it will add fees for the ead or travel permit.

  16. US Virgin Islands are US territory. So the flight is considered domestic. You should be fine with drivers license too. BUT I would take my passport and GC just in case the plane needs to land somewhere which is not USA territory.

Edit: By the law we are required to carry the GC with us every day. So take it for sure when you are travelling.

    Hi everyone,

We had our green card interview yesterday, which was very exciting! Our officer was calm and kind, but told us from the start he wouldn't be able to approve us on the spot because there was a document missing. The document isn't anything from us, but something internal he was waiting on. He mentioned he had a few other cases before ours that had the same document missing and that he "requested" ours. He said it could be 2 weeks to 120 days (!!!!!!!!!) for the document to come to him and there is nothing we can do/no way to check it except to keep checking our case status and see if it changes from pending.

Apart from that, he told us we were "unofficially approved" because everything we had/said was great - just missing that internal doc. We left with such mixed feelings because YAY we're approved! But also I have zero confidence that whatever document that is is going to turn up! I have a bad feeling it's a long road ahead. We all know how slow all the internal stuff can be.

Has anyone else experienced something similar? Is this normal/common? He never said the name of the document, but mentioned something about I-129F and the medical.

    Hi

    I had a similar experience.

They were missing half of my K1 folder and my medical. So the IO needed to request that. It took 3 weeks after the interview to being approved. The 120 days is their legal limit and hopefully u don't need to wait that long. Just as example the IO told us that it would take a week to get the missing papers....

Also unfortunately verbal/unofficial approval means nothing. In my case if they would not be able to find my medical they would have issued a RFE for a new medical which could have delayed my case longer.... Your GC will have a later approval date, not the date you had your interview on.

    Thanks for your response.

I am kind of still confused and apologies for the same.

Why some websites mention that I have to use I 130 also......Like below link

    https://citizenpath.com/green-card-adjustment-of-status/

My fiance entered US with her child on August 14, 2019. We got married in August 28, 2019.

I do not want her to work here.

So, please let me know if I am doing this right or wrong.

I have filled below forms and hoping nothing else is required.

I 864 (one form for both mother & child)

    I 485 (separate for mother & child)

G 1450 (separate for mother & child to make payment by credit card)

I 131 (for mother only, child is not required to travel outside until Green Card comes)

    G 1145 (separate for mother & child)

Please let me know if I am missing anything.

Also consider EAD(I-765) if your wife wants to drive before getting the green card. Not sure about AOS time in your region but it might be more than a year. While she doesn't want to work she will be able to obtain a drivers license or a state ID while waiting for the interview. Also it is free with the AOS

Btw I think you will need a SSN for both of them when filing taxes next year. So maybe u need to file EAD unless you got the SSN before getting married. Not sure about the kid tho, i guess I read somewhere that somebody filed EAD for the kid to be able to get SSN.
