New process? Where did you see that? Majority if not all i-485 applications are processed at local offices which operates quite different from each other and workloads are also very different.

Combo cards are now taking any much longer than it used to be, just looking at VJ Processing times, you can filter by dates and have an idea for how long it is taking people to receive theirs.....

Oh my bad. I took my information from previous aos threads of this year and it seems like most people (January/February filers) have already had or getting their greencard interviews.

You're right though, it may vary with each office.

  2. Still coming to this thread almost everyday to see how people are going with the visas.

@Trinab80 and @TeeSam, hope your fiances get their visas sorted by the embassy. I've been so frustrated along with you guys just reading about what's happening. Sending positive vibes.~

Congrats to those who got their NOA2s, and interviews! Hope there's no more May filers left after a month or two.

Did anyone include photographs of your wedding in the AOS package? I have the bare bones but seems lack compared to the K1 package :jest:

Not sure if anyone answered you (couldn't find it in the thread), but no you don't need photos of wedding in the AOS package. The marriage certificate should be proof enough. You can however bring it to the interview for the GC.

    Oh okay awesome!

Have you applied to work? Im struggling filling out the form I-765. can anyone help me?

For all your questions, there is a guide here for how to do the Adjustment of Status and other forms on here - http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1k3aos

There is also a section where they have examples on how to fill them out - http://www.visajourney.com/content/examples/

There is also a post at the start of the thread where there is an example cover letter of what you should submit with what forms. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/670373-may-2018-aos-filers/?do=findComment&comment=9176145

We have a letter on USPS Informed Delivery from the Department of Homeland Security National Benefits Center. Is that our biometrics letter?

If so... one problem. We are moving from Maine to Washington state this Saturday. If I change our address now, will that totally screw us?

It might be the NOA1 if you still haven't received it yet.

If it is your biometrics letter, then it may screw with you, as they will let you know your appointment date with the closest office to you in Maine.

However, there is a "Request for Rescheduling" on the biometrics letter where you can get it rescheduled to an office in Washington. Best call USCIS to confirm how you should do things though.

My husband and I sent his AOS package today.  It's going to arrive at the Chicago Lock Box tomorrow morning.  We didn't apply for his EAD/AP at the same time as the the AOS because we got confused about the instructions.  Hopefully we can use the NOA1 to apply for EAD without paying another $410 :(.  Anyways, I hope we are still able to be considered May filers but I might have to move over to June if it takes a while to get the NOA1?

They may reject it depending if you paid the $1225 fee, as that fee is for AOS and Biometrics as well as AP and ED.

Hello guys, I am also a May filer.  Last week received a text/message regarding my NOA1 (Priority date: May 17).

A question! Please advise if you know if there is a way to expedite EAD. In case I have a job offer from the employer, can it serve as a solid ground for expedite? I have read the criteria (financial loss, emergency, etc.) I assume getting a job offer doesn't qualify under any category. Anyway, do you have any thoughts with this regard?

    Thanks

    Sona

From previous threads that I read (if you google "EAD expedite K-1"), it seems you can't expedite it unless there is financial loss/emergency. And job offer would not fall under that category.

And one more thing, has anyone applied for SSN separately (I mean in the Social security Administration). I applied for it on 26 of April, was told that it would take 2-4 weeks to get SSN. Today marks the 4th week, and still no news. Has anyone applied for SSN and got it?

For myself it took a week to receive my initial card, and my updated card with my married name on it. Has your I-94 expired? That would be the only reason why I can see why it's taking so long.

    Hi there guys,

Anyone here already applied for their SSN's?  I have a few questions regarding that. Or maybe a forum suggestion...

I applied a few weeks ago and now received a letter saying they cannot verify my alien status.  But when I went for the interview for SSN, the interview went really well and the lady said everything was looking good.

Sorry if this in inappropriate for this forum.

    Thanks

    Wouter

Has your i-94 expired? If it has expired or soon to expire they cannot issue a SSN.

Try calling them and see what they request from you.

USCIS Online account number. I  have searched everywhere. We have our username and password from doing all the fees, etc for the first part of this process.

But where do you find your account number??

You can leave it blank. Most people do not have an online account number. It only exists if you have previously used the online submitting system (ELIS).

Hey all, I'm new to the group (previously over in the June i129 filers group :) ). I arrived in the US last week and we're marrying next Friday, so I will be a May AOS filer very shortly. I had a quick question about how you guys opened a bank account. They said they only need my ID and a proof of residence (US drivers license/utility bill etc), but I have no idea how to get one. What did you guys do for the proof of residence? Cheers for all your help, it feels amazing to actually finally be here!!

It depends what bank for and state you're applying in. Each bank will vary what kind of proof of residency is needed.

Since you're in California, you can apply for a state ID through DMV. - https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/dmv/detail/idinfo/idcard

However you need show proof of residency somehow when you're applying for it. If you're renting an apartment, get your name on the lease and use the "lease agreement/update to lease agreement". The DMV accepted that as my proof of residency.  I suggest finding your local DMV, booking an appointment to get it, otherwise it will be a long wait if you just walk in (did a walk-in and sat there for 8 hours until my number was called).

There is also a non-official site which is like a guide to getting your drivers/state ID etc with DMV - https://www.dmv.org/ca-california/

Wow that’s expensive! What’s the earliest time you can get this medical done? Some say you need an NVC numbers, others say they didn’t have to in their case. How did you do yours?

TVMC will not book a medical unless you have your interview date from the Sydney Consulate. They will ask you over the phone when you book it when the interview is. You have to show them the email with the appointment date when you go for your medical.

Hi all - I originally thought I'd send mine off sooner and be an April filer, but we've been so busy that I haven't finished the packet for DH yet. We're hoping to send it on Monday.
