I booked my interview without it, but then filled it in anyway a few days later just to be safe!

The guide in UK forum is way, way outdated. The links have changed, the embassy moved, you book your own interview now.  I too have noticed there is no reference to readiness form on the current embassy instructions Step 1 - Step 4 here https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/fiancee-2/applying-for-the-visa/
 
There is still an old page left on their website about it,  but they tend to do that when they update....leave old pieces in there. That readiness was something left over from when everything was on paper and you mailed back a paper "checklist" where you actually ticked off each interview document you had and signed it, along with mailing four paper application forms. I think they created their online version used more recently because they couldn't let go of the old way. 
 
 I would say book your interview without it and see how it goes.

I dont think the website lets you book the interview unless a notification of readiness has been sent

thats also the reason why there's no need to give a binding affidavit of support unlike AOS or cr1.

The Department of State (DOS) defines the K1 as a Nonimmigrant Visa. If the question said “Nonimmigrant visa with immigrant intent” the answer would be yes. The question instead asks for “immigrant visa.”  Since the DOS defines this as Nonimmigrant the correct answer is no.
 
Based on what I have read it seems different consulates and embassies believe that different answers are correct. You can ask your embassy what they believe is correct. For me it’s appropriate  to just answer each question literally, instead of thinking “I know what the question says but that’s not what they meant.” 
 
What type of visa does the question ask about?
Immigrant visa
What type of visa is K1?
Nonimmigrant 
What is the answer to the question “ has someone filled immigrant visa on my behalf”?
NO
 
If my Embassy cannot read the question I will gladly walk them through it.

Literally from the mouth of an embassy staff member - I called to clarify...

"It is confusing and different places refer to it differently, but in most embassies its an immigrant visa and you should answer yes"  HOWEVER he also said it wont make a big difference if you answer no since they can see its a K1 and they know it is an issue which confuses people - USCIS (not a part of the Dept of State) refer to it as non-immigrant, whereas DOS refer to it as immigrant, which is where the disconnect usually happens.

So there you have it, from an embassy staff member themselves :-)

Agree there's unlikely to be penalization - I personally answered "no" based off the prior threads i read that have addressed the issue.

thank you all for your input... all of what you guys say makes sense... i am just wondering why they make it even more confusing than what it already is. I saved my DS-160 application for now and will continue tomorrow

I've been a long time lurker on this thread and I can honestly say it's really helped us cope. We received our NOA2 approval in the mail today saying we were approved on 4th Jan :D.

No update online. I even called them on Jan 10th and they said applications were being processed as of June 1...
 
Gave the gal my case number and she couldn’t give an update even though it had been approved nearly a week prior. 

I've been a long time lurker on this thread and I can honestly say it's really helped us cope. We received our NOA2 approval in the mail today saying we were approved on 4th Jan :D.
